Classic overreach. Happens to everyone. Napolean for French was too big, too fast, too dominant. When a country overreached they put themselves on everybody’s radar and over time all their rivals and subjects evolve strategies to combat them specifically. You don’t feel the effects right away, but the pendulum swings both ways. On top of that the French LOST the Napoleonic Wars so they didn’t even get to establish an empire to prolong their dominance.
They went from being undisputedly the greatest military power in the world under Napoleon, to remaining formidable amongst its peers during the first half of the Concert of Europe but stagnating throughout the second half. WW1 showed that a supported France could still hold against Germany, but it had been decisively surpassed as the strongest power in continental Europe. And after further stagnation WW2 France tried to do the same as it did in WW1 but the gap between itself and Germany had grown too great

And then we read some primary source documents (I believe it was VA’s secession from the union?) in which the confederates state that chief amongst these “states rights” is the right to continue chattel slavery and slave labor lmao.

12:49 funny thing is soon after burning the Whitehouse a tornado came in and wiped out all the British forces soon after and even extinguished the fires as well
One major reason why the brits lost to those hillbillies in the revolutionary war is because the french decided to help them (and also the spanish and a few others), which later contributed for them to have their own revolution and ditch their monarchy
Wish you would rank other wars that included different continents as well. Obviously the world wars, stuff like the 7, 30 and 100 years war, boxer rebellion, napoleon wars, war of the triple alliance for south america, etc etc Could also lead you to learn more about these wars as you said at the beginning that you dont know a lot about them. Natives are so metal their last names are the literal names of familial ancestors which bluntly describe who they were and if they were men how they fought. That's why their first names are something nerdy like "jeremy" and then the last name is something metal as hell like "cut knife" "bear fighter" or "shot in the head" of course the names would sound different in the native languages but they end up coming out absolutely badass when translated. Of course there was some names made to make fun of the person or more accurately describe them. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some native dude named "ass eater" at one point.
The USA lost the war of 1812. It failed to invade Canada, lost most of its navy and the Whitehouse was burned down, the only major victory the USA won in the war was after peace had already been signed, not to mention Britain was fighting and beating napoleon at the same time
