As a former medic, the C8R reminds me of my rig and I love it. They did a great job with it. Hope to see a few more Pisces variants. I've love a mini drop ship with 4 jump seats and a weapons rack, maybe a similar passenger variant like the Argo MPUV Personnel (but with a jump drive), and maybe a Pisces variant with a scanning suite (similar to the Anvil Terrapin).
A pisces that acts as a small RV would be cool also. Clearly there is enough room for a small kitchenette and bed, and maybe they could turn the decontamination chamber into a sort of mudroom/armory.
I love the Pisces in general, adding a medical version made me very happy. It seems that being able to land something the size of the Cutlass Red in a larger ship is going to be fairly limited, the small size of the Pisces is a complete win. Picked one up during IAE
One thing that wasn't mentioned in the video is that the med bed can restore your food and water levels. (so can the cutty red) It's pretty handy not having to buy food and drinks all the time and since it can spawn at XS pads and the claim time is almost instant, you've never got an excuse for starving if you own one.
I think that they should allow you to reset your respawn point to the nearest allowed station/respawn location via the panel in the pisces and allow the respawn to be set to a ship if the ship is either owned by the player or by a different player in the same team as the player. The same could also apply to the Cutlass Red.
I find it a perfect bunker mission ship when you don't have a lot of time in the PU, its so quick and nimble, with the bonus you can heal yourself or friends. I really enjoy mine.

This was as enjoyable as those first great Morph vids I remember, and I just want to say thank you for adding to the community’s voice regarding our displeasure. I believe the sooner CIG feels the pressure, the sooner we will have tier 0s of an array of gameplay categories that typically come in MMOs and the loops we’ve been promised for years
Unfortunately it will perform the opposite. It will create technical debt for them because you want them to rush features out. What would be better, is if people took some time to understand game development and support CIG with it.
C8R is a ship that I didn't know I needed. Having access to a medic ship that can basically fit into any cave or tight space this was a nobrainer for me. It will be pretty cheap ingame but I think having always access to a ship like that is worth the cash in my eyes.
I think one of the most exciting things is how much it fit in a small space. I'm sure that med bed could fit in the back of an ursa too. That would almost instantly open up low tier medical gameplay wide without intruding on the medic role itself, i think. Also the idea of a connie coming in hot as an ursa drops from the cargo bed on a rescue mission is just *chef kiss*
This gives me hope that CIG woud either create a variant or allow us to modify our ships. I have a Pisces and I would love to be able to put in a bed, kitchenette, and shoilet. This shows that it can fit. I don't mind losing a few more cargo points. My gameplay will probably be a little touring, a little exploration, a box run or two, and a lot of running away. I used to have ambitions of putting together a fleet of ships, but now a small, nimble ship will do me fine.
I've actually daydreamed about making a little touring version of the Pisces and call it the Sunfish. No need for cargo capacity beyond a bit of personal storage for weapons and gear. It could function as a long range hotel room for players on an expedition with their group, or just a pleasant little tooling around craft. Not a small utility ship like the original, but it could function in a courier capacity to run sensitive but physically compact items or a passenger or two in a discrete little flyer. I'd probably want to leave the large dropping rear ramp access behind and use a fixed rear hull with a regular door with steps. MAYBE maybe maybe a very small airlock would fit, but it would probably require the door section to be blistered out of the rear of the hull by a few feet so that it doesn't take up too much internal space. I also thought of the Gunfish, which leans into a different role for a little companion ship. This one sacrifices the cargo space to add a manned dorsal turret and a heavier shield, and it probably would need to carry a few missiles too. It wouldn't be intended as a true fighter, but rather as a kind of picket ship, a craft meant to orbit and screen its larger ship while allowing the commander to execute more complicated actions. The Gunfish would likely have to sacrifice basically all non-combat utility and suffer a greatly increased price in order to justify the modification from a reasonable work van into a well armed pocket gunship that can actually give pause to the kind of ship that would cause concern for a large vessel. And then the last version I wanted would be a survey model with a bitchin' sensor suite and maybe a bit of added range. Something used to access difficult jump points and maybe chart a route back through more convenient but previously unknown paths.
With the new Loreville right around the corner, it would be nice to have a walking/flight tour of the old Loreville for us to look back on. I can't think of a better content creator to do it than an actual architect in real life.
Great video. One thing you missed was the non-functional slots/dispensers that are directly under the medical station screen. Interacting with it will open them, but that's about it at the moment. I'm hoping these will dispense medical cartridges for the Med-gun, or something along those lines.
For me the big thing that makes this ship so special is its size. Its so tiny it can land in a lot of locations that bigger ships like the cutty red cant. Great example was the siege of orison where lots of people would no doubt have loved to get a quick pick up or medical help without having to walk long distances to a location better suited for a ship the size of the cutty red. great videos as always. I didn't even think about having the medical gun slots but now you mention it I hope they add these :D
As someone who works on Ambulance, I hate the fact that they put the medical bed in the corner. 90% of the time we need to get to both sides of the patient.
i have a C8R and i love it. all my rescues have been successful. the snack cabinet saved my life when i had literally 0 credits. It also works as a 3 man dropship in a pinch.
The other advantage is the fact that it’s an XS ship so it can be spawned at vehicle terminals at outposts. It is also the smallest utility ship that will fit in other ships. It is a super versatile addition to any fleet.
Now that they have leaned towards some medical gameplay using the carrack and C8R, i would love to see a medical Rover. it is sometimes hard to get a downed player from a hostile bunker since the turrets will shoot at flying vehicles. hence the use of the rover would be critical. with the new sized medbed, and after looking at the interior size of the URSA, i don't see why there couldn't be a bed placed into the back of the rover.... would love to see this happen!
That would be awesome. Coupled with the Carrack’s intended modularity it would be awesome to see a proper hospital module for the Carrack, that way you could have it, the medical Ursa and the C8R for a full, long distance hospital ship.
I got two by accident. I intended for it to be a lti token but if it isn't the most useful little ship. The day after it came out I was doing bunker missions with some friends and a buddy got a crime stat as we were clearing it he got downed and we spent the next 20 minutes slowly dragging him and reviving him out to get him to the c8r
The is a fantastic choice for a medical refit. The Tier 3 bed makes perfect sense as well. Complications in Pre-Hospital emergency care occur on egress of the patients location. Star citizen has the handy med gun sure but when it comes to serious and/or life threatening conditions, Mobile ALS is paramount and in the Verse we'd more likely see patient conditions deteriorate between the AO and the ALS. In-game these will be coming out of bunkers, coming out of caves and city transport. If CIG was to flesh out medical gameplay to its full potential, A module akin to the mining module that fits on larger rocks would be a welcome feature. Something like a chest mounted Lifepak 15 or a Zoll Propaq that would keep the patient alive outside of the Medbed.
You forgot to mention the shared storage space above the Pisces counter. You can store stuff there that any one in your party can access. Store the medical guns in there.
As a medic, I will say. In fact, the ambulance (which in fact is this ship) was created in order to show just superficial medical care, i.e. to make a dressing, stop superficial bleeding, apply an immobilizing splint, etc. If the patient is in critical condition, the ambulance should stabilize the condition and urgently deliver the patient to intensive care or surgery, depending on the required medical interventions. But since the game is the 30th century and even the couch in the ambulance is equipped with an MRI / CT scanner, thanks to it it is already clear what is wrong with the patient and what kind of medical help he needs. Therefore, the patient only needs to be delivered to the Carrack or mobile medical hospital. In this case, I have only one question. The airlock for disinfection works on the principle of an airlock and if you enter this airlock in a standing position, the airlock will work, but if the patient is carried on a stretcher, then they simply will not enter the airlock spaces in length, i.e. there will be no disinfection effect because the rear folding aparelle will not close with a stretcher and you will either have to not close it or open the glass gates that will unsterilize the interior of the Pisces.
Flight nurse here, I agree. And while some of the ergonomics don't make much sense with the layout overall, I will say though I was really impressed with the presences of a sharps container and other small touches like that.

You forgot to mention that there is also patient storage in the ship which is different from the other storage cabinet above the cooler/fridge
Technical Debt doesn't mean 'incomplete.' It means you bought yourself future problems by not following best practices. By the way I love your videos. It's so nice to have a real professional talk about design.
Got an upgrade for my C8X to the C8R, I love flying the Pisces, but safe for Joyriding it didn't really have much to do recently, as the Avenger does most of it just as well or better. The C8R upgrade gives it a new lease of life with it's own missions to do and things that only it can do. And on top of that it is still the lovely old Pisces with which you can do all that crazy low level stuff and "If I fits, I sits!" landings! ;) Or going below an 890 Jump....^^
Love this little craft. Perfect parasite craft for my Carrack. While I loved the original Pisces, the addition benefit of the medical bed, while still having room to carry a crate onboard like the Pisces makes swapping the original out for this one is pretty much a no brainier.
The "base Pisces" would be the C8 and does not have "additional hard points". You are thinking of the C8X, the "expedition" variant that has had an upgrade to 4 hard points instead of the C8's 2. The C8R, in turn, shares the exact same hard point setup of the base C8. Hence the C8R is just a C8 with a medical interior and not a C8X having lost hard points..
I could imagine larger scale corp land battles. A neutral third party hospital endeavour shows up in orbit and sends out teams on multiple C8Rs for rescue planet side.
the screen in the seating area could easily be replaced with a little armory for medical equiptment. there is a screen over the bed already that can serve the same purpos as the one thats taking up valubale space.
I suspect the later gold standard will empty those supply cupboards, and require us to stock them. Slots for the medical gun would be a great addition. The utilisation of space in this little ship, really shows up the inefficiency of the Cutlass Red layout.
This series of shuttles is one of the most useful in the 'verse. It does everything you need it to do if you keep it in a narrow mission profile. It is also fantastically economical to operate within that range of use cases. Generally, I buy one of these just after a ROC and before a Prospector.
Honestly I think people would be less hot for the carrack if there were other ships that came with viable and flyable support craft. The 890 coming with a single seat speed machine included doesn’t actually address the practical question of how you get people aboard without docking somewhere, and certainly many warships want more deployable fighter space. I’d love to see a deluxe passenger transport as part of a 600i gold standard pass.
Totally agree, atm I don’t think there is any ship currently available that’s actually truly suited to being placed in the 890J hangar, it need a luxury shuttle of some description but one capable of carrying at least half a dozen VIPs
@@ConradLarsonGaming personally I’d run a 315p but there’s nothing appropriate for the purpose of the ship, if they re designed a 300i into a mini Phoenix they would probably be about right for what the 890J needs
I mean if I were running the project I would develop a 300 variant with a wider profile, an expanded rear cabin lounge, and capacity for about 6 passengers. I’d replace the ladder with docking collar so it could mate with the 890. I worked in luxury automotive for years and this kind of client wants to enjoy a vip lounge experience. The idea that you have to wait through the security point at Riker and go on the same smelly elevator that Drake pilots use is just not the look. So what you need is a flying lounge that can land on top of a skyscraper yeah? 300wideboi with a sunken coffee table kind of situation between the kitchenette and bed space is the way to go, slightly pared down experience to what you find in the 400 diner kind of thing.
Such a great video man - so clean, professional, pretty, really well made. Reminds me of the rocket league sideswipe youtuber Mogz - you guys are both total quality. Keep it up.
upgraded my stalker (pledged in 2014) to c8r . Perfect to do cave diving and bunkers and help people on the side. For me much more useful as a daily driver to just go around doing small missions
The Pisces is great, we all know it. This makes it better, but the best part is that they just turned several large ships into ambulances. The corsair and the Herc line can fit a Pisces inside, making those ships able to participate in medical gameplay. This is a huge win.
From design standpoint, I would want two medical beds per ship of such size. Even the small helicopters from MASH had capacity to take two wounded each so I would remove the huge medicine cabinet and instead add second bed with smaller cabinets above. One bead would make sense if you had enough equipment there to completely heal people so you do not need one ship for each.
5:20 Medical equipment racks? You've already got the cabinet and medical bed. Everything else is superfluous when you can just shove what medical equipment you need in the cabinet that is _dedicated_ to medical equipment.
Just finding this video. Great job. Update - The C8R medical bed will now allow for regeneration or spawn point. This makes it amazing for FPS support and bunker missions.
In terms of tech debt, the C8R's component access is the same as the C8 and C8X. There's no new tech debt there, and they did take time to do the door panel. On that level, it's a modest win.
i love this little ship. i took it into a cave that had mercs and never felt so cool lowering down into the pit and lighting up dudes for a mission. only downside to this ship is i cant steal as many dead bodies like the other variant can. who woulda thought you can get hours of fun and cool loot out of being the weirdo of the verse
Something everybody seems to miss, there are two little slots below the medical terminal which you can open and close, yet I haven't found out what they're for. I tried placing the Medigun, it's "ammo" and MedPens inside but to no avail. Maybe somebody actually figured out what their purpose is?
The main missed opportunity is to be able to use the med bed to log out and into the game IMO, since it is the lowest tier med bed. It would have expanded the use of the ship exponentially.
I'm not fan of the previous pisces model, as I dislike the shoebox-like interior, but I jumped at this immediately just after seeing the screenshots, not even waiting to get home to check it in game :D It was probably in part due to the fact that I work at surgery irl. Would love to get the Apollo one day, but thanks to my workload and being a father of two I don't have time for multiplayer so that's putting a hamper on running a medical crew 😅
I've got my C8R, Apollo Medivac, and Endeavor Master Set for all my medical wants. For the C8R and Apollo Medivac I see myself more as the ambulance driver instead of the one giving the medical attention but if needed I'm still able to assist
I got it with store credit, but it was a no-brainer, since I first heard leaks about it. I use the pisces any time I don't need something else specifically. The C8R still fits a 2 SCU box, and is just stupidly useful. The only down side is the smaller quantum tanks, but you just get a smaller margin for error vs a reduced capability from that, at least in the Stanton system for now.
They might have created a more unique career/gameplay option if they had given the C8R zero guns but a much beefier shield... or does the Hippocratic oath not exist in 2952?
I was wondering If you made a video on the C8X Pisces. I cant seam to find a video that outlines ships as well as you do and I was considering getting it before I saw your other video about the Cutter.
I guess the C8R is more like an ambulance, but is much more capable than a normal ambulance. Sure, it doesn't have the bells and whistles of its larger sister, the Carrack, it's still a useful medevac ship, allowing for rapid transport of casualties from the field to the backlines, or a more capable ship like the Carrack or 890i Jump.
dang now i want to get some buddies and start a Star Citizen version of cyber punk trauma team, on demand rescue team that uses watever means necessary to save the client
06:52 No it doesn't. That second monitor only allows the pilot to see the severity of the injury. If you want to be the one to heal the patient you much crouch down next to the bed and use the patient's screen, and shout out from Yilan
picked one up day one... was slightly disappointed it was held back on getting the BiS paint (really liked this years scheme), but all in all its a handy ship and goes great with my loaner carrack.
I think they should add an Avenger Titan cargo bay mod that ambulizes it. Then you could have a ship that can do combat evacs from hot zones, and maybe has 4 stretchers that just do minimal stabilizing till you can get to the nearest better medical facility (maybe renezvous with one of these, and do field triage to determine who should go in the better medical ship first).
Seems we are not able to place unconscious players on the bed. There is an option but does not seem to do anything nor does using the the Pyro tractor tool. Bit of a let down. Hopefully it will be working after the new patch?
I debated for a while but eventually pulled the trigger and upgraded my C8X to the C8R. Reason was simple, the C8X isn't much better in a fight to defend itself and the cargo isn't large enough to justify its value. Having the C8R still has a seat for a passenger plus the bed for healing which can double as a make shift seat made it worth the investment.
Only thing I dislike about it is that it doesn't have a bed you can log out on. So if you want to mainly use this ship, you're gonna have to walk all the way to the spaceport every single time you log on. Other than that it's a great ship. I bought and it's very nice.
watching this video, and one about Medrunning, is what made me get the game, and I am not disappointed at all, love the game, love the gameplay loops and the upcoming ones, the game is shaping to be the game I dreamt of playing as a kid 20 years ago, and I'm so looking forwards to future patches.

This is what I needed after Brazil's loss today, thank you Morph and GG to any Croatians that see this comment.
Technical Debt doesn't mean 'incomplete.' It means you bought yourself future problems by not following best practices. By the way I love your videos. It's so nice to have a real professional talk about design.
Pisces is the best ship in game and this one enhances it even more.
Got an upgrade for my C8X to the C8R, I love flying the Pisces, but safe for Joyriding it didn't really have much to do recently, as the Avenger does most of it just as well or better.
The C8R upgrade gives it a new lease of life with it's own missions to do and things that only it can do.
And on top of that it is still the lovely old Pisces with which you can do all that crazy low level stuff and "If I fits, I sits!" landings! ;)
Or going below an 890 Jump....^^
Love it, best thing to bring out for medical gameplay and what a great started for new players
Love this little craft. Perfect parasite craft for my Carrack.
While I loved the original Pisces, the addition benefit of the medical bed, while still having room to carry a crate onboard like the Pisces makes swapping the original out for this one is pretty much a no brainier.
"A trauma team has been dispatched to your location, and will arrive in 180 seconds"
A neutral third party hospital endeavour shows up in orbit and sends out teams on multiple C8Rs for rescue planet side.
damnit this is such a good use of this tiny ship. I love the efficiency of this ship and this simply exacerbates its design.
the screen in the seating area could easily be replaced with a little armory for medical equiptment. there is a screen over the bed already that can serve the same purpos as the one thats taking up valubale space.
I see this as an ambulance and they missed a gurney
I suspect the later gold standard will empty those supply cupboards, and require us to stock them. Slots for the medical gun would be a great addition. The utilisation of space in this little ship, really shows up the inefficiency of the Cutlass Red layout.
This series of shuttles is one of the most useful in the 'verse. It does everything you need it to do if you keep it in a narrow mission profile. It is also fantastically economical to operate within that range of use cases. Generally, I buy one of these just after a ROC and before a Prospector.
Yep, picked one up for my little fleet and loved the design of it.
The 890j would certainly benefit from a passenger specific ship like the E1 Spirit though I'm not sure she'll fit.
Totally agree, atm I don’t think there is any ship currently available that’s actually truly suited to being placed in the 890J hangar, it need a luxury shuttle of some description but one capable of carrying at least half a dozen VIPs
@@chalky042 the 300i and the 85x are both good choices but for the owner not for the passengers
Sounds like you're been watching Doug DeMuro. "This is not a base pisces!"
The Pisces is great, we all know it. This makes it better, but the best part is that they just turned several large ships into ambulances. The corsair and the Herc line can fit a Pisces inside, making those ships able to participate in medical gameplay. This is a huge win.
I can absolutely imagine a Herc with a couple of Med Pisces in it
i bought it for a moment.its a very good "medical module"and little shuttle for my corsair when im one day out, doin exploration...
From design standpoint, I would want two medical beds per ship of such size. Even the small helicopters from MASH had capacity to take two wounded each so I would remove the huge medicine cabinet and instead add second bed with smaller cabinets above. One bead would make sense if you had enough equipment there to completely heal people so you do not need one ship for each.
alright not gonna lie that ad transition was pretty smooth
5:20 Medical equipment racks? You've already got the cabinet and medical bed. Everything else is superfluous when you can just shove what medical equipment you need in the cabinet that is _dedicated_ to medical equipment.
2:50 in and you're really mixing up the C8 with the C8X, which is a distinct variant.
upgraded the cutter starter to this since i already have a cutty black and bought a corsair. its fast and fun.
upgraded my starter ship to this bad boy, perfect for merc gameplay
As a DayZ Reddit Rescue Force veteran (discontinued) playing space ambulance would be cool.. Very cool little bird
Just finding this video. Great job. Update - The C8R medical bed will now allow for regeneration or spawn point. This makes it amazing for FPS support and bunker missions.
That thing has turned into my default runabout when I don't need a larger ship like the Carrack or MSR.
i have zero regrets buying this craft!
It looks like a neat little ship. I think I would like to add one to my collection someday.
I'm not fan of the previous pisces model, as I dislike the shoebox-like interior, but I jumped at this immediately just after seeing the screenshots, not even waiting to get home to check it in game :D
It was probably in part due to the fact that I work at surgery irl. Would love to get the Apollo one day, but thanks to my workload and being a father of two I don't have time for multiplayer so that's putting a hamper on running a medical crew 😅
As of 3.23.1 this ship works as respawn point too from the medical bed.
I like the C8, have had one for some time, and snatched the R variant up when it was available, love these little vessels
I've got my C8R, Apollo Medivac, and Endeavor Master Set for all my medical wants. For the C8R and Apollo Medivac I see myself more as the ambulance driver instead of the one giving the medical attention but if needed I'm still able to assist
Tbf, I am pretty much the same, although am the medic, with a small crew for science and engineering on my cutty red haha
Hopefully we can get more variants. Would be cool to see a medical variant of the Valkyrie.
"We the Medrunners SC will be there for you giving you Care and security until your recovery"
dang now i want to get some buddies and start a Star Citizen version of cyber punk trauma team, on demand rescue team that uses watever means necessary to save the client
They have said that in future patches you will be able to use the BiS paint on it.
Also notable - it still has guns and missiles... on an ambulance...
Now THAT'S what I call a war crime! 😂
I got two, but will likely upgrade one as it's pretty much bring used for the LTI token.
Seems we are not able to place unconscious players on the bed. There is an option but does not seem to do anything nor does using the the Pyro tractor tool. Bit of a let down. Hopefully it will be working after the new patch?
Doug Demuro at 2:00 lol
I debated for a while but eventually pulled the trigger and upgraded my C8X to the C8R. Reason was simple, the C8X isn't much better in a fight to defend itself and the cargo isn't large enough to justify its value. Having the C8R still has a seat for a passenger plus the bed for healing which can double as a make shift seat made it worth the investment.
This is going to be a great little Ambulance for those people who plan to take part in that type of gameplay.
Only thing I dislike about it is that it doesn't have a bed you can log out on. So if you want to mainly use this ship, you're gonna have to walk all the way to the spaceport every single time you log on. Other than that it's a great ship. I bought and it's very nice.
I love this little ship, I think it could make a amazing supplement to org fleets! Great video considering it’s such a tiny ship😂
6:58 Does anybody know what those two slots are below the DMA console?
watching this video, and one about Medrunning, is what made me get the game, and I am not disappointed at all, love the game, love the gameplay loops and the upcoming ones, the game is shaping to be the game I dreamt of playing as a kid 20 years ago, and I'm so looking forwards to future patches.
Got a quick question, what's the difference between the T1, 2 and 3 Medical beds?
So we aren’t gonna talk about the fact that the medical guy was about to just cap the patient at 0:51 👀
I just watch morph for the visuals and the soothing voice.
I can see this being used as an ambulance for a Galaxy.
Got the C8R at IAE discount [thru C8X sale link] as the base for my Apollo CCU chain. Until that long awaited ship releases I enjoy this daily driver and Carrack shuttle all around the verse. Agree I wondered why no med gun slots like the weapon slots we see in most ships. I BIG deal that many have overlooked feature of C8R is Shared Inventory space! We finally have a solution to the DIY explode your ship to make a loot share box. Sell trade swap gear from your space ambulance JOY ;-D
A pretty little ship. Looks like a nice starter!
it is great with claim time/cost for when you just need to get from a to b.
