Hi Robin! I too have been a Costco shopper for years. Now that it is only my husband and I at home, I am careful how I prepare and preserve the food items once they are home. I like your parents' idea of using muffin tins for applesauce. One thing I do differently is I buy a second package of chicken and cook it, then shred and chop the cooked chicken and freeze it in 2-3 cups portions. I always say 'My future self will thank me'. I loved this week's video, Robin! We are "empty nest"-ers, so we always shop mindfully at Costco. It doesn't really take that much time to buy in bulk and break it down into meal-size servings for the two of us. Also, you have sparked my husband's interest in the Zwilling vacuum seal system (I always use freezer bags and date them but would love to switch to something less wasteful; fingers crossed that he says we should try it 🙂). So lovely to see family come home for a visit! I know what it's like to have children who live far away, so these times are special. Enjoy your family time with Kyle and Lauren this week!

I love Costco but with only two of us, I also do a lot of repackaging. I cook and freeze ground beef too. And have become a pro at making fresh vegetables last. Wrapping zuchinni in linen napkins or paper towels controls moisture when kept in plastic bag for example. Enjoy your channel and hope you have a great visit with your son and daughter in law.

Above ground pools can be trickier to keep up than in ground pools, but your local pool store will have everything you need and usually people who can help you if you need it. ☀️😊🌼💛

My husband calls me "freezer queen" 🥶We have 2 small deep freezers - one for meats/seafood and one for everything else (breads, baked goods mostly) I've been making lots of freezer jam this year too. Have you tried molasses for granola? It's my favorite. My husband likes maple pecan so I alternate between that and molasses walnut. Thank you for this relaxing to watch video!

Enjoyed this whole vlog…and yes shopping in big box stores like Costco (we now have BJS ) is still a good value even though our kids are grown and out on their own…I avoid perishables that cannot be either consumed quickly or frozen. I DO still purchase lots of basics and also like you , buy the meats that are easy to divide and freeze…enjoy your break and time with your son and daughter in law…and congrats on being spotlighted in the homesteading magazine.

I'm really enjoying this video. As a mom of many, I also have children with special needs and not every child likes the same things. So I may make smaller potions of certain recipes to feed 5 or 6 of us and the others may want something else. I know there's ppl who will say make 1 meal and thats that, but sometimes that's not the case here. Chicken nuggets and Mac and cheese go well for some, but not everyone is I'll want that. I don't mind haven't different things as long as everyone is eating something.

I find those more user friendly because they come frozen in separate pieces and I can pull out what I need. Are they fresh if so how do you get them syrupy like that do you sugar them and let them set or are they thawed from frozen?
Hi Rhonda! I buy the blueberries frozen. Once they are thawed they release a lot of juice. They are wild blueberries with tons of flavor - so I never add sugar. I wish you all the best for your home renovations. I know it's a mess now, but soon it will be worth it! 😉😄💛

Love this video today and all of the things you cooked and your Costco halul. Rebecca and her family have a Costco membership and it’s about 30 minutes away. I’ll plan to get in on that when I am able. I am finally turning a corner and beginning to feel better after the nightmare I have been through over the last few months. Especially the last month has been horrendous. I had bad side effects from the infusions they were giving me. They have stopped those. Also had some bad reactions to other medicines that caused severe breathing problems. I have been so extremely sick but my family has taken such good care of me. My doctor tried twice to get me to go to the hospital but I’ve begged him to let me stay home. I spent eight days in the hospital in May and it was horrible. We do not have a good hospital here. Anyway things are getting better and I’m starting to get some strength back each day. Don’t know what the next steps are but I have a ways to go to get back up on my feet. Thanks again for your fun videos. They made my day. Love in Christ

Thank you Marita! I’m still not 100% sure about the chicken either. The organic chicken isn’t a huge savings, but it’s convenient to pick it up there when doing my other shopping. I do find that you have to do your homework- not everything is a great deal. 👍😉😊💛
Great video and demonstration. I personally think it better value to buy a whole chicken. I don’t have Costco where I live but Lidl sold little mesh reusable bags a while back for fruit and vegetables which I bought. Unfortunately the stuff is still being sold in plastic wrapping and prepackaged so where’s the point? I think all that plastic packaging should be banned.

Hi Patricia! I love both the glass and the bags. If I had room in my freezer I would probably use the glass more, but the bags take up much less space. I have been using them for several months and really love them. I have friends who have been hooked for years, so I'm glad I gave them a try. Hope that helps! ☺🌻💛

do not freeze feta cheese, what we do in Greece to preserve feta is we mix salt and water and we put the feta inside, it will be ok for weeks

I’ll plan to get in on that when I am able. I am finally turning a corner and beginning to feel better after the nightmare I have been through over the last few months. Especially the last month has been horrendous. I had bad side effects from the infusions they were giving me. They have stopped those. Also had some bad reactions to other medicines that caused severe breathing problems. I have been so extremely sick but my family has taken such good care of me. My doctor tried twice to get me to go to the hospital but I’ve begged him to let me stay home. I spent eight days in the hospital in May and it was horrible. We do not have a good hospital here. Anyway things are getting better and I’m starting to get some strength back each day. Don’t know what the next steps are but I have a ways to go to get back up on my feet. Thanks again for your fun videos. They made my day. Love in Christ

I don’t really find their chicken to be the best deal, but I do like to buy their organic ground beef. It’s a staple for us.
Thank you Marita! I’m still not 100% sure about the chicken either. The organic chicken isn’t a huge savings, but it’s convenient to pick it up there when doing my other shopping. I do find that you have to do your homework- not everything is a great deal. 👍😉😊💛

I don’t have Costco where I live but Lidl sold little mesh reusable bags a while back for fruit and vegetables which I bought. Unfortunately the stuff is still being sold in plastic wrapping and prepackaged so where’s the point? I think all that plastic packaging should be banned.

Hi Patricia! I love both the glass and the bags. If I had room in my freezer I would probably use the glass more, but the bags take up much less space. I have been using them for several months and really love them. I have friends who have been hooked for years, so I'm glad I gave them a try. Hope that helps! ☺🌻💛

Gosh I see Amazon is encouraging all TH-camrs now. It's a great way to earn money from the channel I guess, but maybe a lot of pressure to get the videos up in time to get paid?
