We have a 2018 macdon swather on my farm in Manitoba Canada. They are very fun to drive, they are more like a zero turn lawnmower than anything else. We barely use it now because we get our canola sprayed by plane and straight cut every year now. P.s. Macdon is a great company both to work with and their products are amazing. We use their heads on both our combines and they’re phenomenal. Super cool to see a local company on FS!
@@Barry_Blaakthat’s just a bug I’d say. where I live it’s just as hilly as the fs maps worse in some places better than others. Uneven land wouldn’t be an issue. I don't know if you know this already but, there is a new mod called "Park Vehicles" that you should get for that small truck so you don't keep tabbing to it.
cant wait for the VehicleInfo or VehicleExplorer mod to be ready for FS25.. selecting the vehicle you want from a list is so much better then having to park (and walk to them later) or tab trough all of them..
25:00 you had to to it from the front (where it attaches to swather then you can change driving direction with left shift and B to make the back the front
@Daggerwin if you dont want your rice to wither than change your game settings for each month has 2 days instead of one, everytime you sleep or wait to midnight one entire month has pass and it has not been flooded thats why it goes from 66% to 0% like that, try months with 2 days and see if it made a difference.
It’s very common in Canada. We swath the crop when it’s still green and is turning brown. Swathing allows it to die faster and evenly… this was the only way to harvest canola and some crops before spraying came in
@@MrBertstareya there are varieties of canola now that the pods are stronger. Before if u tried lots of pods would split open loosing a lot of crop due to wind, threshing etc. but now we spray saves you like 60 hours of work every year
That 4th log was like the meme of a dog trying to carry a long branch or stick through a doorway and getting stuck. The grabber attachment isn't so great for trees.
I would strongly recommend selling off the small sawmill you've got, and replacing it with the medium sawmill. It looks like just a much larger version of the one you've placed, costs ~155k, so is a bit pricey, but hold 50,000L of wood, and processes MUCH faster than the small version. It also has dedicated output spots for each product type, instead of the tiny little shared output that only fits 2-3 pallets. Added bonus is that it also produces woodchips as a side product of all 3 processes, which can then be sold for extra income. Decent example for it being: I could fit every tree from a deadwood contract into the mill at once, which were then turned into 2 wood beam pallets, 2 long plank pallets, and 3 short plank pallets. Total income was nearly 70K of that single deadwood contract, which was nearly 50% of the cost of the sawmill. The sawmill on the map IIRC costs 300K, but has 3-4x the output or the medium sawmill, and can also produce prefab walls, which neither the small or medium sawmills can. (Even though the medium sawmill actually has a 4th dedicated output space, presumably for the prefab walls, which would be it's 4th product. But as of right now it just stays empty.
Here in Sweden we measure wood in cubic meters (m3) so thousands of liters. But we also use diffrent types of cubic meters. for example there is m3fub which is cubic meters of a log under the bark or m3sk which is the entire tree with branches, stump and bark. I have some videos on my channel of how forestry in Sweden works if you would be intrested in watching how the harvesters and forwarders are used professionally.
july is peak wood chip prices, you could lease the chipper for ~ 5 k for the day and turn the extra logs into chips and easily make it back in one load of chips in your grain trailer and then complete the contract and return the chipper
Wow he put together just how much of a colossal time sink that horses are in this game far faster than I thought he would. Honestly, if you want it bad enough, you can always just commission a modder to remake it. That would be fastest way to get yourself the mod that you clearly need.
Not sure if you grabbed it but there is a collectible at the hut at the top of the rock behind your workshop Also there is another on the west side of the village near the restaurant sell point (north of 38, in the stepping garden)
You might need to look at the price of bottle buffalo milk, since you get 1800l of bottle milk and only 600l of mozarella from the same 900l of buffalo milk. So if my math is right, mozarella needs to cost more than 3x the price you would get from bottled milk in order to be more profitable.
I’m not sure if I’m correct so it would be a good test but I believe 1T of wood is equal to about 1000L. And there is a collectible you were fairly close to in the last episode riding Dave by the intersection southeast of field 34 on the coastline.
Like you said the canola you can knock the seed out pretty easy, the idea of the swather is to cut it before its fully dried down and use the pick up head on the combine when its ready. It also allows for a far more even dry on the straw of your baling it
before the modern combine came alone with osr side knifes we use to swath all our osr instead of spraying it off. so used to cut it abit green also spraying pod stick on which we still do now, lessening the risk of pod shatter
Hey Daggerwin, not sure if this has been mentioned before, but you only need to flood rice fields for 2 months after panting it, flooding it too much can cause it whither
I've been doing the same thing for wood for my sawmill. You get roughly 2000 liters per tree, so I just grab what I need and end the contract. It's no big deal, there's one there to do pretty much all the time so keeping the wood on the trailer really isn't needed. Also, even if you don't collect the contract will eventually expire and take the wood anyways so you might just as well end the contract and get the $ for doing it.
I say you should use the MacDon swather permanently as, not only it is cool, but (if I’m remembering FarmerCop’s Video correctly) You get 25% more crop AND straw! Plus, it also doubles as your mower.
Glad im not the only one that had issues with swathing on uneven ground. I have a field with even slightly uneven sections and it just will not pick it up. Had to turn off crop destruction over it.
I’m glad that he always say it’s semi realistic. I don’t care if it’s a game or not if you’re trying to go realistic, you do not stack like that. Makes smaller branches ain’t like you’re losing anything you put it into your sawmill.
I'm not sure if you have found it yet but you should have the parking mod so that you can "park" the Piaggio. That way you won't have to tab past it when hopping between vehicles.
Since you have access to the dev commands like the flying camera there is another trick to help doing the dead wood contracts without really cheating. If you press F4 it changes your view to wire frame (which is kind of cool too), and it is then easier to locate the target trees once you recognize the pattern. F4 again to switch back to regular view. Using this trick you can complete dead wood contracts at night while it's raining. I dislike the current contract process for dead wood. The game wants you to cut down specific dead trees but won't actually tell you where to find them in a dense forest It isn't always ALL dead wood either. There have been contracts where some dead trees appear to be special and you get yelled at if you cut it down.
RE the small wood mill, I think it needs quite a lot of balance, it's a semi-passive income (one delivery a year) of around £120k, but seems quite slow. I haven't done any proper forestry, just clearing trees out of the way, and kept it going for the last 5 years or so.
You need to have level field areas, when the swather cannot do the job, soften the field there , and next time will be perfect .... it's a difference from left side header to right side header, in height
Keep ricefield flooded two more months after sowing. Third growth stage it needs to be dry. Too long flooding and plants start dying. Long grain flooded only when first sprouts have emerged from the soil. Wiki: help menu.
I am surprised that deadwood brings in so much wood. If I remember correctly it was just a hundred liters per tree or so on Silverrun. Definitely not something I'd complain about though, feels good to actually get something out of the fairly low paying deadwood contracts. I bought the swather outright and so far only used it for one harvest of a custom field. I have the same problems you do, in that it just leaves pretty significant portions of the field unharvested. I can usually fix that by going over it again from a different angle. But it's fairly annoying, especially after paying 300k for it with the swather and the two headers. The regular harvester has zero issues with the same field.
hi dagger, just thinking about how you worry you dont get money for the planks you sell at the temple. i looked in the .xml for the temple building and found out that it has 51 building stages. 35 of those are just 12K beams and long planks. so 420k of both for just those 35 stages. the rest is either 6k beams alone, beams and roofplates, planks and cement bags and whatnot. so i think its safe to say the temple wont be giving you money anymore. if you complete the building, the selltrigger obviously dissapears. imo the temple building is way too expensive and lots of people will never see it finished (unless they modify files or use mods) because even with the big sawmill and whatever it will take ingame years to get enough materials to complete. let alone the transport trips, even if you pack the krone trailer to the fullest you'll get about 30 double pallets in. that is about 20 trips all in all if you wait for full loads everytime
I do find it funny sometimes you just concentrate so much on one thing and pass time ignoring the fact that you have had a grass field which has been ready to cut for months and earn you money. Considering how you keep saying how difficult it is to earn money I don’t know why you ignore it. So in this Episode you passed through 3 months to get the saw mill to take wood and the canola fields to be ready. In the previous episode cutting the grass was going to be your main task for this one . Hahaha
you don't have to ride your horses every day, just ride and clean them a few months before selling to get their health max. I think it takes about 5 months to go from 0 to 100%
I’m not sure if it’s possible to unload one horse from a trailer that is not by a stable. If it was possible you could take the horses in a trailer close to a collectable and ride the horses to get them… Just an idea.💡

Cool to try it out but seems a bit pointless swathing in game as you’re not trying to kill the plant ready to be harvested, also you’re adding a whole other operation (cost) onto the crop, a bigger combine would be the smart investment here
Swathing in game gives you a 25% yield bonus on both the crop and the straw (if applicable). So if your field would normally produce 10k of each, it will instead produce 12.5k.
It is called a Swather and you turn the seat around and the attachment will spawn on the front once the hitch is by the front. DJGOHAM has videos that explain it.
You know it's a Daggerwin video when: looks directly at tow hitch, says there's no tow hitch. Makes more work for himself by driving back and forth twice when he could have done it once.
Rice harvest problem: I think the trick is to NOT flood the field in final growing stage. I did that an I got no ghosts/chef’s hats. So I flooded - planted - flooded two more days, didn’t flood the next day, then harvested when ready. Hopefully that’s right

if there is a black horse, another good name i like would be shadow, unless u already named one that, i cant remember what all the names u said was lol.
Will once again mention it here, the small production buildings are almost *entirely* pointless and would take dozens and dozens of ingame years to even pay for the cost of placing it. Some will even lose you money(a couple reach around -10K a year!) because their production rate is so bad and upkeep cost so high that you are essentially turning the value of the input into somthing that achieves a net loss of value in the end! The sawmill(only long planks and beams), turning long grain rice into boxes or flour, and silage/manure/slurry into the biogas plant are the only ones AFAIK that would even remotely pay for itself within a few ingame years of production! If you do use the other ones, please be aware that it should only be done for RP reasons at this point, otherwise you are wasting your time and money.
Idk if you realised but with the macdon swather you can turn the seat so that you can tow the header
I didn’t know, I might overlooked it but know now!!
I was thinking I saw them rolling down the road "backward" IRL, but wasn't sure it was the same model.
Yep bi directional

The MacDon can turn around to tow our header
I want to use the swather, but I haven't been able to afford it. Soon though!
Is it worth selling the rice saplings from the greenhouse? Would help out the budget situation
He still doesn't realized he bought cows instead of water buffalo
Did Giant even test this game, before releasing it…there are so many things that needs to be fixed.
if there is a black horse, another good name i like would be shadow, unless u already named one that, i cant remember what all the names u said was lol.
