In the 1960s and 70s the Bronx was infested by gangs. You had Puerto Rican gangs, Black gangs, White gangs in the north Bronx. You also had gangs that were mixed with Puerto Ricans and Blacks. A death of a certain individual who was called "Black Benji," who was part of the Ghetto brothers a predominantly Puerto Rican gang, prompted a peace treaty/gang truce. Out of that gang peace treaty everyone came together as one (Puerto Ricans and Blacks) which birthed the Hip Hop culture.
