Dark denim, the darker the better, has always been my preference. It’s SO HARD to find. I have been WAITING for it to come back around because I need the wash to be so dark blue it’s almost black. One of my favorite things is when the wash has those white threads faintly showing through so that the dark wash almost shines. It’s so much more dressy and tonally goes with more stuff that I own.
Totally understand your love for dark denim! I also appreciate how versatile it is. However, I tend to lean towards lighter washes for a more casual vibe. Maybe I should explore darker options like you do!!!😊
I've been incorporating more brown into my wardrobe nowadays. It's a pop of color (it's not gray or black) and not so loud but subtle. It also compliments my skin tone better than stone beige🙂

Finding out that I am a soft summer in my coloring which means I look better in the cooler version of colors was life changing - and I'm not being dramatic! I can finally wear brown now as long as it's blue or gray in its undertones - That's just one bonus - this has changed my whole outlook on dressing - glad to hear you mention it!
@@MissBabalu102 I struggled with that too - then I researched the 16 part color season wheel and paid attention to the colors in each. Basically, summer and winter colors have cooler undertones (blues and greys) while Autmn and Spring have warmer undertones (orange and yellow maybe?). And most fall into 1-2 categories - Like I fall mostly into soft summer and next soft winter. There's more to it, but watch a few videos on it and it will help to clear it up for you. I have always loved brown - but I always went towards the warmer (red/orange untertoned browns) so I assumed I looked terrible in all brown - then I realized I am a cool undertone (from researching it) and tried cooler browns and now brown is one of my best colors as long as it's the cool version -- I even gave away all of my warmer undertoned clothes because I looked terrible in them! possibly Bethany could describe it more clearly? @Joanne....I bought the longer version of the field coat from LLBean about 30 years ago and it still looks brand new! I recently checked and unfortunately they stopped making the longer one. Also, I STILL get compliments every time I wear it💖 excellent purchase!!!
I bought two beautiful brown sweaters, a long brown wool coat, brown kitten heel booties, and brown jeans this fall,/winter. Am loving the brown trend. Brown goes beautifully with red. Love dark denim as well.

Being a muted autumn that leans more true (finding this out in my colour analysis I did this past year, Jan) is the most elating thing!! I thought I had to be at least neutral-cool in underdone, so when I was told I’m actually Neutral-Warm, it was the best feeling. I’ve loved all the fall colours the most, and especially the autumnal shades of like, earthy neutrals: (mossy greys, literally every single shade of brown, beige, cream, coppery pinks and mauves, plus the fall foliage colours) is the most amazing and exciting thing to me!! I’ve been so happy trying to modify my wardrobe to this- thank you Bethany for all your inspiration and help on this!
I have the J Crew trouser jeans. They are my most worn and most complimented jean. They have a nice drape which I haven’t found in other jeans. As far as brown as a winter, unless it’s a almost black brown, does me no favors. While I love barn jackets they are always earth toned or have an earthy colored collar.
I’ve been waiting for brown to come back. It’s one of my favorite neutrals. I’m a redhead and brown is gorgeous for me. I like it with black, navy, camel, cream, olive, red, orange, and purple.

I love dark denim jeans but the last time they were in I got into my boyfriends Escalade with the lightest tan leather seats imaginable and I stained the passenger seat just from getting in and out a few times. 😵💫 So be aware of dark denim and what you’re sitting on.
Great video, Bethany! I just invested in 4 out of the 5 "trends" you mentioned ( went with chunky gold vs the mixed metal one)...and you're right, barn jackets do lean into Academia quite nicely- they too need re-waxing periodically though ( like the Halley Stevensons one).

It is so helpful that you provide items at different price points. I too am embracing brown. I recently purchased a lovely pair of brown suede ankle boots. I also have a couple of brown cashmere sweaters and a brown ribbed tee. What sweater are you wearing? I recently ordered and received a black cashmere cardigan very similar to yours and it runs a bit large for my petite stature, but I think I like the look on me because it is a properly cropped length. The sleeves are the largest part of the sweater. Thank you for this video.
