You're going the right way about the restoration......get your kids to do all the work done that they can. But seriously what they can do teaches them how to work with tools properly and safely and also gets the family involved.
Thoroughly enjoyed the build of Sloe Patrol James and so glad your taking on this build. I’m really engrossed in this series of vlogs. Hoping it all goes well in your favour. Your a top man.
Great video. So glad to see Flo and Arthur onboard and helping out. They must be excited. Glad you found the binder with all the information. You really have got a lot of work done in just a matter of days…..and been able to edit and post videos! Great job James! You are a hard worker. Looking forward to seeing the transformation. Thanks for taking us on the journey. Very excited for you. 🤗😊 Kathy
Finding the boats log book is fantastic and now you get to add all of the electric and plumbing plans, receipts and warranties of everything you are adding and restoring to it. Plus with the engine bay being clear of the engine parts, it will make having to paint it so much easier than when you had to do it for sloe patrol. You really are grafting, making sure to be as efficient as possible having the boat in the yard, keeping everything crossed that the engine and everything it needs can be restored back to full working order 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤗
I was going to suggest naming her Sloe Going but you are cracking at her so fast!! Wow! Loved seeing the kids taking part! Thats exactly how you instill pride in their home. Cant wait to see everything you do!
Great seeing you back at it! Cruising vids were fine but I enjoy watching you build more. My unsolicited opinion on the ceiling, don't take it down. Staggard board lengths are to prevent horizontal lines when you look the length of the boat and give it a smoother, non-segmented look.
Evening again young James 😊 great progress on project 57 already and looking good 👍🏻 That engine is probably hydro locked if it’s full of water 🤔 I’m sure your man I’ll know that and drain it first 😮This is just like the beginning again with the Sloe Patrol but a bigger job lol 😆 But as always James you’ll make it fun and entertaining as you go. Hopping parcels will start arriving soon as that was alway great viewing 🤩 Cheers Stevie
Hi James, loving this new series focusing on project 58 😅 your new home. Its excellent to see you in the boat yard making things happen there. I'm sure the vetus will be OK tomorrow and won't take too much persuasion to turn over 👌😊
Great video James. High speed ahead. It’s going to look amazing. Love it your doing a diary every day. Have watched you from build of Sloe Patrol. Take care. 😊
Seeing that binder is like finding a cars build sheet (tucked into back seat springs). ;-) Is there space behind the red panels and if there is, are you going to redo the sides to gain more room?
I saw yesterday's vid after coming back from a trip, and here's another and you've accomplished SO MUCH....and I haven't even unpacked yet! 😂Guess I'd better make a start on that and get a load of laundry done before you've finished and moved in!
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt Suitcase contents have been laundered and taken out of the drier with a great degree of success, but I'm fairly certain that you'll be done with the blacking before it's all folded and put away! 😅
Hey again ! Loving this posting daily ! May I ask a sort of personal question, have you got the boat legally signed over to you ? Don’t fancy you doing all that work then the owner wanting it back ! ( not saying he would though ! X) xx
No it’s not my boat legally. The owner no longer lives in the UK mainland so he doesn’t want it. That was always going to be worked out once we knew how much we’d have to spend and do to get this boat right - we’ll sort that before I take it on properly
You don't mess about bro love your videos from the start of slo patrol now to a 58foot looking forward to see her finished mate keep doing what your doing all the best daz
Wow, the fact that you found the Bible/Holy Grail for the boat was amazing. All the info on the boat in a binder. The Boat already looks great. Have you chosen a name for her?
Whilst the engine is out, it would be worth dropping the sump off and rocker cover and inspect for play and acid corrosion. Will only cost a few gaskets. Possibly drop the timing chest cover if you can get at it,. And main crank seals replace, whilst it's out of the boat. Really future proof yourself.
Making quick progress and great seeing the kids involved too. Do u know how old the boat is ? It doesn’t look that old to me. Say 2004 ish ? Every best wish- loving these vlogs btw.
Fair Play to you James. I notice that the engine bay seems wet again, is there any way to stop the rain water or is that just the wat it is with narrowboat engine bays?
Very cool to see the kids involved - a way to learn practical skills - how many kids know how to use a drill as a screwdriver? On the humors side, I was wondering how big the starboard cabinet actually is. It seemed a bit like a clown car as you kept pulling more and more stuff from it, was waiting for Jimmy Hoffa’s body to come out 😮. I am a little disappointed that it turns out that she’s 58’ long. I kept associating her with 1957 Gibson Les Paul Gold Tops. You know me, always about the guitars. Keep up the good work!
Great to watch the progress! Myself, I'm about as handy as a mallet is to a watchmaker, but wouldn't it be easier to remove the surface rust from the underside using a drill with a rotating wire brush attached?
this is great , another build video... did i miss a life update video? how come they gave it to you? are you not working? sorry to sound nosey but having followed you from day 1 and seeing your ups and downs i feel part of it ;0) keep doing you
That make no difference to be honest. Ralph is a surveyor and she’s been well looked around. We’ll do some thickness readings and will get a hull survey for future purposes but the boat is sound
ill tell you what James compared to the massive amount of work you had to put into sloe partrol which has turned out beautiful by the way this is almost a diy and decorate job , i wont jinx it for you by using the words straight forwad lol
I know what you mean. But that’s no just the only difference. It’s not lockdown. I’m 20 minutes from sloe patrol my home, I’m 5 minutes from parents house with a shower and food. I’ve got Rob. I don’t have a boss yelling at me. This is sooooo much better
