    You can use Magic Lantern to remove the Focus Square :) if your dslr supports it

      Might work for some, but I'll avoid in anyone's case who is not really familiar with their camera yet.

      Not sure. To be fair, I've sold all my canon cameras long ago and now I'm on Lumix, so I can't even guess by now. Sorry.

      Wow, that's tricky! You can handle that until you run out of space on your memory card (or hit the record time limit apparently), but still, neat trick! Never thought about that lol.

    Were you getting FHD (1080p) output from your 80D with the webcam utility in OBS? I have the Canon m50 and am only getting 1280x578.....not even 16:9 aspect ratio so I have to upscale the output!

      It's how it's supposed to work. You need to use a program to view the HDMI feed or disconnect the cable

      You're welcome! I'm glad you have found it helpful. What operation system and playback software do you use?
      The built in Windows webcam app was terribly wrong to me as well, but OBS studio worked great!

      The USB video feed is 576p30. Yep, that's right. 1024×576 at 30 frames per second is all you can get. If you have a camera that does clean HDMI out, like the EOS R or EOS RP, you can use a capture device like the BlackMagic Atem Mini, Elgato Camlink 4K or others to get a better quality. The EOS RP can output 4k24fps via HDMI feed, but it crops a huge part of the sensor, if you have a wide angle lens, you could do a trick with the lens, if you have a fixed lens, you would need to be far from the camera, that crop is kinda brutal. I'm happy with 1080p60 via HDMI out.

    • @SpiffyPenguin
      @SpiffyPenguin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fotografiacotidiana The one drawback from using the elgato cam link and other captures is that, for several Canon cams (and I would assume a few non canon cams), you have to be in manual focus mode to get clean video- which kind of defeats the purpose unless you can keep yourself in the exact focal length for your entire stream. :T

    I found that my canon eos100d would run out of battery while using the webcam utility. I bought a new usb cable for it and still had this problem. I wonder am I doing something wrong?

    • @pwolfarts
      @pwolfarts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately these usb2 cameras are not able to receive charge from the pc. You'll need a dummy battery if you want to use it from the wall.

    • @pwolfarts
      @pwolfarts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a small battery like box that replaces your battery, then a cable have to come out of it that goes into the wall with an adapter.

    Any way to get rid of that AF square? I’ve seen a footage from a guy from Canon showing HDMI feed without the freaking square

    • @pwolfarts

      It was probably one of their newer mirrorless cameras EOS R, RP or similar I guess.

    • @pwolfarts
      @pwolfarts  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rafbass What I'm saying is: there is no such and option to remove that annoying square from the hdmi-out in older cameras. Only the new ones can do the trick at the moment. We hope that they'll solve this issue once with a software update or something, but it's may never happen.

    • @fotografiacotidiana

      @@pwolfarts Yeah, thanks for replying to my comment. I will give you a subscrube :)
      Indeed, the EOS R and the EOS RP can output real clean HDMI. I think the M50 does not. I would be really annoyed if I had bought a M50 and tried to use that. I was between the M50 and the RP and (luckily? haha) the M50 was sold out, so I got the RP, and I am pretty happy with the HDMI out feed in Elgato Camlink 4K. The quality is very crisp.
      I work recording videos for online training platforms like Coursera and edX, and recording from the computer is WAY faster than recording in the memory card. It does not give the same quality but the production speed increases so much that it totally pays off, mostly because I can use my Shure SM-7B and the UAD Apollo with the Manley Voxbox plugin to give a superb sound that gets recorded directly into the video footage. Achieving that in a camera without XLR input would be consume lots of time because I would need to record the audio separately and sync later.
      Thanks for the video, it helped me a lot! Cheers!

      It's a different price level 🤷‍♂ just about the ball park of an EOS R with native usb webcam support. It does make sense if you're a film-maker to have an athem, but not as much if you're a vlogger/hobbyis.

    Watching this makes me wonder why anyone would opt to not use the free webcam utility as it looks better and is,,,uh,,well FREE!

    • @The_Trained_Observer
      @The_Trained_Observer ปีที่แล้ว

      To achieve any resolution higher than 720p using the Canon EOS Webcam Utility requires the user to pay a subscription fee to unlock the premium features. And this solution still limits the user to a maximum of 1080p. 4K is not possible without the appropriate HDMI capture card or capture device.
