    Such great information! I am a single-person biz right now and negotiating a big wholesale white label account. Everything you share is inspiring me and giving me confidence. I really appreciate how open you are about everything, good or bad. And you answered my internal dust cover question....when to use and when not to bother. THANK YOU

    Hey gal, why not add a QR code for candle care page on your website on that cardboard thingy? People can scan and read about it. Sending love❤

      Yes, I definitely can! I find that I'm always trying to walk a fine line because they want people to come back and buy from them instead of going straight to my site so I feel like that might not be well received. Also, My prices are slightly lower $2 because of my shipping charge is ridiculous. I just try to be weary of those who are shopping in their stores to not steal of cannibalize the business if that makes sense. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

    Do you have a longer talk about dust covers? You saying this is so relevant as I’m moving to makesy vessels and considering going lid free

    • @UpsideGoodsCo
      @UpsideGoodsCo  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have one but when I was in R+D I asked my insta following if they wanted lids and about 95% said they could careless. I offer them on my site for people to add on and I do dust covers for my WS accounts because they are on display. Lids are not necessary in my mind and haven’t hindered my business or my bottom line!

    Hey! Thanks for all the tips and tricks on something so big and scary!! I was curious if you do wholesale through faire or your website? If it's your website how do you set that up? Loving all the honesty and information on wholesale!!

    • @UpsideGoodsCo
      @UpsideGoodsCo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both! I use faire but it's not very successful and then I have an inquiry form on my website where they have to email me and we start a conversation!

    So what do say when you reach out to businesses/boutiques? That’s what I’m having trouble with…the wording.

    • @UpsideGoodsCo
      @UpsideGoodsCo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't overthink it! it's just a conversation where you are letting them know about your candles... you're the expert about those, remember!

      I struggle here too which is why I've never even picked up the phone. I don't even know what to say first.. like hey to love your store or hey this is who I am.. or what 🤷‍♀️

    Hi Ashley! I just got my very first wholesale order about 3 weeks ago… I think I screwed it up. I’m a very shy person. I didn’t interacted much because I was really afraid of saying the wrong thing. I hope that my candles would just speak for itself but I still regret how I presented myself. I’m not sure if they will order again. It’s hard to get into a store where I am.there are so much competition. I enjoy candle making but my website is not busy yet. I realize I need to develop a better social skill and put myself out there. It’s very hard 😢.

      I'd suggest you reaching out to them now! And be transparent, say you are shy, that you don't do this often and are just really grateful and everything you've shared here. I promise it's not lost and people understand but you definitely will have to find a way to represent your brand that you can feel somewhat comfortable with because it's a competitive market no matter how great a candle is, you need to showcase the maker too! You've got this!

      @@UpsideGoodsCo Hi Ashley, first of all happy Easter. Thank you for a very, very good advice. I have thought about reaching out to them and be honest about the whole first encounter just like you said, and I will. I know it’s not gonna be easy to put myself out there, but my passion for candlemaking is important to me. Thank you for your reply. Best regards!! Kate

    This was SUPER helpful!
    What terms do you layout for them? Do you have a contract? Do they order with you or on your website. Trying to crack the wholesale but, but not in the candle game. Thanks for sharing your journey!

    • @UpsideGoodsCo
      @UpsideGoodsCo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have yet to have a situation where a contract is necessary. most of my accounts are very close in proximity to me and have built relationships that while I still could be caught in a sticky situation, I'm not dealing with orders that are going to put me out of business. Once those happen at that size, a contract will happen. Most order through a inquiry form on my website where they email me and we get the conversation going. The rest go through Faire but it's a VERY small percentage as Faire is just kind of a invoicing/shipping placeholder for me at this point.

    Thanks Ashley, so helpful! Hope you are doing well. I'm a one woman show; launched last September. I'm in full-on overwhelm mode trying to keep track of all the tasks I need to do. Would love to know how you keep yourself organized. Do you have a planner, calendar, checklist, whatever that you use and recommend? Love your channel and always look forward to your posts!

      Off the top of my head as I often feel overwhelmed and don't have my shit together, I got one of those weekly calendars that have no dates and you just fill in week by week as you go with tear off sheets. Those have been so lovely for me because I have my running to do list but I can also organize my week on paper to see what all needs to be done, what is priority, what is ideal etc. Maybe that will help you?
