This is a fantastic video, Cuiv. Straightforward, actual examples, you explain all the little things you do - so many other videos just say "Create a color mask on the image? How? This is supposed to be a tutorial!". You actually _show_ a complete newbie how to do each step and, just like we do in the classroom, you gradually take away the scaffolding so that we're doing it more and more on our own. Hi from cloudy Scotland Cuiv, awesome tutorial. I've been doing Astrophotography for just over 1 years and using Pixinsight for a few months now. What an incredible video! Probably the best explanation of the PixInsight workflow available! I wish I had this a year ago when it took me weeks of research just to figure out a sensible process to use this crazy tool (incidentally, your workflow is nearly identical to the one I arrived at). PixInsight really isn't that difficult, it's just unintuitive and poorly documented. Many thanks to you and all of the excellent script writers for helping us unravel its mysteries.
Absolutely the best video on Pixinsight I’ve seen so far. It really helps seeing the common and uncommon processes between the various types of Lights. Thank you so much young man.
I watched along, pausing here and there to keep up and came out with great results. I am watching a second time while writing up an easy step by step WF process that I will and can easily follow. Great work! Cheers!!!
Thanks Cuiv, I have followed the 3 hours on different days, and they have allowed me to improve the automation of my processes in PI. This video is worth a lot.
I love the data gathering process of astrophotography but absolutely dreaded the processing and edit. Thank you very much for the detailed tutorial. I just started EAA and a little bit of imaging a few months ago, so I’m early in the learning curve. I’ll be rewatching this video a few more times before I decide if I’m going to jump into the PI pool right now or wait a bit. But regardless, I’ve learned a lot from this and you’ve given me some really valuable insight into how powerful this tool can be.
I decided to install the PixInsight trial version after all, in part because of how great this tut was. Everything went astonishingly smooth because of your great presentation skills. Not one blind alley nor unanswered question. Well done!
I do love your videos. I agree that Pixinsight is 1). worth the money and 2). overall is cheap compared to other things you end up buying in the hobby.
Well done Cuiv! You really are a very good communicator. Can I add a suggestion? Do you see the yellow line on the right side of the screen? I put all my processing steps in minimized form in order of operations, on the right side of it. (You can move it wherever you like). They will then "Dock" to it. I then save it as a project called "Load up". This is what I load every time I start PI. It saves a ton of time in streamlining as well as standardizing your workflow. Again, great job!!!
Thank you so much. This has been the best and most useful tutorial (written or video) about using PI for me. You seem to have taken such a sensible, logical and not overly complicated approach. I went through a target of mine using your (monochrome) workflow and it's the most pleasing outcome I've had.
This is great. I've been using pixinsight for a month now. Statistical Stretch and creating a luminesce layer to use as a mask were new super helpful for me. Thank you, Cuiv... an EXCELLENT Tutorial - best I've watched. I really appreciate your approach to make PI newbies and even those with some experience much more comfortable with the tool(s) which allow us to, among other things, make "pretty pictures" - consistently. Like many others, I've been on the PI steep learning curve for about a year now; watched untold TH-cam 'how to" videos (thank you to all who spent time making them) and spent time conversing with others who are certainly better PI users that me... but your empathy for we imagers often lost in the weeds is genuine and appreciated - you focused on the point of getting from data collection to well-processed-in-PI images and it works. I am about to embark on my first attempt to follow your lead and see if I can end up with an image I like and that I can share... Please keep up the great tutorials and imaging tools reviews - I've watched most and always come away from them with more good information (internalized) than when I started. Incredible work. Thanks as always. Pixinsight has almost revolutionised my astro-processing (post-siril). Yes, it is a challenging learning curve, but follow these steps and it will all make sense. Thanks to you (and also to Luke @Lukomatico) for making this information available in such a well presented format in such a helpful and skillful way and learning Pix becomes almost(!) bearable and enjoyable.
Great Cuiv, Ive been using pix for some time now but still picked out a lot from this. Thanks for you're efforts!. And btw, you are 1 of the only guys on here I could watch for 3+ hours straight with no effort at all !
Such a great tutorial, thank you very much. I've gone through lots of various videos on youtube that go through one thing or another, but nothing as easy and comprehensive as this one. I think I've leveled up my pixinsights skills now, though my SHO pictures still look a bit funny (have to work on that). Great timing for me too since I just got back with data from a star party. Keep up the great videos!
Ive only used Pixinsight and have the Adam Block subscription. Always ready for another 3 hour tutorial! Thanks Cuiv! Also I downloaded all the Gaias but put them on a USB stick to have them all but not use a bunch of hard drive space
What a great video. I agree that PI needs to be looked at as just another piece of equipment that is much needed instead of looking at it as expensive software. If you think about how many times and years it will get used, it's a bargain. With all the scripts out and new ones being released from the likes of Sedi Astro and others, it makes PI even easier to use.
Thank you so much for this incredible tutorial! Been using Pix for a few years now and there's still so much to learn. It's just too bad that with your tutorials I'm tempted to dabble in the mono game... Not sure my salary will be happy about it!
Ok, 366 euro for Pixinsight and 94 euro for BlurXTerminator, Thank you Cuiv for making sense of the phrase “you don't take the money to your grave anyway.” :)))))))))))))))
Love love love this! Thank you so much! I've definitely got my imaging and PI mojo back thanks to you. Such an awesome tool set. I wasn't even aware of a lot of these scripts. Liked and subscribed 😊
i have just bought pixinsight because of this video and i dont get my camera until xmas hahaha, will keep following and hopefully be able to process a picture properly-ish by time i get my camera :)
Great tutorial, Cuiv... lots of stuff to get sorted out up front. I currently have the trial version on my desktop PC, but I can't seem to add it to my laptop for working in the field. Off-topic question, please: Will you be reviewing Svbony's new SV240 light pollution filter? I bought their SV220 filter earlier this year, and now here comes the SV240! I understand the new one works for galaxies as well as nebulae. Thanks, Michael

Wow congratulations, this tutorial is the best I have seen to date regarding the use of PixInsight. It has changed my view on this application. Now I understand much better the scripts, plugins, and processes and their use. 5 stars + Thank you so much !
Awesome, thank you for the feedback!!
Brilliant tutorial, brilliant! Thanks, Cuiv, for sharing your knowledge with us. Clear skies!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@CuivTheLazyGeek absorbing its content, as i am going along with it!
Actually, I have found PixInsight easier to use than Adobe Photoshop. I would normally get lost in PS's GUI - which is designed like a maze!
I have never seen such a detailed tutorial before, it's incredible😄
Thank you so much Cuiv for all your videos. I am very new to the hobby and your videos are a fantastic resource. Many thanks for the effort you put in to share your knowledge. I can see I am joining an amazing and friendly community. Clear skies!
Good timing on this video as I was considering switching from PS. Guess it’s time for me to take the leap. Thank you for all your great content.
Yesss, take the leap!!
Cuiv! This is awesome; you've inspired me to join the Patreon channel.
Thank you for your support!!
Excellent! I just did my first dual narrowband image which just happened to be the Eagle Nebula. Following your workflow for OSC was so helpful. It certainly changes and improves the way I process. Clear explanations made it so easy to follow. Thanks!
Great contribution to the astro community as always !!! Thank you!
Love this! I may have to watch several times, lots of good tips.
Glad it was helpful! Enjoy applying it to your flow!
Just in time.... Picked up the hobby again and was doubting if pixinsight would be the next step.
This guide will probably make the decision for me, if it is at the level of your other guides (which I don't doubt)...
Thanks.
It's late at night but I can't stop to watch it... thank you Cuiv
Enjoy and don't forget to sleep!
Thank you much for this great tutorial! Very good explained, step by step. You can see how much work and experience has gone into this video!
We've all put so much work into making PI available to the masses :) Siril is great (and free!) but PI is on another level...!
Great Cuiv, Ive been using pix for some time now but still picked out a lot from this. Thanks for you're efforts!. And btw, you are 1 of the only guys on here I could watch for 3+ hours straight with no effort at all !
Hahaha thank you so much!
This turorial is amazing, made learning PixInsight a breeze! Thank you so much!
Bought PI a few years ago. But didn’t take images so got a little rusty on the workflow. Thank you very much for your incredible work!
My pleasure, glad this can help!
Thank you so much Cuiv for you work here
Such a great tutorial, thank you very much.
Just getting started with this but looks very well done like all your videos. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
Glad it's being helpful!
Very nice tutorial(s), Cuiv. Really well done!
Thanks a lot!
Ive only used Pixinsight and have the Adam Block subscription. Always ready for another 3 hour tutorial! Thanks Cuiv!
Also I downloaded all the Gaias but put them on a USB stick to have them all but not use a bunch of hard drive space
Enjoy! Adam's guides are amazing, this is the "half-baked" lazy but effective approach :)
I've been looking forward to this, I hope I get to see what makes pixinsight so much more powerful than other options
Hope you can have fun with this tutorial, and PixInsight (trial version at first ;))
Yet another great video from Cuiv. Thanks for all of the hard work in making this tutorial.
My pleasure! Enjoy!
Thank you Cuiv, I've been using PixInsight for a while but I still picked up some good tips for my workflow.
Fantastic video, I have jusr started with Pixinsight and this video is so helpfull.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Cuiv! Very timely.
My pleasure!!
Thank you very much for this. I am working my way through it- very useful help!
Thank You for the amazing tutorial Cuiv!
Thank you so much for your support!
Excellent, this has made my NB a lot easier!
Exactly! It boggles my mind how cheap PixInsight is when you look at it as a piece of equipment!
thanks you, very comprehensive for a beginner like me
So glad this was helpful!
I had to clear my schedule so I could take my time and watch this 🙂 Very well done Cuiv! 👏👏👏
Awesome Dave, thanks for watching!!
Just in time to pass time productively in a stretch of cloudy weather!
Enjoy, hope you have some fun with this!
I def want to watch this entire vid. I’m sure I’ll pick up some tips. Thanks!
Enjoy!
From my rooftop near Chicago, Thanks Cuiv!
Cheers & clear skies, Bortle 8-9 Rooftop Brother!
Fantastic howto @Cuiv! Thank you 🙏
Glad you liked it!
Superbe vidéo, merci beaucoup!
You are Awesome! Thanks!
Thank you!!
Thank you so much for this incredible tutorial! Been using Pix for a few years now and there's still so much to learn.
It's just too bad that with your tutorials I'm tempted to dabble in the mono game... Not sure my salary will be happy about it!
Stay with OSC for now lol 😂 Easier!
Thank you for this video. It helped me a lot.
My pleasure, and thanks for your support!!

Great video thanks! Took adam blocks fast track NB Course and got lost. This is simple and works. 👋👋👍👍
This was excellent! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely brilliant.
Thank you!
