I've always had a passing interest in the games, and ended up getting GAMMA, but never really got into it all that much. This film's hype pushed me to get more into the IP and mess around in the game and talk to people in the community. I was a little sad to find that there were only a handful of people in the STALKER community that were interested in the film, but it brought people like myself into the IP itself. After Dollhouse and Overlord, I was hooked on seeing what other content Evan could make, live action or otherwise. I'm also still hoping there's a possible future for Heretic to return, as unlikely as that is.
I am a long time Stalker fan. I have been playing the games since they came out. I also play all the big mods and the small ones also. I loved the film. I have watched it several times. You guys did a great job with what you have and exceeded my expectations. Koodus and cheers Stalkers. Just because somebody has a discord or a youtube channel, they do not speak for all of us.
You can really see the amount of work you put into this in the final product, the attention to detail was fantastic. I think in particular, the look of Crow was just spot on, I'd say it's accurate to how I imagine a real world Loner would look without straying too far from the look and feel of the games, if that makes sense. They'd have sort of kit bashed equipment, just using the best stuff they can find and sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not great. Gives him a sort of experienced, "getting by with what he can find" kind of aesthetic, which while this exact design isn't a perfect 1:1 recreation of the exact look from the games, it is a perfect adaptation of the spirit of what the Loners are as a faction and honestly I think that works better, feels tailor made to be this new character in an existing world. Perfezione.
I love it, watching it I could see the passion in it and I watched it a few times. Just got done watching it with a friend who is newer to S.T.A.L.K.E.R and he enjoyed it as well. But seeing the bts brings me so much more joy. Wonderful work to all of you, honestly didn't know the film was a thing until I saw it drop. Thank your work and to everyone who supported them and remember. Duty will be running interference
Shadow of the Zone has been my favourite short film in recent memory. Everyone involved knocked it out of the park and made me even more excited for S2
9:20 you definitely succeeded with that. A cool detail was the main cast calming down after the gunfight. It's like when instead of loud guns and ears ringing (if you aren't wearing hearing protection) you end up in a quieter space and the only sounds that can be heard being from nature
11:32 idk if it was just me but when I saw the stars, now that I know it was tracked on, looking at the stars still made me feel like the sequence was shot inside a large filming set and the stars are literally on the ceiling
i love how you made this film scream authenticity from start to finish always keeping a balance between the zone, your story , and the imagination of the viewer, it shows how you and your team truly captured the experience of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R, congrats!
The night sequence has got to be the most Hardest ever scene I have ever seen! Like this is legitimately better than any of your Hollywood counterparts
i loved the touch of the film distortion from radiation. its not only a nod to the photos and film from the OG disaster, but its also a constant reminder: you are NEVER safe here. also i was a little surprised that the spinning lights in the plant werent given an objectively too loud, annoying, and slightly comical squeaking sound (jk that woulda fucked with the vibe)
Dude I loved the firefight sound design so much, like the suppressed guns still being loud, the grenades being more concussive and not a giant fireball like Hollywood makes them, it's so perfect
You have good reason to be very proud of this piece, sir. The only complaint I have is that it wasn't long enough. Leaving your audience wanting more is the sign that you're doing it right. Keep up the excellent work. I always look forward to everything you do.
I’ve found that the perfect sweet spot for small details is when the nerds can appreciate them separately and the general audience can appreciate them as a part of the whole, which I think you guys did a good job accomplishing
Loved this, I actually had the AEM-01 Hoodie and some Navy BDUs before the movie was released so now i know what I'm cosplaying as from here on out 😈😈😈
Truly an amazing experience!!! You and everyone truly out done yourselves with shadow of the zone! I look towards the future with great interest. Hope some bigger studio or production company recognizes your talents and vision and give you a big budget to make a truly unique experience one day
Im really glad to have been part of the process in funding it and seeing the early preview, you guys did that a phenomenal job given the budget and the constraints of what you had to work with. Having a small break down of the BTS is the icing on the cake for all of us that want to see more of how things are done. This really makes me excited to see what's next on the project list and what new challenges will come up. Maybe its me, but i feel like something in the FEAR or Condemned universe would be right up your alley considering your penchant for horror-action.
As a day 1 stalker fan, I loved. I did notice all the little details and the sheer amount of work you guys did. I loved it and will be watching it again!
It brought enough S.T.A.L.K.E.R. vibes that it got me back into the games, and now I’m actually considering buying S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. Despite differences it has with the games, it got the vibes and rekindled a fire. I’d say that’s enough to make it good in my book
Played the original trilogy, vanilla and modded, Played Gamma and anomaly, Though there were some discrepancies, I still believe the film was a love letter and you guys told your own story inside the world, and not just repeated one from the game, This has made the wait for S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 , lighter THANKS FOR THE HARD WORK
The set and background additions really add to the immersion and world building, reminding you that there are thousands of other stalker fighting at the same time
The attention to detail, the story telling, the cinematography and passion you guys have for film-making and STALKER is really amazing! Can't wait for your next project! Good job once again, and appreciate all the effort you guys do, it DOES MATTER those details, makes the world lived in and maybe you wont notice them but "your brain did"!
I have no idea how I missed the release of this. That said, you all did a gorgeous job. A tiny snippet of the feeling and idea that the series tries to convey. In my view, you honored the series, even if there were small mistakes here n there.

I absolutely loved your stalker video. Crow is my favorite stalker now lmfao and i feel a little guilty anytime i shoot a merc now, it could be one of the good ones lol. Hope you guys do more! Fighting monolith was fucking awesome the way they ate bullets and just moved like a hive mind to overwhelm the enemy.
if only the budget was bigger and the cast was larger the movie could show the mutants and much more but considering the size and budget? this was a SPOT ON film! it mirrors the lore perfectly and is similar in "dress" as S.T.A.L.K.E.R 1 game and lore in-between both 1 & 2 and the books. The shots of the "radiated" camera? masterful. Props to the actors as they felt like the real deal.
You guys did a phenominal job with the sound of the suppressed weapons. Probably one of the best or maybe THE best i've heard. Bravo on the whole thing, i really enjoyed it but extra bravo to the sound on the guns coming from a dumb gun nerd XD
It was a real treat to see this all come together over on Kickstarter! Much love to you and the team, Evan. Even if it wasn't all that popular with existing S.T.A.L.K.E.R fans, I've had a lot of friends I showed it to become interested in the series and start to play the games and read up on the lore so you've definitely made an impact! Just in time for S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 how about that lol 🙏
the actor for beowulf (i helieve his name was? The older man doing radio) was absolutely amazing. I loved the look of an older man in modern kit still working.
I'm one of those who don't know about the game. only started to get into the realm after seeing a new game coming soon, haven't played the first. This film has me HOOKED. I love the film so much. All the hardwork that went into it really shows. I even watched it twice, something I don't do with most entertainment. I got my parents to join. They enjoyed it as well. The portion of this video about the after effects that needed to be added is so interesting to me. currently thinking of how I can learn more about the process, software and whatever goes into it. Much love to all involved in this film. I'm glad it happened and hope to see more from yall.
Fun Fact: The Russian FSB uses western plate carriers like the JPC 1.0 and CPC, so it's not even too far from reality that Crow might've just been an Ex-FSB or had FSB Buddies in the past.
just wanna say i've only ever heard of the stalker games haven't played any of them but watching shadow of the zone was an experience even someone like me could get behind, with no prior knowledge of the game's lore or anything it was very interesting and the atmosphere was insanely well done, and with such a low budget you guys achieved something special, great work
Watched Shadow of the Zone with my girlfriend, and the first initial shootout with the bandits she says "oh my god why is it so realistic?" If that isn't a compliment on production quality, I don't know what is. I was just in awe of how you guys nailed the sound of a suppressed 5.56. One thing, I do kind of wish the unsuppressed gunfire was louder. The M249 to me didn't quite roar hard enough, but that's my one little tiny little bitchy complaint. Really really top quality movie, and the fact I get to watch it on TH-cam for free blows my mind. I regret I didn't donate for this one, but I will be sure to for future projects!
The short film was amazing legit. Only thing I wish you guys did which would of been extremely hard or maybe impossible was to add a scene with mutants? I felt it was the only thing missing. Extremely excited to what you guys produce next
I honestly liked the film a lot, it genuinely felt like a plausible thing that could happen or exist in the Stalker series, and I also liked the fact the equipment got updated to more modern standards because even in the Zone, there would need to be some form of equipment making it's way in with all the people constantly going in for their own reasons. I do think it would've been cool to see a character or two (even if dead) wearing a recreation of the older style armor and gear from the games though, just a slight nod to what can be found in the actual games. I will say I think the lack of mutants kind of makes sense, at least in the last part of the film, since it was a location previously controlled, there most likely wouldn't have been many or any mutants close by due to being killed off, but having a few in other parts of the film could've spiced it up a bit.
I would love to see more of the audio setup/field recording aspects from your films - I work with that kind of equipment, and got a bit excited seeing the shot of the 833 3:43 😄
I was a little sad to find that there were only a handful of people in the STALKER community that were interested in the film, but it brought people like myself into the IP itself.
The little brats stuck in 2007 do not speak for me or the rest of the community. Stalker has always been pretty tacticool to a degree.
You guys did an excellent job! This was really great. The sound, atmosphere, effects, and acting were really well done.
Hope some bigger studio or production company recognizes your talents and vision and give you a big budget to make a truly unique experience one day
my only complaint is that i wish the movie was longer.
I'm just excited to see another Evan & Stephen collaboration.
Y'all knocked it out of the park with this one.
As a day 1 stalker fan, I loved. I did notice all the little details and the sheer amount of work you guys did. I loved it and will be watching it again!
I’m going to be thinking about that night scene for years, absolutely godly shot
Played the original trilogy, vanilla and modded,
Played Gamma and anomaly, Though there were some discrepancies,
I still believe the film was a love letter and you guys told your own story inside the world, and not just repeated one from the game,
This has made the wait for S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 , lighter
THANKS FOR THE HARD WORK
Stalker should be in a movie theater
it was
@i_basl WHAAATT? when and where?
@uncoolguy before it’s release on youtube they toured the US and showed it in theatres. unfortunately that ended a few months ago☹️
But does he know?
Man i got SOOOO many good nostalgia vibes from the film and loved every second of it!
Standing ovations for everyone involved in this masterpiece.
man this was quite something, i hope you guys do more projects in the future
Thank you so much for allowing for so much insight into how you boys made this incredible creation. Fantastic effort with such a genius output, ya'll have to be super proud of this achievement.
First time a movie from yt made my heart legit pound on my chest, this is amazing in every single way possible
The flim looks like it's going to be great, and this bts was amazingly insightful! Thank you!
It's admirable all the effort that was put in the details, and the night shots UUUUUFF beautiful
thank you guys so much for continuing to bring truly creative artwork to this world that is so full of slop.
This had hands down the best suppressed rifle sound I have ever heard. The entire film was awesome!
Im here for iceberg boy
Love how going from Halo Machinima to the Big Screen was mentioned. Watching you guys go from Machinima 10 years ago to Live Action now has been so nice to see! Can’t wait to see the next project!
I have an enormous amount of respect for you guys. This was hands down the best S.T.A.L.K.E.R movie I’ve ever watched! I hope you guys make it in the industry and do many more films!
20:20 Oh yes.... we did ! and always will for every work you'll make in the futur !!
if only the budget was bigger and the cast was larger the movie could show the mutants and much more but considering the size and budget? this was a SPOT ON film! it mirrors the lore perfectly and is similar in "dress" as S.T.A.L.K.E.R 1 game and lore in-between both 1 & 2 and the books.
The shots of the "radiated" camera? masterful. Props to the actors as they felt like the real deal.
you did something great and emotional, as fans we are so grateful. "Details matter". Amen.
such an unbelievable project that i was anticipating for so long. i can't wait to see what these guys continue to produce.
Im looking forward to what you guys are gona be making next this was impressive. I have not seen gunplay this good in a longggggg time !
You guys did a phenominal job with the sound of the suppressed weapons. Probably one of the best or maybe THE best i've heard. Bravo on the whole thing, i really enjoyed it but extra bravo to the sound on the guns coming from a dumb gun nerd XD
Congratulations!
That's the only thing I can say about your piece of art!
No matter what some say, it's an amazing initiative! Keep up the good work!
God bless you guys. I really am so happy to have helped fund the project!
the actor for beowulf (i helieve his name was? The older man doing radio) was absolutely amazing. I loved the look of an older man in modern kit still working.
Bring life back into film one movie at a time, can't wait to see where you go next Evan!
Crow's look at the camera is just like "Ivan..the fuck is my vodka?"
Fun Fact: The Russian FSB uses western plate carriers like the JPC 1.0 and CPC, so it's not even too far from reality that Crow might've just been an Ex-FSB or had FSB Buddies in the past.
9:20
I definitely had adrenaline running through me when I watched the firefight, so you definitely succeeded.
very good. you successfully added to the lore without breaking the universe.
just wanna say i've only ever heard of the stalker games haven't played any of them but watching shadow of the zone was an experience even someone like me could get behind, with no prior knowledge of the game's lore or anything it was very interesting and the atmosphere was insanely well done, and with such a low budget you guys achieved something special, great work
Watched Shadow of the Zone with my girlfriend, and the first initial shootout with the bandits she says "oh my god why is it so realistic?"
If that isn't a compliment on production quality, I don't know what is.
Those night shots are the most impressive. Great work
It was extremely cool to hear Ukrainian being spoken in the film by characters. I'm grateful for it, as a Ukrainian.
In my humble opinion this was a fantastic piece of work .
we need the story of crow! when sequel/prequel with crow soloing the shit out of the zonee
I loved the film SO MUCH. Love your guys’s work and hope to see more! ( P.s. a SCP film of this length and quality would be SICK. )
Cheers!
The short film was amazing legit.
Only thing I wish you guys did which would of been extremely hard or maybe impossible was to add a scene with mutants? I felt it was the only thing missing.
Extremely excited to what you guys produce next
from making short movies in GTA 5 to this, my good sir, I salute you
I honestly liked the film a lot, it genuinely felt like a plausible thing that could happen or exist in the Stalker series, and I also liked the fact the equipment got updated to more modern standards because even in the Zone, there would need to be some form of equipment making it's way in with all the people constantly going in for their own reasons.
Every movie is a miracle but this movie is a god damn triumph
I would love to see more of the audio setup/field recording aspects from your films - I work with that kind of equipment, and got a bit excited seeing the shot of the 833 3:43 😄
I could tell the care of the source material in every scene from the movie. Really could not have asked for more.
Super cool movie. I watched with my dad who had never heard of stalker before and he was just as enraptured as I was.
I’ve never played stalker, but I still enjoyed this movie so much. Definitely getting a rewatch
It was so interesting to see how this masterpiece was made!
Guys, movie was amazing. I'm really glad you enjoyed the ride making it!🥳
