I think this is one of, if not the best version of Layla ever performed live. Everything from the vocals to the legendary guitar playing, I think this version perfectly captures the emotion Layla should be played with.
7:11 Oh dear god.... isn't it adorable to realize that Clapton and Nathan East have been having so much fun together, just enjoying their sensational gigs on stage for decades now? I love these guys so damn much!
This is the most facially expressive Clapton on stage that I've ever seen. I mean, making all these funny faces while playing.... we don't get to see him do that, do we? *_Clapton is LOVE_*
Eric Clapton Mark Knopfler AND Elton John? Wow.. that's pretty amazing. I like the bassplayer too though I haven't heard of him. I just love how the song changes at 06:17
This is the best. Every player is having a Great time. I don't know how you do it Eric. From what I understand this is a tribute to your true love. That's got to be hard on you. But in a sense, you seem to be laying your acceptance of it in the ending instumental. Love it! Hope you are at peace with your ex. I feel sorry for her. But then I don't know the whole story.
7:15 I assure you with 999% of sure, that this feeling that clapton is enjoying will never be the same again, this are top points in our lifes, looks crazy but makes sense, I'm not sure you all can understand..
Elton John is a genius! What a combo with Mark Knopfler and Elton John but Elton is jamming in the background like I've never heard with Layla. What a genius! Sounds sweet man! Right on Elton John!
Much better than the other posting of this video that I saw. Clapton and Knopfler are two of the best guitarists I've ever seen. Very few live up to them.
es el mejor guitarrista de los tiempos modernos, lindas interpretaciones y sus acompañantes brillantes, sólo un ídolo de todos los tiempos los podría tener. gracias eric
About 20 years ago, I was in this live in BUDOKAN tokyo japan. Then Sting(Police) sung a few songs. He was in Japan for his solo live. So wonderful night .
The tambourine player/percussionist is Ray Cooper. He played on most of Elton John's albums, played on a couple of George Harrison albums, and has played with dozens of artists live.
Top 5 Classic rock songs of all time....5-Stones/Satisfaction 4-The Who/ Baba O'Reiley 3-Zeppelin/Dazed and Confused 2-Queen/Bohemian Rhapsody 1-Your listening to it.
You can be cool but you will never be as cool as Eric Clapton playing on smoking guitar with Mark Knopfler and Elton John
DECENT SUPPORT PLAYERS, DONT YA THINK?
Absolute truth.
He is cool so cool the coolest, i will always remember them forever❤️❤️❤️
True
I think this is one of, if not the best version of Layla ever performed live. Everything from the vocals to the legendary guitar playing, I think this version perfectly captures the emotion Layla should be played with.
Agreeed...the sound is pure and even Elton John adds dynamic....awesome improvised Clapton brilliance on solo and voice is vintage.
Agreed. I believe it’s the best version too.
I love how you can see that he's improvising that solo and then at about 5:21 he's like "man that sounds pretty cool I might stay here a while."
Haha, true!
Best solo in any Layla performance so far, imho.
I really like the beginning after the basss solo/intro when the song starts by surprise
This may be one claptons best live solos
7:11 Oh dear god.... isn't it adorable to realize that Clapton and Nathan East have been having so much fun together, just enjoying their sensational gigs on stage for decades now? I love these guys so damn much!

My favourite Clapton song and one of its best performances ever, from two Kings of the Guitar ❤🎸🎸❤ This Is Fire 🔥
This is the most facially expressive Clapton on stage that I've ever seen. I mean, making all these funny faces while playing.... we don't get to see him do that, do we?
*_Clapton is LOVE_*
That keyboard intro was just the same Knopfler used to play during those years in Romeo and Juliet. Love it !!!

Is funny and good to know that even Clapton (and the great Nathan East too) sing the guitar part, just like any of us, fans, do.

Za każdym razem zaskakuje, to wspaniały muzyk....👍 ❤
man the last part of layla (i mean when the piano starts to play that romantic music) is
simply genious
This is the best I ever heard him sing this song.
One of the best Layla performances ever...
Ahhhhhh! I just love how they snuck in that tribute to Weather Report and Jaco Pastorius in the intro.
I MUCH prefer this one to the later over-polished renditions of the '90's . Thanks So Much !!!
Elton John is a genius!
What a combo with Mark Knopfler and Elton John but Elton is jamming in the background like I've never heard with Layla. What a genius! Sounds sweet man! Right on Elton John!
At 5:33 Sir Elton looks so cool. Too cool for words
Insanity...I jsut can't stop listening to this song...Eric Clapton is truely amazing!!
Best intro ever! What a song..Clapton entering sharp with distorsion..unbelievable
Really great vocals, love the way sings "insane".

Thank you Eric Clapton for this great music. God protect this, you and all peoples.
7:31 Isn't that the cutest thing Clapton's ever done on stage? 🥰
Grande Eric Clapton!! Uno dei piu' grandi chitarristi viventi!!!
Great vocal. Underrated.
Most emotinal version i've ever of this song!!
Both Eric and Mark are true legends
You cant do much wrong when the GOAT is by your side doing the base!
Absolutely outstanding and great solos by Alan Clark! :-)
Much better than the other posting of this video that I saw. Clapton and Knopfler are two of the best guitarists I've ever seen. Very few live up to them.
2:09 the crowd... so cool
When EJ is your organ player you know you are good
Clapton-Knopfler...perfection.

The Piano Man aka The greatest pianist/show-stopper/ Elton John...Props to him!
Not just him but also Alan Clark, Clapton's keyboard player!

Wow love the way Eric sings this! He has so much power in his voice and guitar playing!!
So many accomplished musicians on one stage represent the rock of our age. Couldn't get much better !
Genius !
A true God of Rock....avert your eyes as he passes by mortals. Love you Eric.
The intro segment is Jaco Pastorius' bass line from "A Remark You Made", a Weather Report track.
mr nathan east!! I love you man!!!!
A valuable movie where Clapton mourned Jaco!! Just A Remark You
made!!
It is. Eric is a cool guy. Read his biography. Almost done, can't say i know him, but he seems like a great guy, with loads of life experience!

I love the Tambourin-man :D
Ray Cooper
Are you from the 19 year old army?
damn this is like an all star concert...
48 bars of GREATNESS in that solo!!
Ren smith , my favorite is Layla at Madison square garden 1999 ! Give me goosebumps!
He has/had been with Clapton for years and he swings like no other musician on the stage :O
They are JAMMING. Part of me wishes I had been old enough to see this live, or at least in existence when the song first came out!
a simple LEGENDS!! NEVER DIE ALWAYS ON OUR HEART
ЛЮБЛЮ ИХОВЫХ
Wonderful! The Layla album changed my life. Jimi and Duane must've been smiling at this anniversary show.

The tambourine player/percussionist is Ray Cooper. He played on most of Elton John's albums, played on a couple of George Harrison albums, and has played with dozens of artists live.
Great video! I'd say he's got some pretty good back up in the song too.

you have a decent taste in music my friend!
I'd do the Who won't get fooled again for 2, but that's just me. I'll give you credit for recognizing Baba O'Reiley that's a great one.
Russell Obermeyer I Love The List, But U Have To Stick A Beatles Song On There Somewhere. Great List Though!
