Great job Albert! BUT you need to promise John and your fans, the next time you fine gold you will show your face! It will make your gold more special to us!
Can’t say enough. Everybody has already said it.But I think the square object that Albert found. Was a drum pin or badge. Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge with us. Can’t wait for the next chapter.
The Wesley Guild badge. Methodist. Late 1890s Liverpool. Congratulations Uncle Albert! I too thought those were 'scrotal' bells and my mind was straining trying to figure out how that would have worked. :) Not so ignorant now after a few years of watching detectorists and archaeology. Have a good weekend everyone. There is a Jamboree at Dewberry tomorrow and the ladies are taking a road trip.
Another highly entertaining video!!! This is why I can't get enough of your chanel!!! Well done guys! Cold, frozen? No matter for The Scottish Detectorists!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Ray! Glad you enjoyed. It was freeeeeezing!!! 🥶 in fact if I’d realised how cold it was before leaving the house I wouldn’t have gone 🤣 and Albert stole the show! Have a great weekend
Omg!!! How many coins are in that field as well as relics 😍 Well done that man elusive Albert! He’s so lucky but what a fantastic permission that is. So chuffed for him and sorry the silver and gold eluded you John but what a great video and thanks so much for letting us see the finds from both of you. That’s a beautiful half sovereign and your commemorative medal and the bell are brilliant too. What a day! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Even though it was Albert who found gold, a wee lie down in appreciation was a nice gesture on your part, John. All the finds were remarkable, as you say, no one would complain. I know your silver and gold is coming as well. Get out of those frozen fields and warm up the bendy thumb. Cheers from Texas.
Nice of Albert to invite you and to share his permission. Frozen fields of Perthshire but you two persisted and got rewarded! Beautiful gold coin! 🥰💕❤️👍👍
Many thanks Terry!! Coldest days detecting I’ve had this winter!! In fact if I’d known how cold it was I probably wouldn’t have gone! As you saw the water bottle froze on my hip!! 🤣 🥶
Your time will come Again John, your on some Amazing land there. and there is more there to be Had. All the Best to you John and Albert HH 👍😊Great video guys.love your channel John. It’s the Best👍😊
Absolutely amazing day lads!! Albert is the new dirty berty he's proper smashing it! This bloke never ceases to amaze us! If he's not smashing silvers or bronze bulls or prospecting huge gold nuggets he's smashing gold half sovereigns!! Get in there lads! Great video as always John thanks for sharing keep up the hard work mate 👍
What an amazing day! John, you should be proud of your protégés. They have learned from the best and their discoveries show that. Thanks again for a great days detecting. And fantastic history lessons too.
The pressed item that Albert found (top right on his glove) is a drum! I had an old Boys Brigade one that had BB on the front. Drummers in the BB bands wore them. Great work boys - well done!
It is great to see the early silver Victorian coins pop up in such pristine collection ! I have collected coins for nearly 61 years and had a big collection until the Grandchildren came along ,especially my Grandson who religiously collects them .95 % of my early Victorian silver have been worn smooth due to circulation and the other 5% are nowhere as good as these ! Great to see them like that ! A really enjoyable Video John !
Well done, Albert! Great video. You're taking this very well, John. You're a gentleman! Hope it's your turn next time! You'll have to sneak back without him. 😅
Albert was nice to invite you to join him at his permission, but he didn't share the silver and gold today. lol Better you than me digging up all those treasures in the freezing cold. Thanks John.
This is going to sound like sour grapes, but......Detecting for you in Scotland, is truely like an Easter egg hunt. One here, one here, another one over here..and Look ! I found a gold one!! Pictue John skipping through the grass with a basket over his arm. We envy the heck out of you. I once heard a comedian say, Europe is where history is from. You are blessed. Ok, I feel better now. Eat your lunch.
A couple of die hard diggers you are. 🥶 You’re giving the term “frozen in time” a whole new meaning. But yeah…… GOLD!! 🤩 Next time we at least want to see you dance a wee jig Albert! After finding gold John always presents us a video featuring him lying down smiling for half an hour, talking jibber. 😂 Congratulations to you both. 🍀🍀
What a great episode. John, you were magnanimous in defeat....maybe next time you will equal Albert's awesome haul. Well done to the two Scottish Detectorists...🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Way to go Albert! Congratulations! Now can you pass that lucky horseshoe back to our man here? Lol John you should next time you go out with Albert, ask him which way he is going on the field and run grab that area before he can get it! I think he has built in coin radar!
The wedge you found 11 mins in would have been used to splay the hickory shaft of a tool, once the tool was attached. To hold the pick axe/sledge hammer/hoe onto the shaft
How wonderful that your friends have all done so well. It means you’ve taught them well. 👍👍 That is a reward in of itself. But to add to that, you also have amazing finds. Well done.
Great finds Albert. eBay is selling your half sovereign between $550. and $650. Congratulations man. You had a day that even the most seasoned detectorist would envy. You found some great artifacts too John. Congratulations.
About 30 years ago, I had a friend that had two complete sets of crotal bells. She had me attach both sets onto leather straps. She hung them on the front door of her house.
"The Kings Speech" was Amazing! All should watch. As an American, I loved this movie! No one is beyond a fault, no one. It takes a strong perseverance and aptitude to overcome our own fears, even those suffered by a King.
Thanks James. So happy for Albert. I know that feeling of getting your first gold coin and now that’s Martyn - 6 months, Pete - 9 months and Albert - 1 year (or six months with an XP DEUS 2!) all had gold…. Now only Simon to go 😮
What a day for the two of you. That one piece that Albert found looks like a drum badge. But three silver and one gold for Albert, well done! You had a decent day yourself with that Crotal Bell, as well as the coins you found. That small axe head may very well be an axe head, since they were fastened onto the handle wit straps of leather, so well done. That's definitely something for the museum. The Edward VII coronation medal is also outstanding! You need a good hot cup of cocoa to warm up!
@@thescottishdetectorist Thanks John! The weather has returned to normal after a week or two of freezing temperatures. Btw have you decided on a intermittent fasting regime yet? Good luck my friend and good health!
Glad to hear Ted!! I’d heard it was a bit cold in Texas recently. Not something we usually think of here when it comes to Texas!! I’m working at my diet, doing some fasting, dumped the sugar, upped the water intake…. And dare I say cut the alcohol (mostly!!) and so far 5lb off in ten days!! Hope you are both well and send my best to Stacy. Let me know when you’re coming detecting on the fields of Perthshire!! I’ve a spare machine 😉
@@thescottishdetectorist That would be a dream hunt for me! Stacy and I want to return to see the Highlands, maybe we can add an extra day just for that! Thanks John we’ll stay in touch.
It always amazes me the minimal wear and aging if any these gold coins uncovered pop up showing, this one being 114 years old today, Gold is something unique and special element
I am a McKinney coming from MacKenzie Clan of Scotland. I hope to revisit Scotland one day. Love this channel and the finds. I can't imagine finding something that old.. Florida USA
The current Golden Hinde in London is a sea worthy reproduction of the original ship. The original Golden Hinde was broken down in the late 1600s. Back in the late 1980s, the reproduction did a world tour and spent 2 years travelling the west coast of North America. I went on a tour of the Golden Hinde when it was in Garibaldi Oregon. It's a small fishing port town and I went mid week and nearly had the whole ship to myself. It was a really enjoyable explore of the ship that afternoon. Go check out the ship when you are in London, it's beautiful.
Your badge find--courtesy of Wikipedia: "The "One Heart, One Way" motto of the Guild was suggested by the heraldic motto of Earl of Exeter - Cor unum, via una. A cross-like emblem that was placed at the entrance of the Castle of the Earl of Exeter in Britain had this inscription as taken from the Bible Book of Jeremiah 32:38 and was used as a guiding principle for the knights of the Earl. The emblem was adopted for the use of the Wesley Guild in 1898 and formally used in 1903 when the Wesley Guild charter first introduced." I looked up scrotal bell, no luck. 🤣 Another entertaining episode! Stay warm!
Great video 👌 I had my first gold after 10 months. Just a broken 9ct ring. Then 2 months after that I had a 3000 year old Bronze Age sleeve fastener 😎 4 bits of gold in 7 years and still looking for my first gold coin. 🤞
Congrats to you both on the finds! John, since I've heard you refer to them in the past, Albert is your "Muck boots" Mark of the Hoover Boys. Same anonymity and same spectacular finds! Enjoyed as always and wish you future luck!
Albert must now be " Goldie Lucks " 😄 The " scrotal bell" probably late 1800's as plain, the 17-1800's ones usually decorated on bottom half , I was fortunate enough to get a spill of three of these that are all ringers here in Canada 😉🇨🇦
Congratulations Albert.. Wow, what a go.. John, I love your little wedge. And I thought you found another medal just like this one today, back awhile ago. Little over a week ago I had a temp of -68° below zero. But no I wasn't even going outside.
Really great finds both of u❤. So amazing that Albert find that gold and silvercoins.and that really beautiful silver buckle(? Was that correctly spelled) He must be over the moon. 💕👋🇫🇮
Wow, Wow John, great dig indeed! Well done to Albert on the gold, fantastic!! Re' Sparrows, as a lad in the 50's l used to help the farm workers. One of them said that when he was a boy his parents took a stick and a bright light to the corn stacks to collect Sparrows, for Sparrow pie! (a way to get protein). In the 50's with their 'dockey' (lunch), they always drank cold tea! (mostly in a Corona bottle). Their lunch bags were generally WW2 gas mask bags. Cheers, John.
Albert🔥 we may need to rename him Midas! His random piece of copper looks like a drum to me. Beautiful (s)crotal bell. The gorgeous swallow being a clip on earring makes so much sense! What a day! You actually must be a very good mentor! 😊
Wow with that collection Albert can buy a whole pub! How many pints of beer for the half sovereign John? Congrats both another cracking adventure that it's an honour to tag along for

From a MacEachen to a MacEachern, much appreciated!
You need to call Albert "Goldfinger" now! It was like the Olympics for Albert today, Bronze, Silver and Gold!
Wow! Congrats to Albert. And as a side note the one item he found was a WW1 Drummers Proficiency Badge. Great video, thanks for sharing it.
