i suggest you should review the Phoenicia resort in Romania the last time i went it was amazing.
It's not 5-star lol.
Is there car hire there?
Bing watched your videos for the past couple of days. I am digging them.
I live in Louisville, Ky home of the Kentucky Derby. It comes on the 1st Saturday in May. We do have an iconic hotel called "The Brown" I have
never been but it is a very luxurious hotel. If you do stay try the famous hot brown and please let me know.
Look up Waverly hills sanatorium. One of the top scary places in the world. I have been but when it was a real place in the 1970s. I refuse to go and live under 5 minutes away.
Also 30 minutes away from Frox Knox. The home of US gold.
You forgot to mention the price of everything!! Even the meal do you still remember how much you paid?
I’m so used to seeing Longyearbyen through the eyes of Cecilia Blomdahl. It was quite surreal and nice change seeing it from your perspective, Tim. We get the full tourist tour. The hotel looks so cosy and the food looks divine!
I watch Cecilia too,lovely content
I was about to ask if Tim got to meet Grim who lives on Svalbard!
@@dogsbody416He did ask apparently, but she declined to meet.
@@marcd6897 she did?? Wow i wonder why?
@@marcd6897 oh really? I wonder why..where did you read Tim say that? On this video or last?
I have terrible agoraphobia ( fear of the public ) so thank you for allowing us to live vicariously through your detailed tours. This one is my favorite so far, it gives off really homely energy ❤
You are so welcome!
Agoraphobia is not the fear of the public
It’s the fear of going outside
@@tshelby5212 I won't ever argue through a keyboard so we'll just agree to disagree.

Things will get better. The cure to agoraphobia is exposure therapy. Put yourself in situation that slowly trigger the panic and stop. Once you keep doing it, you'll start to make progress slowly.
One of the small pleasures i like in this life is laying in bed and listening to the cold wind howling through tiny cracks in windows and coming down the chimney in the wintertime. Heating on full as well as watching snow/rain lashing up against the windows
The fact that we get free travel videos from Tim on TH-cam is priceless, keeping the knowledge & entertainment alive. 🙏🙏🙏
We get free -travel- videos -from Tim- on TH-cam.

You're a good human being, Tim. I wish you the best, and many more opportunities in the future. Your channel is so nice to listen to. It's a quiet corner, away from all of the anger, hatred, and vitriol, as well as the stress of the outside world. It's a refreshing place to retreat to, and I'm grateful for it. Thank you!
Thank you very much!
I agree. We need this. I watch a couple of his videos when I get into bed before I go to sleep.
When he was in the grocery in the first hotel he stayed in I was thinking that it is so cold they must have a heated bag so it doesn’t freeze - I live in Florida and have cold bags to get fresh food home to the frig.
Tim, it was so nice to see these videos of the far North. Growing up in a climate similar to what I have seen here, I can tell you that I won't be traveling to any cold place for the remainder of my life (had enough cold winters for three lifetimes when I lived back home) but the beauty of TH-cam is that I can see places that I would not dare go through content creators such as yourself:) Thank you for sharing.
Quite amazing how natural you speak to the camera. We all feel you speak to us. Good job!
Scandinavian style. Love it. Dinner looked amazing and very reasonably priced for the Quality and variety. What an experience. It'll definitely be on my bucket list😅
LOVE that you take your shoes off and put on slippers....SO much cleaner for all!
Tim, I always lurk and never comment but I just need to wish you and your family a Very VERY Merry Christmas. I won't go too sentimental with what I'm saying but seeing such a loving father figure is healing my inner child every video and for that I cannot thank you enough.
Thank you, means alot. Merry Christmas to you too
Looks like a lovely hotel Tim and that meal looked good. I personally couldn’t be doing with the constant darkness, I struggle enough with the early darkness in the Uk in winter! But good to have the experiences and definitely looks cosy at night! All the best to you and your family ❤️
It looked lovely, warm and and very inviting but like you I wouldn't like the near constant darkness. But then they have the Midnight Sun in summer! Anyway, thank you for producing such enjoyable travelogs this year. I appreciate all the work and time that goes into it. Wishing you, Gaby, Holly and Casper a very merry and relaxing Christmas!
I think that both polar night and the midnight sun would be difficult -- for the first, all you'd want to do is sleep, and for the second, you'd have trouble sleeping unless you get blackout curtains, which I assume most people living that far north use. Winter would be really difficult also because I can't see to drive when it's dark.Thankfully here in Florida, the earliest the sun sets is like 5:30 so I can be home from work by that time.
This looks amazing. I was surprised the meal was so reasonably priced, i also love the no shoes policy. ❤
And so was the hotel lol
The shoes off policy is necessary to keep the dirt from the unsealed roads and ice out of the building. The reminder that no guns are allowed is also necessary as everyone has to carry a gun when outside the town boundaries. These are required to scare away polar bears. They also practice shooting every so often at a shooting range.
Thanks to your video now I've added staying at this hotel to my bucket list. Absolutely gorgeous the hotel ambience and the doorway lights.

Great Vlog again Tim. You always capture the essence of the places you visit. This comes across a really cosy, clean and well presented hotel. I do like the shoe removing and slipper wearing it’s kind of homely to me. Seating areas are very cosy as you rightly point out. Lighting in the hotel looks like it gives the cosy feel too. Food looks amazing but never enough for me. Snow mobiles are great fun , I rode one in Lapland but it wasn’t electric . Thanks again for an amazing insight into this experience Tim
thanks Clive
I like how you’re showing us what it, feels like if it was still dark outside. I like the change in atmosphere. It’s nice seeing what type of things people do in a place where it’s always dark. Great video Tim as always. 🙌
Tim, you are the best man for this job.. excellent reviews every time, no matter where or when...love all of your videos x
I appreciate that!
What a cozy luxurious hotel , that darkness tho ✨❄️
Love the darkness!!
Lots of vitamin D like they do on subs that stay under water for extended periods of time, even under the ice in the arctic.
I couldn't go there. When it's dark outside my brain says it's time to sleep. Listening to the wind outside made me feel so cold. The snowmobile ride was cool. I liked hearing about the water under the ice. That was very interesting. I think it takes a special type person to live there. Safe travels home and glad you didn't run into any lost polar bears.
You could go in summer where its 24/7 light. Midnight sun.
As cold as the north is with all the beautiful snow everywhere looks cozy 😊
Let's make Tim's channel one of the fastest growing channels ever!
It's possible because we all know how addictive these videos are! Not only that, but they're incredibly helpful for those of us that might be visiting these places.
You're the best!
I am very interested in Svalbard. My only concern is that the increase in tourism will damage the delicate ecosystem 😢. Any ideas on how to reduce the environmental footprint and still enjoy all that Svalbard has to offer? Please no anonymous likes or comments on this post. Thanks!
Hello Tim 😊 Very well put together again Tim 👍 What a place. The hotel was lovely and cosy looking indeed 😊
Just recently discovered your channel and I love the hotel tours! Just as a small suggestion - for the ones of us who enjoy a good water pressure, would be nice if you could do a brief water pressure "check" for the sink or shower when presenting the bathrooms. Otherwise great stuff, I'm a new fan of yours 🙂
Thanks for the tip!
Hi Tim , if your ever visiting Amsterdam , theres a Hotel in a Tower crane down by the docks maybe you could try it
its coming in the new year :-)
I could easily spend 6 months in that room, with a good stack of books. Looks so cozy. I've been working at Thule Air Base in NW Greenland. It was the same. During wintertime, nothing happens, and no one cares about anything. Lazy life, easy life.
Personally I liked the darkness (73 degrees North), but many people got desperate. A few suicides and many depressed people. But I really liked the peace and quiet.
Thanks for sharing this interesting trip with us. I loved my holiday to the Arctic circle. Magical to see the Northern lights daily.
Hotel looked great, so cozy, suppose it must be like being on a space station when you think the outside is so hostile with the cold. Must be really hard to get used to that 24 night though. The snow mobile trip looked bloody freezing, haha especially in that wind, bet you were glad to get back in the warm in that lovely cozy hotel in your slippers sitting at the bar 😀👍🥰
Great review!
Love what seems to be a tablet/phone stand and a holder for a wine glass(?) in the bath thingie.
The food @dinner looks amazing and the price isn't even that bad for a restaurant in a 5* hotel.
The Hotel looks fabulous & the food looks delicious 😋. Thanks Tim & Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you & your family 🎄🎅⛄️🥳
this is a trip that I would love to do. But Tim, you should have eaten the reindeer meat. It looked gorgeous and you did shell out for it. It's natural to eat local produce out there. I loved the snow mobile trip and I'd love the wine tasting! Can't believe how dark it is!
I’ve been there. It’s a lovely and cozy hotel!
Very ...
Sorry I had to get on after the exciting hour that it ran, but, fantastic as always, and a GREAT continuous chapter in Tim explores all things icey and exotic!!!
Wonderful job!
I just discovered Cecilia Blomdahl's channel a few weeks ago, and now I found yours and you've been in Svalbard! I feel like I really want to visit... just seems so calm and pretty and peaceful. Bucket list item added!
Welcome aboard!
I suggest that you stay in a hotel in Williamsburg, VA USA. It’s a town that recreates colonial Williamsburg. Christmastime is the best time to visit ( We live near this town and would even enjoy going to the town with you.)
The 5 star hotel is called the Williamsburg Inn
What a beautiful and seemingly well thought out hotel, so cosy and relaxing!
Nice. Them canapes looked brilliant. I'll try them next time I'm up in the Arctic. The smoked reindeer looked quite interesting, but on further perusal of the menu I kept getting a picture in my mind of some bloke in a snowscape with a large flamethrower, standing over a deceased Rudolph. So, I think I'll go for the Arctic char. Have to say , holding the mic up to the window and hearing the wind howling does remind one that it's absolutely Baltic out there.
I LOVE that fireplace❤❤
Nice video Tim. I recently bought a house so I haven't been able to travel for a while, but watching your videos makes me feel like I'm travelling. Loved the style of the hotel.
Brilliant to see this Tim, hotel looked so good and outside so dark, must be strange but I suppose this is all they know, bring on the light nights starting from today, hope to catch you Sunday evening take care love to all 😘 xx
Wow this is such an amazing video! What a beautiful place in our world! Thank you for sharing your adventures!
3rd of your videos I've seen in 2 days. Love to see these places thru you, great tour guide !
I always wanted to travel out of the country, but before my time is done I don't think I'm going to be able to.
This is the next best thing. And thank you. I get to see it through your eyes. It's better than not seeing it at all❤
I'm referring to all of the videos that I've watched so far and your voice is very calming during the tours
Thank you so much for sharing. I love it, it feels like we are traveling with you❤.
This is my favorite 5-star hotel that you've stayed at. I agree with you, what a comfy cozy looking place. Absolutely beautiful !
Thank you for the tour.
I've always loved the "Man/Person versus nature" situations in travel. One of my best dinners was on a Celebrity Cruise ship, having dinner on moderate seas at night. The crests of the waves could be seen swelling above the window (not splashing up but further away) and a significant rock to the crusie ship. Meanwhile, our wine was flowing, and food was arriving...something snug about it. I can see that being that far north...we should be dead, but we're living it up instead! I know this may sound odd!
Cheers and thanks!
I just discovered your channel. It is so interesting to see how other people live and the different customs. Great job!! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!
Make sure you watch many of his earlier videos. I think Tim makes just about the most interesting videos on TH-cam. I know of only a few other content providers that I watch every video they make like I do Tim's.
thank you , hope you had a great Christmas and new year
Once again, a great hotel and awesome room. I love the way you describe everything. Great job!
We really enjoyed this video Tim. Looks amazing & very cosy!
Your room looked very nice, but the hall with the dark green very dark, strange being dark, both night and day 😊
Great video. This place is now on my wish list.
Just wow.
Thanks for all the in-depth info 👍🏼x
Great video! I watch Cecelia and her adventures a lot. This is really interesting to see the other side of the coin though, not from a resident, but from an exploring traveler! Thank you, thank you!🩵
I'm surprised that it wasn't over-expensive! Even the dinner price, for the quality you got, was ok imo. The bedroom was too small for my liking though, looked tighter than the glass igloo 😄
Cool place to visit, maybe for summer solstice next year as comparison? 😉
And everywhere he goes he goes in his thin jeans...😄
Thank you so much, we are all vicarious globetrotters thanks to you!!!❤
Loving these North Pole videos… definitely my favourite location.. I would love to stay in this area😍
Glad you went, I watch Cecilia every week and so very familiar with the awesome Svalbard.
Hi Tim. I love the 5 star cosy hotel it did seem a home away from home place. Really enjoyed the snow mobile ride with it's information about the perm a frost.
I recently discovered your channel and I really enjoy your content. Who would have thought such luxurious hotels existed at the north pole? Santa certainly has some very nice accommodations! The best part is that if the power ever goes out, Rudolph can always lighten things up.
Im a big fan of your videos and think it would be good to visit Tokyo, Japan and witness all the crazy technology and robots they have there, Thankyou for all your great videos and i hope you find this comment, keep up the good work
thank you Hugo
That food looked excellent and the snowmobiling looked great fun
Just reserved five days at Funken Lodge thanks to your video. Hard to get sensible flights from Finland to Svalbard thoug.. One of my favourite channels, keep up the very good
work! Greetings from Finland. :)
Great video, was lucky to visit Svalbard few months ago but stayed at a different hotel. Makes me want to come back and experience it again.
Wow. Super cozy is an understatement. Just put the north pole / northern lights on my bucket list. Thanks!
Beautiful and cozy!
Vielen Dank, super gut gezeigt, als wäre ich mit dabei.
I so love watching your videos! I just discovered them a few days ago. I would be another person that would be depressed in the dark winter. My sister-in-law is from Alaska, and she said that most people get used to it. I would love the summer light, though! Since there is zero percent chance of my going there, I appreciate seeing you enjoying yourself.
What a fabulous cosy hotel! It has the most beautiful ambiance and cosy!
I hope you really enjoyed it. I’m sure your wife would have loved it!
Very enjoyable vids and the food looks suburb. Thank you for sharing.
You need to go back in the summer so we can see the contrast of how the place looks in the daylight!
Coupled with the most northerly hotel, two great experiences in a very unique location. Certainly, a very luxurious hotel. the price of the taster dinner menu I thought was quite reasonable taking into account the hotel and location. I very much like venison and wonder if reindeer may be similar, in terms of richness.
Yes I thinkbits very similar
I didn‘t even know of those islands even less that they might have a 5Stars Hotel so close to the North Pole 🤩 You have definitely that gift to make people feel like being there and every time after watching your videos I imagine visiting those places 😊
Would 100% do such a trip. Thanks for sharing
Great video! We went to Longyearbyen a few years ago now, stayed at the Radisson Blu Polar Hotel which was a great place, though your hotel looks a step up! It's a great place to visit in general, something very different, I'd wanted to go for ages and never got around to it when we lived in the UK...getting there from Australia was a hell of a trek!
Oh wow! Looks so amazing. 😀
that hotel was wowza 😲 very luxurious and comfy 🤩
Lovely hotel and homely feeling nice room food and area and artic place thanks 4 sharing merry Xmas
You are such a lucky man to travel all over the world and experience so much. Great channel really enjoy watching
What a gorgeous place that hotel is - so cosy as you say! The guide on the snowmobile with the rifle reminds me of walking back to the safari tents in Kenya and Tanzania - where the guide had a rifle too in case of big cats / hippos!
Loved your North Pole videos amazing hotels, i bet Gaby wished she could have been there with you. Looking forward to your travels and videos in 2024. Wish you, Gaby, Holly and Casper a lovely Christmas and Happy New Year, love all the Xmas Decorations. Suprised that you would not have picked some up from the German Christmas Market! Take care and happy travels xx Happy Christmas
I bought reindeer from Lidls years ago. I had friends over and I called my soup Rudolf Soup. Not to mention this was Christmas Eve (yes I know slightly dark sense of humour, even darker that night for Santa with out that red nose) I put a cherry tomatoe in everyone's bowl for the nose.
It was alright but I've never bought that meat again.
MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎅 🎄
Strasburg Hotel in Strasburg Virginia. I stayed there quite a bit long time ago. War War 1 private hospital during that time, but turned it into hotel inn. Just thought it was so interesting you would enjoy that.
Svalbard has been on my bucket list for years so these videos were fun to watch! Love all your videos!
Awesome! Thank you!
So interesting! Remember seeing Michael Palin come through here when doing the Pole to Pole series! Looks like a great hotel. But i think i would have to visit only when the country actually does get some sunlight hours! I dont think i could cope with no light at all... Thanks Tim. Your presentations are always 1st Class! I feel like you're a friend of mine talking to me!
This was the first video I have ever seen from your TH-cam channel and I wanted to thank you for the armchair travel I'll never get to the Arctic personally so I found it very interesting!
I couldn't help but notice the lack of people everywhere you went.
I would love to see you visit some interesting and remote places such as Turkey, Armenia, Macedonia, ... The combination of natural beauty and archaeological sites and remoteness would be very interesting to watch!
Great vlog.
Electric snowmobiles is the most ridiculous thing in the Arctic! You couldn't venture too far. You can haul petrol but you can't carry an electrical charging station.
Fantastic review, thanks. This location, conditions and hotel really appeal to me.
Looked amazing Tim very luxurious can't imagine how much it was merry Christmas to you all xx
Omg I need to go there so bad!! My heart would be so happy to see the Northern Lights from there!
Thanks Tim looks so nice but really cold. Have great Christmas with your lovely family. Look forward to next years travels.
Thanks robert Happy holidays!
To build and what’s much more important to maintain this level of comfort and service in the dark ice desert is on the same level of amazing as landing a man on the moon. It also shows what humans can achieve if they stop killing each other and focus on working together
I love your channel and reviews. There is a calmness to it that I just cannot describe. You were desperately trying to describe the reindeer meat, I think gamey was the word you were looking for. Strong flavor like in venison. Keep up the reviews!
Your vlogs are so informative. Really enjoy all your hotel stays x
Thanks Wendy
Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas 🎄🎁 I love watching our videos, very interesting and informative. Xx
looks so cosy!
I went to Svalbard 5 years ago in January and stayed at Funken Lodge for three days, we went to one of the mines that suddenly was left and closed during the first week of advent many years ago, it looked as they, the workers, just walked out and left the x-mas decorations behind in the mine office. We went with dog sledges to Adventdalen in minus 24°C, and to the church open 24/7. It's a pity you did not get to do more. Svalbard and Longyearbyen are absolutely worth a wisit. I do recommend Cecilia Blomdahl's vlogs, she's been living out side Longyearbyen for 7-8 years, showing what it is like living there through polar nights and midsummer nights with sun, and what activitiesis worth doing. I hope to go back, as I live in Norway 🇳🇴 Like your nice vlogs 🎉😊 Merry Christmas.
Ooooo!! So cccccold! What a fascinating place.
Like what you’re doing! Cool location, keep up the good work. Love it! 😊
I just found your channel a couple days ago and love your videos ❤. Hello from Canada 🇨🇦 😊😊
The restaurant where i work used to sell king crab but it got so expensive we took it off the menu. It was $50 for a pound of legs and 2 sides. The legs were typically 3-4 pieces. It did include a claw and did weigh over. I remember one table got 7 orders just for appetizers. Also someone ordered them for their 5 year old.
For reference, it's a dinky family owned restaurant in an off the beaten path tourist area on the coast in the US. So not a place people go for haute cuisine.
For you to spend as much money as you did to go here, this video is not nearly long enough. And would have loved to have seen you walk around the town, maybe go to museum, maybe go to a store, go to the grocery store, go to a local bar, pretty much anything
