  • www.truthforlife.org || by: Alistair Begg - (Ephesians 6:21-22) Although Paul’s background and accomplishments were impressive, none of that mattered to him by the time he wrote to the Ephesians. In his letter’s closing, we glimpse a humble, tenderhearted servant who turned the spotlight on Tychicus, an unsung hero who delivered Paul’s letters and encouraged the church. United by the Gospel, these men direct our gaze to Jesus, teaches Alistair Begg. Their example reminds us that it is faithfulness, not our list of successes, that matters in God’s kingdom.

this man's teaching is wonderful.. he not only shares the word (through the Spirit) But shares the lives of those that serve GOD as he did here.. I have never heard preaching like this before and find that it touches me deeply, to understand those servants and how it should be in my life too... Is such a good thing to know. For I choose to serve the LORD and my desire is on him and those of his children that have need.. May God grant me the grace to humble myself in the face of an arrogant world.. Pray for me (as I do for you all) that my pride and rebellious attitude will fall under the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.. amen

Allistair Begg is a blessing to many of us in his teaching. For many years his messages have also blessed me but challenged me to listen, take notes and research the Scriptures further.

Alistair Begg really communicates the gospel truthfully through Paul's letter to the Ephesian's and
how Paul came to them in a Christlike way encouraging them to walk in a Godly manner and to lift their
spirits and remind them that they were serving the LORD on HIGH personally!

I found this such a moving teaching. I've never been one who wanted 15 minutes of fame nor even 2 minutes of it. I am an introvert who needs a lot of quiet time. And while that works quite well for me for my time with the Lord (and what a blessing is that?) I also love people and take them one at a time, slowly getting to know them. I never have many friends, but I have deep ones. And none of that is the description of someone seeking fame. Why this should be an issue for a Christian? Well, because American culture is so deeply involved in Hollywood-like dreams of fame, wealth etc., that it's even in our churches so constant as to be like dust which only the one who has to clean it really notices. For me this sermon is for people like me. Like you, who are reading this. You who have heard this sermon. We're "nobodies" on the World Stage and even the National, State and probably County stages. But that does not mean we are unimportant or unneeded. We're very much needed. I know this because I have had several "Tychicus" people in my life, whose steadfastness in the Lord, in the Word, in kindness and grace, in willingness to help "if they can" (and they always do!) are the docks I tie my boat to when coming out of prayer and study to the world of men. They help remind me of how to BE a Christian more than The Best Preacher I've Ever Heard, bar none. Why? Because they are my role models. Such an important and untitled position, as it should stay. Integrity, faithful brothers and sisters in Christ. Invaluable people. Invaluable. And none of it would be without the Lord Jesus Christ's great and abundant mercy.
