Before this race I used to think myself 'Yeah Piastri is pretty good' but this race made me go 'Oh... I GET it now. Oscar Piastri is legit!'. That overtake and him holding off Leclerc for 30 odd laps was fantastic! I've also decided that Oscar Piastri is basically the Orange Cassidy of F1. I do feel bad for Checo though. The one weekend where he finally turns up and he gets murdered by Sainz! Poor lad! (edit: I've just realised too, it took two races for Franco Colapinto to score more points in his F1 career than Logan Sargeant scored in one and a half years. Ouch.)
Taking the fight to Lando and Charles in only his second year is huge, and I'm sooo happy he finally got a W without McLaren screwing both drivers like they did in Hungary. Judging by his radio "celebration", Oscar's cool might equal that of the Iceman. I have high hopes for the boy, he's just so likeable!
Anyone who wins an F2 title in their rookie year is a big deal. I never had a doubt. But a lot of this gassing up of Piastri is just LH and MV fans who hate Lando. Lando was epic this race too

Landos race was as equally impressive as Piatstri's - and perhaps a little more when you consider he enabled Oscar to stay ahead of Perez during McLaren's blunder pitting Oscar a little too late... However I'm way more of Oscar fan - Lando complains, beats himself up and is just a derisory dick towards Lewis quite a lot, so yeah there is good reason to prefer Piastri ;-)

@@blackming3420 Looking at the top-down view Pérez was going pretty much parallel to the dotted lines in the middle of the track, leaning slightly to the left in fact, whereas Sainz clearly leaned more left compared to the white line to the right side. Racing incident in my opinion as Pérez did leave a car's width and then some.

Nah Charles by his own volition said in his podium interview that his tyres were gone - his defence against Perez was truly admirable but both Checko / Sainz too were likely to pass Charles on the next grid straight, but they crashed when Perez decides not to use half a roads width to make his attempted pass on Sainz

I still very strongly feel Perez is to blame for the crash. Very avoidable. He had a lot of room on the left, had a very good view. He was close to Carlos 's blind spot... I mean having driven 200+ races, you expect someone with that much experience to show a bit more maturity. It's the same as K-Mag in Monaco. Not necessary.
Piastri, Leclerc, Sainz, Perez, Lando, Alonso, Albon, Colapinto and Bearman did especially well this race IMO. It was a joy to watch. *This race was probably the best race of the season so far!* Also, I'm excited to see how Colapinto will fare for the rest of the season, as he's really putting the nails in Sargeant's coffin 💀 James did a crazy gamble, but considering they passes Alpine after Franco's second race, it obviously payed off!
All I can say is I'm pissed I that set 5 alarms for this race but it seems if someone isn't raising hell in my room or physically ripping me out of bed I can't be fucked to wake up at 7AM on a Sunday.

So FP2 just finished for Singapore and it's neat how high Yuki scored, but I know that in the race he'll either have his car shredded by something out of his grasp or the strategy ruining his life somehow. God forbid, he does actually well and RB "upgrades" his car again and we're back to P18 because of those "up"grades.

You know, that might be the worst race I've ever seen from Verstappen, I can't think of another time he's been a full pitstop behind his team mate for no reason other than he was just slower.
