@@LunnarisLP Unironically, yes. Many of his radio comments have made very clear that he simply doesn't have the headspace of real F1 drivers. It's why he has stupid crashes so often. He just turns into the apex without checking his mirrors because he's literally incapable of doing that while braking for the corner at the same time.

It’s not how he got his seat, it’s that he can’t lose it. Many drivers get a seat through wealth, but if they perform like shit they still usually get dropped. Stroll’s teammates will always lose their contracts, no matter how well they perform, so long as stroll is on the team

The point of F1 is the best drivers duking it out, some with better machinery of course, but skill is paramount to move to better machinery. He needs to retire and take up the tennis dream of his, where he will likely be just as talentless but that's the problem of Wimbledon etc. Let someone with a future take the seat.

Except Lance dominated other top drivers in the same cars. In F3 he won the title beating 2nd place by 180 points with 14 wins absolutely dominated Lando Norris, Russel, Zhou and Mazapin who've all been F1 drivers. Saying he didn't earn a shot when he absolutely ran through the competition just shows a complete lack of understanding.

That's why in my opinion F1 is not the place for him: we know too well now what he could accomplish sometimes but even more what he can't in diverse situations. It's quite clear that the risk to reward ratio would be much more promising with new talents in those limited F1 seats than with someone that's consolidated as a "meh" driver
When I was in college I waited tables with a guy who always talked about becoming a race car driver. For the longest time. We became friends and hung out....he had a decent apartment.....didnt seem like he had money. Until he moved. His dad got him an apartment that took up an entire floor on some high rise apartment building and had told him he would either give him $250k for college or for training to become a race car driver. He opted to be a driver, of course, and his dad moved him closer to where he would be trained. It was bizarre. People talk about things all the time, I just figure this was one of those "when I grow up, I will be a millionaire" type of people who just talked about their dreams a lot. Didnt know it was in the works.

As much as I think he doesn’t deserve the seat, I do think that without Lance, Lawrence Stroll would not invest in F1 and hence we wouldn’t be able to see Alonso fighting for podiums in these past couple seasons. All top teams were too occupied anyway with their young drivers talent program and would consider twice before signing Alonso back for 2023 season. In a universe without Lance Stroll, the team we know as AM now would probably be just some other midfielder team that wouldn’t be as entertaining to watch
I think it’s his dad who’s spoiling him more than anything he seems to put in the work and is truly passionate which I think is shown in the quick recovery of both wrists I think if most had the opportunity he does and the money backing him they would continue on as well
Occasionally flashes of excellence but on the whole not consistent enough. F1 becoming ever more financially successful, is moving away from pay drivers. Which is a good thing but let us not forget that many teams for a long time could not survive without them. For all the bad rep that is projected on his son, Lawrence made massive investments in F1 that not only kept teams alive but in the case of Aston Martin, put it on a healthy trajectory with state of the art facilities.

I agree it's obvious why Lance is in the seat. But I can also say there are/were plenty of rent-a-drivers in F1 history who are/were worse. Though most of them didn't last for 8 yrs in F1. At least Lance is able to overcome his teammates in races from time to time. He's not losing them all. He's below the average level in modern F1 but when there are guys like Mick Schumacher, Logan Sargeant, De Vries and even Ricciardo (2022 and onwards version). Lance is maybe slightly above them but not very great of course. I recall someone said recently that it's unbelieveable how Lance is 8th year in F1 and pilot his car like this. That concludes the perfect image of his driving skills

Honestly Stroll isn't as bad as some other drivers I've seen since I started watching F1 in 2004. I can even say he is talented..The problem is that his development as a driver is very uneven. He can overtake and he can also be very fast on some tracks. But he lacks consistency that is required of an F1 driver. Yet he has a lot of time to gain consistency as he is still young. Judging him too harshly against his teammate Alonso, who is literally one of the most talented people in the history of F1, would be unfair.

I am shocked a) the other AM investors have not demanded a legitimate driver, b) Honda didn't get the right to name a driver as part of its exclusive engine supply deal, and c) Lance still has a super license.

I don't mind pay-to-drive drivers, since this has always been in racing.. But when you choose that, over winning something, as a team. Then it should be a problem.. I don’t mean to take away from what these guys do because F1 takes a lot of skill and is very demanding But the barrier for entry is a lot higher than most sports. 99% of drivers come from a wealthy family, even carting is extremely expensive and not feasible for most people. It is a big investment for your gear and then you have to keep pumping money into upkeep, travel, and entry fees. Especially when compared to most sports that only require some cleats/shoes, gloves and other miscellaneous equipment depending on the sport. Again this isn’t saying these driver don’t deserve praise for what they do, just pointing out that most people aren’t able to afford it.
Not true. On the grid today there are many drivers that do not come from wealthy backgrounds. Hamilton, Ocon, Alonso, Bottas, Russel, Gasly and Tsunoda. They all come from ordinary working class families with average or quite limited means, and some of them even from very meagre backgrounds. And then there are several on the grid from ordinary middle class families but with fathers who themselves already have had some success in motorsport racing, and possibly have earned enough through their winnings to support their sons. And where their family names already are somewhat established in the motorsport community and their connections can help support their sons. Verstappen and Sainz are examples of the latter.

I've watched almost all of his races in F1. He has some decent days but overall the guy would be dropped on probably every other team. Just this past weekend he beached his car in Brazil on a formation lap. Who does that? Like how bad of a driver are you to go off during a formation lap.
All motorsports costs money... karting can be extremely expensive. But you up your chances to win when you can buy custom parts others can not...thats not winning by being good.
I don't necessarily respect him as a person, granted he is my age and I obviously envy his bloodline, but I don't HATE Lance Stroll. It's a crazy take! He's an alright driver who drives on the level of Magnussen or Zhou. And he's not a bad person, although I won't fogret the physical attack he made on his personal trainor. Naturally, we will always make jokes olabout Stroll and make fun of him for the fact that he is a pay-driver who would have likely lost his F1 seat at Williams had it not been for his dad's enormous wealth. With that said, I don't believe anybody actually "hates" him but I can only speak for myself.

IDK man, but based on the story, I can't really help but root for this guy, he's obviously not as skilled as the other drivers, but he still keeps driving despite all the mockery and insults thrown at him. Add to that the pressure of living under the shadow of a billionaire father who's probably expecting him to bring results. He might've been too privileged as a nepo baby, but it probably also comes with the weight of trying to prove himself to his father, and the F1 fanbase's extremely critical and watchful eyes. If I were in that position, I'd probably quit a long time ago and just pursue the family business. He's still young, and I'm hoping that as he grow older, he gains more wisdom as a driver and eventually prove to everyone that he deserved to be an f1 driver, maybe not an excellent one, but just enough to gain people's respect. This is just my opinion, I'm no longer updated with F1 as I haven't watched F1 since the Alonso - Renault era, due to our cable provider being cut off, I never got back to watching it since then, but nowadays I do check it from time to time if it happens to appear to my TH-cam recommendations.
If stroll wasn’t such a terrible driver I wouldn’t be annoyed. All of these other drivers have to prove themselves to be in f1. I feel you need to prove yourself even more to be WORTHY of you taking 1 of 20 seats. But he hasn’t. He has been in f1 for 7 years and just because he’s good in the wet doesn’t mean he’s worthy of f1. He still makes very stupid rookie mistakes and causes millions of dollars of damage. It was fine when the team was starting to figure things out and he could hide behind the fact that he was bad. But now they’re a legitimate title contender and he still fucks it into the barriers every other fucking race.

His father, Anthony Hamilton, gave him a remote controlled car when he was five and Lewis quickly won his first two trophies against adult competition. The sport is definitely very expensive and this obviously leads it to mostly being a rich man’s sport in modern years. The money needed to support the kind of career a person must have from a very young age up to adulthood to be competitive, is immense. So this makes motorsport something predominantly for the very wealthy. However in the top class, Formula 1, there are surprisingly many not coming from wealth. While not all are coming from very meagre backgrounds, quite many of the come from ordinary families, say working class backgrounds. As already mentioned Sir Lewis, but besides him, Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas, George Russell, Daniel Ricciardo, Fernando Alonso, Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda all come from families not abundant in wealth. Let's not forget how Valtteri deliberately joined Mercedes, because he wanted to be the Hamilton's pet, instead of a Formula 1 champion. Stroll may have been labelled as "Daddy's cash", but Bottas has less trophies than Harry Kane and is worse than Jolyon Palmer. Drivers like Bottas (purposely joining a team only to make your teammate better than he actually is instead of fighting for the title) and pay drivers DON'T deserve a seat in F1, while drivers like Oliver Bearman, Mick Schumacher, Nicholas Latifi and Bruno Senna definitely deserve a seat in F1.

Unironically, yes. Many of his radio comments have made very clear that he simply doesn't have the headspace of real F1 drivers. It's why he has stupid crashes so often. He just turns into the apex without checking his mirrors because he's literally incapable of doing that while braking for the corner at the same time.

It's quite clear that the risk to reward ratio would be much more promising with new talents in those limited F1 seats than with someone that's consolidated as a "meh" driver
When I was in college I waited tables with a guy who always talked about becoming a race car driver. For the longest time. We became friends and hung out....he had a decent apartment.....didnt seem like he had money. Until he moved. His dad got him an apartment that took up an entire floor on some high rise apartment building and had told him he would either give him $250k for college or for training to become a race car driver.
He opted to be a driver, of course, and his dad moved him closer to where he would be trained. It was bizarre. People talk about things all the time, I just figure this was one of those "when I grow up, I will be a millionaire" type of people who just talked about their dreams a lot. Didnt know it was in the works.

As much as I think he doesn’t deserve the seat, I do think that without Lance, Lawrence Stroll would not invest in F1 and hence we wouldn’t be able to see Alonso fighting for podiums in these past couple seasons. All top teams were too occupied anyway with their young drivers talent program and would consider twice before signing Alonso back for 2023 season.
In a universe without Lance Stroll, the team we know as AM now would probably be just some other midfielder team that wouldn’t be as entertaining to watch

Which is a good thing but let us not forget that many teams for a long time could not survive without them. For all the bad rep that is projected on his son, Lawrence made massive investments in F1 that not only kept teams alive but in the case of Aston Martin, put it on a healthy trajectory with state of the art facilities.

I agree it's obvious why Lance is in the seat. But I can also say there are/were plenty of rent-a-drivers in F1 history who are/were worse. Though most of them didn't last for 8 yrs in F1. At least Lance is able to overcome his teammates in races from time to time. He's not losing them all. He's below the average level in modern F1 but when there are guys like Mick Schumacher, Logan Sargeant, De Vries and even Ricciardo (2022 and onwards version). Lance is maybe slightly above them but not very great of course. I recall someone said recently that it's unbelieveable how Lance is 8th year in F1 and pilot his car like this. That concludes the perfect image of his driving skills

Honestly Stroll isn't as bad as some other drivers I've seen since I started watching F1 in 2004. I can even say he is talented..The problem is that his development as a driver is very uneven. He can overtake and he can also be very fast on some tracks. But he lacks consistency that is required of an F1 driver. Yet he has a lot of time to gain consistency as he is still young. Judging him too harshly against his teammate Alonso, who is literally one of the most talented people in the history of F1, would be unfair.

I don’t mean to take away from what these guys do because F1 takes a lot of skill and is very demanding But the barrier for entry is a lot higher than most sports. 99% of drivers come from a wealthy family, even carting is extremely expensive and not feasible for most people. It is a big investment for your gear and then you have to keep pumping money into upkeep, travel, and entry fees. Especially when compared to most sports that only require some cleats/shoes, gloves and other miscellaneous equipment depending on the sport. Again this isn’t saying these driver don’t deserve praise for what they do, just pointing out that most people aren’t able to afford it.
Not true. On the grid today there are many drivers that do not come from wealthy backgrounds. Hamilton, Ocon, Alonso, Bottas, Russel, Gasly and Tsunoda. They all come from ordinary working class families with average or quite limited means, and some of them even from very meagre backgrounds. And then there are several on the grid from ordinary middle class families but with fathers who themselves already have had some success in motorsport racing, and possibly have earned enough through their winnings to support their sons. And where their family names already are somewhat established in the motorsport community and their connections can help support their sons. Verstappen and Sainz are examples of the latter.

IDK man, but based on the story, I can't really help but root for this guy, he's obviously not as skilled as the other drivers, but he still keeps driving despite all the mockery and insults thrown at him. Add to that the pressure of living under the shadow of a billionaire father who's probably expecting him to bring results. He might've been too privileged as a nepo baby, but it probably also comes with the weight of trying to prove himself to his father, and the F1 fanbase's extremely critical and watchful eyes. If I were in that position, I'd probably quit a long time ago and just pursue the family business. He's still young, and I'm hoping that as he grow older, he gains more wisdom as a driver and eventually prove to everyone that he deserved to be an f1 driver, maybe not an excellent one, but just enough to gain people's respect. This is just my opinion, I'm no longer updated with F1 as I haven't watched F1 since the Alonso - Renault era, due to our cable provider being cut off, I never got back to watching it since then, but nowadays I do check it from time to time if it happens to appear to my TH-cam recommendations.

If stroll wasn’t such a terrible driver I wouldn’t be annoyed. All of these other drivers have to prove themselves to be in f1. I feel you need to prove yourself even more to be WORTHY of you taking 1 of 20 seats. But he hasn’t. He has been in f1 for 7 years and just because he’s good in the wet doesn’t mean he’s worthy of f1. He still makes very stupid rookie mistakes and causes millions of dollars of damage. It was fine when the team was starting to figure things out and he could hide behind the fact that he was bad. But now they’re a legitimate title contender and he still fucks it into the barriers every other fucking race.
I disagree, he's not the best but worthy of the sport. There are drivers on the grid not showing anything either and we've seen worse before. Also many of the drivers on grid come from money.

Absolutely not. Sir Lewis Hamilton came from a poor family. His father, Anthony Hamilton, gave him a remote controlled car when he was five and Lewis quickly won his first two trophies against adult competition. This sparked his passion and a dream of some time being in F1 and becoming a world champion. At six his father got him a kart for Christmas and said he would support his career and dream as long as he worked hard at school. They had no money and at his father had to work four jobs at one time to finance his racing and his dream, and Lewis had to sleep on the couch. At some time his father would pick up the used and discarded tyres of others so Lewis would have something to practice with. In addition to coming from a poor family with no money, no connections and no motorsport history, Lewis was black. This presented an even further challenge in a sport that has been predominantly white for a long time. Sir Lewis has told that people would laugh at them and make jokes about them.
The sport is definitely very expensive and this obviously leads it to mostly being a rich man’s sport in modern years. The money needed to support the kind of career a person must have from a very young age up to adulthood to be competitive, is immense. So this makes motorsport something predominantly for the very wealthy. However in the top class, Formula 1, there are surprisingly many not coming from wealth. While not all are coming from very meagre backgrounds, quite many of the come from ordinary families, say working class backgrounds. As already mentioned Sir Lewis, but besides him, Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas, George Russell, Daniel Ricciardo, Fernando Alonso, Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda all come from families not abundant in wealth. In addition, there also are several coming from originally quite ordinary or working class families, but where their fathers have been racing drivers with some more or less success, probably being able to support their sons’ careers with some of their earnings from their racing. This having the advantage of already having a family name established in the motorsport community and having plenty of connections. Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz are examples in last category.

Nevertheless against all odds Lewis quickly began winning races and class championships, and at ten Lewis became the youngest driver to win the British Cadet Karting Championship. It was then he said the famous words to then McLaren F1 boss Ron Dennis when approaching him for an autograph, “Hi. I’m Lewis Hamilton. I won the British Championship and one day I want to be racing your cars”, whereas Dennis wrote in his autograph book, “Phone me in nine years, we’ll sort something out then.”
Lewis kept on working hard with his dad working even harder to keep him in a sport that is increasingly insanely expensive the further up you get in the classes.
In 1998, five years too soon judging from his own words written in Lewis’s autograph book, after Lewis’s second Super One series and British Championship wins, Dennis made a call to the Hamilton family and offered Lewis a seat in the McLaren driver development programme. This came with a contract that included a possibility for a future F1 seat. Later this would make Hamilton the youngest driver to have secured a contract that actually later resulted in an F1 drive.
The following years Lewis kept on racing earning many great wins and championships.
He won the Formula A European Championship, the Formula Renault UK Championship, the Bahrain Formula Three Superprix, the F3 Euro Series Championship(dominating and winning all but 5 of the 20 rounds), the F3 Marlboro Masters series, and the GP2 championship(in his first season) before reaching his dream and getting a seat in Formula 1.
The rest is history, Sir Lewis Hamilton won two F1 championships with McLaren before moving to Mercedes and winning another five championships, making him the most winning and most successful f1 driver in the world, being a seven times F1 World Champion, only paralleled by Michael Schumacher, and having won most F1 races of alle times with 105 wins, most pole positions with 104 wins, and having won most podiums with 201 wins.
But it’s not over.
History is still in the making, as Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton at age 39 still is competing in F1 and, will from next year on drive for Ferrari. He could actually go on to win yet another F1 title and would then become totally unquestionable the greatest racing driver of all times.
If at all there’s any doubt he already is…

Let's not forget how Valtteri deliberately joined Mercedes, because he wanted to be the Hamilton's pet, instead of a Formula 1 champion. Stroll may have been labelled as "Daddy's cash", but Bottas has less trophies than Harry Kane and is worse than Jolyon Palmer. Drivers like Bottas (purposely joining a team only to make your teammate better than he actually is instead of fighting for the title) and pay drivers DON'T deserve a seat in F1, while drivers like Oliver Bearman, Mick Schumacher, Nicholas Latifi and Bruno Senna definitely deserve a seat in F1.

No one makes this complaint about tennis, or equestrianism, or golf, or skiing, or any of the countless other "Rich daddy" games. ALL F1 drivers have rich and/or famous daddies... Lance's dad just happens to be a bit richer than most. Apply a little logic to your jealous little rant will you? They all start in karting when they're 7 or 8 then go up through the junior formulas. How many 8 years olds do you know who can afford a racing kart? How many 13 year olds can afford an F4 car? Hell, even F2 drivers are barely old enough to get a driving licence!
