We need more Laine and Kevins in the world, chipper and ready to save and enrich. I am continually floored the amount of knowledge they have in architecture. Things I would never think of. Like finding and subsequently restoring the original “stone” façade of the home. It’s so beautiful. Ending is NOT better than mending.
Cherish the weather vain. Not the vain people. I probably didn't spell that correctly but this is my big hug to Laine. We all love the snap back snarky sarcastic Laine that put them lightening people in their place. ALL HAIL THE WEATHER VAIN. hail lol. Cheers.
I loved this episode!! It had all the things. A beautiful faux finish, old windows, architectural history lessons, salvage, misinformed weather vane enthusiasts and one big awesome kitty cat. All of my favorites!! Everything is looking very marvelous. Thank you for the video, as always 😁
Awww, I noticed the kitty even before you mentioned her! (I have three of my own.) Finding all the history of the property and sharing it with us is so interesting! (I love history!) The faux marble on the front of the house looks awesome! Excited to see the final reveal of Hope restored!
🔹I really HOPE (no pun intended) that you truly consider publishing a book on the restorative process that includes ALL THE SIGNIFICANT HISTORY you convey in these videos.🔹
This is looking magnificent! Your attention to detail is what makes this such a special restoration. I’m glad you’re using wavy glass in the sashes. It’s always wonderful to get updates on this wonderful property. Thank you both!
Super progress! The play doh explanation about how marble is formed was so good. I never knew that. The faux marble looks great. Thank you for the update.
❤❤❤ I am so happy to see progress on Hope!! The facade is lovely!! Putting in wavy glass will be awesome. Wow!! French history of Hope is so fascinating and interesting. Wouldn't it be cool to find remnants of other structures from that time!!? I absolutely love your interest in and dedication to the history. I love John!!! He is awesome!! Thank you so very much for sharing your restoration. You all are wonderful!!❤❤❤
Everybody's mouth when you show a view from the front porch 😲 I go right to....🎶 Just got back from Illinois, hit the front porch oh boy look at all those happy preachers dancing on the lawn!🎶 😁
Laine, Id wager my bet on you everytime when it comes to your historical knowledge of so, so, so much, well read, dedicating your whole selfs life to what you do and know. I just really, really admire and like you. I like Kevin too, but you are such a miraculous person and good on you. I love what you do and girl you look fantastic, it's diffinately working. Great job as always.
Thank you for explaining the process of sealing the charred wood. The carpenters' numbering system is a helpful piece of how Hope Farm was put together. The marbeling is worth all of your research and recreating. Thank you
Your knowledge and study of Hope farm’s history is fascinating. I think it only makes sense for the owner to build himself a comparable if not better structure than those he employed or enslaved. Keep up the research! Love your channel.
You did a great "vent". Can't stand know it all's that don't know how to control themselves. Long live the weather vane! It's where it needs to be and to function as it was intended/made for. Part of the character of that structure. Great updates on the going on's there and again, you've keep getting blessed with the talent that's needed for the job(s). Love the fur babies!
Let me be the first to say, BEANS! He's friggen adorable! The kitty is a chonk, and they both were throwing around those love looks! I'm so sorry your moment was ruined by know it alls 😢 I know i don't know a lot about historic homes so that's why I come and listen to you. You guys know alot because you've done your research! But what makes me love your channel so much is the fact that you care about the history cuz you don't want to spread misinformation. Which by the way is all know it alls do so don't let them ruin your day, week, month or even your year.

Thanks so much for the update. It was so interesting with all the different topics and introducing all the different craftsmen and sourcing of materials. I look forward so much for each new update.
People can be so rude, I’m sorry they pooped on your big moment. Just know that so many more of us celebrate your victories and respect you and your work! Big hugs to you both and all the furries.
Thanks you - just ordered the miracle sheets for my boyfriend's bday gift... which is a couple days after Christmas... Perfect- he is looking for a cool sheets for his bed. Perfect! Thank you and love your show!!!! You guys crack me up.. Shrek arms... hahaha
You guys worry to much about what people say and I can't help but think that the majority of the people that were worried about the weathervane really care about you and don't want you to go through the pain you went through with the other house. You are loved. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Hanging Chad's. Dimpled Chad's. Oh how I remember the recount. Hope farm is coming along!!!! You're all doing such fantastic work!!! And Matthew is an amazing artist. As I'm sure Austin is as well.
It’s looking so good Laine & Kevin! I’m sure y’all have already considered this, but have you looked into having dendrochronology done before you close that front wall back up?
I’m cold too, fellow southerner who once lived in Chicago for one winter lol got back where I belong as fast as I could!! Such great work you’ve done on this beautiful house💚💚closer and closer with every project to having her all shined up!!💚💚
I'm in Northeast OH now but I lived in FL, GA, SC, WV, CO for 17yrs & the cold down there was different. It was a wet cold & went straight to the bone. Up here on the beach in Ohio, the primary snowbelt, we just had over 5.5 FEET of snow, 40mph winds, buildings collapsing, teen temperatures & an all out state of emergency. But I love it! 💞
Wow, so much!! Loving the faux marble, beautiful work!! The columns look great! The history of all the piecey parts, so neat!! Thanks for the shout for Lexington.Ky.😊 So happy for you that things are moving along so well. Everyone involved, including you two, work so hard.Kitty, so cute. The tree lighting...oooo ahhh,Christmastimes a comin'!!! Yay.🎄🎀🎁Happy Holidays!!
A great video Miss Laine and Mr Kevin. So many things to be excited about. The front faux marble wall is gorgeous as will be those beautiful windows. Its so wonderful to find the right people to do what you need and that they are great humans to enjoy the journey with. Lots of love 🥰🥰🥰
Oh, I loved this episode so much!! I wished it were longer. Miss Laine, you are looking so pretty! How did the windows turn out after you steamed them? I'd have thought they would have warped but you know what you're doing for sure! Can't wait for the next update. Merry Christmas, y'all! Cheers from North Carolina
Wonderful update. You have great artistic talent working on Hope. I agree with you regarding the wall. Regardless of what others think, go with the research you have done and your gut instinct.
I recommend Royal Canin Weight Loss canned food for the beautiful kitty. Oyr vet said he needed to reduce his weight very slowly. Half a can in the am and half a can in the pm. It took a year but he lost 6 pounds! SO MUCH BETTER!

I’m SO GLAD ya’ll are back on You Tube again! I hope you sued that crazy lady in Arkansas for the damage she tried to do to your character. When one finger points at you there are still three pointing back at the accuser!
As always, enjoyable update. Learned some things. I have a "dependency" on 1880's house I am restoring maybe similar to the one you described. Believe it might have been very early cabin. Awaiting findings from a dendrochronology test. I was wondering if you could do a test on your old wall. Also wondered if you had pictures of the demolished enslaved persons abode? Very interested in these structures. Thanks
I love the details from the book (nice GIFT Kevin!) brownie points for sure! I loved learning all about it! Bossiage? SP unsure. I tried to Google it. I think it's taken me 3 attempts to sit and watch. I been busy of course with Christmas. Laine you sure look like your feeling better and svelte! Enjoyed kitty and the lovey dovey eyes dog gave so adoring. Have a merry Christmas guys and crew!
It's currently 58 degrees in wine country, Northern California, which is not quite so cold as your 48 degrees, but it would have to be in the 70's for me to consider it warm.

You might be able to do dendrochronology on one of the beams on the section of wall that you believe is older than the rest of the house.
Matthew did a great job on explaining the rock and way the formations takes place.
