@@Bonsaiworx thanks. I look up pinus parviflora and I get goldilocks, glauca, Bergman just to name a few . I guess we can use any variety? Same with jbp there's a few different kinds but I don't think thunderhead is really used or is it?

Lovely tree there David. Although I do have a couple of Japanese white pine, pines are still something of an alien species to me 😊

What a stunning white pine! What are the names of the usual jbp that are used for bonsai? And I guess jwp are just called 5 needle pines?
Pinus parviflora is the best to use for its small needles.

Not 100% sure which one is used mainly though. Usually it’s just pinus parviflora. These sound like slight different varieties.
