When Brain attacked with his Martial Art, Shaltear asked him "Maybe you can't use Martial Arts?" then he attacked wildly at her without Martial Arts and she asked him "Was that a Martial Art?". She literally couldn't tell the difference between the two attacks. "I can't tell the difference between a millimeter or two."
just a little perspective😊 AINS is level 100, right? the guardians, including SEBAS are all level 100 too & the battlemaids are at level 80... in this new world! the strongest are adamantine level warrior, some youve already seen in season 1; clementine, brain & stronoff ... they're around level 30 ...
Completely blocking an attack requires you to match the force behind the attack, like taking a strong grounded stance and making your body rigid to resist the impact. Deflecting attacks is much easier and efficient, because the force needed to push an attack aside instead of stopping it in its tracks is so much less. Stopping an attack from behind, when you are in front of the strike, is damn near impossible. Momentum works against you, and you can't brace towards something you are trying to pull away from yourself. Brain realised this too, and its what shows him that he is hopelessly - hilariously - outmatched.
The are 2 things I like about you guys are: 1) The best, your speculations and real reactions to what you are watching. This creates an atmosphere where I feel like I'm watching it with my friends. 2) Your focus. In Shaltear's defense, their mission is actually covert ( stealth information gathering &kidnapping if necessary) and being attacked by random bandits who planned to rob (and rape them) she thought she was just killing a bunch of trash bandits with no skill just for fun with the exception of katana dude, but in her eyes when Ainz talked about martial arts she had far higher expectations in terms of power to at least put her on edge, so she deemed the guy worthless cuz nobody THAT WEAK could ever teach Ainz anything.
@@YaBoyRockLee Not to mention, i don't remember Ainz giving her and her entourage the order not to kill, only to keep it covert(Aka, no witnesses) Brain ran and there was parts of a team left hidden in the forest, thus fearing punishment she gave chase. Lil explanation: Shalltear's lamprey monster (Edit: True Vampire) form is caused by her vampire racial trait "Blood Frenzy". In the new world this trait is almost a pure de-buff that causes Shalltear to go into a unintelligent rage. Should Shalltear kill too much or let herself be consumed by her rage/bloodlust she will go into her (Edit: True Vampire) Blood Frenzy state. (Edit: In the game this skill gave a slight power boost for these kills with the downside of lowered intelligence. So it could be considered both a positive and negative trait. But in the new world the Pro's don't outweigh the Con's) The potion was a healing potion. Undead are harmed by normal healing potions which are filled with "positive energy". Instead undead heal with "Negative energy" we saw this in action from last episode when the Skeleton dragon was healed with negative energy. Very easy to miss though.
@@GTBAnime It's my and others interpretation of the trait. In Yggdrasil it was a passive skill that empowers her as she kills, with the downside of Intelligence loss. However in the new world the downsides of losing ones rationality far out ways the benefits of a slight stat boost. In a game, especially as a npc, Shalltear's intelligence loss wouldn't mean anything, but in the real world it is a huge deal as it affects her decision making process. Therefore overall it's a negative trait, especially since its mentioned in the LN how Shalltear later goes out of her way to avoid activating it. Yes you are correct, nowhere does it say verbatim that the trait was a "Debuff" but I think that's an easy interpretation of the skill so long as you are considering the New World. But I'll edit my original comment to mention the slight power boost. Since I had to refresh my memory about the subject.

@@deusvermiculus1072 SOME SPOILERS UP AHEAD . . . . True i guess, but that's only assuming Shalltear is facing foes weaker than her. Now as we know the New world is under leveled compared to Nazarick so that's likely to be true most of the time. Although who knows for sure what will happen as we get to the finale. So I'll concede to you Blood Frenzy does have a use. BUT If Shalltear were to face an equal or group of semi equal foes, the winner will be the most rational and Intelligent one. In Overlord fights are mostly predetermined as Nazarick fights intelligently. Ainz was an off meta player and had to fight smart and dirty to win against top tier meta players. The Author Murayama rewards these types of fights. Either ones power is overwhelming enough to win by default, or specifically counter the opponent, or one has the intellect and resources to win. As such in a equal battle Blood Frenzy is a negative. Plus there are more social/Nazarick policy reasons its a negative: Throughout the novels Nazarick has been operating very carefully. Their extreme caution in the beginning and later with the carefully laid out plans to subdue and control the other nations around them are examples of this. The guardians throughout the entire series are mostly used as surgical tools and operators to guide things to go towards Nazarick's goals. A guardian who can't be trusted to be delicate and "surgical" isn't as useful. At least in Demiurge & Albedo's eyes. Its not like Nazarick is lacking in force either. This is part of why we see Shalltear depressed in season 2. Demiurge had lost faith in Shalltears abilities as he thought her careless and unreliable. For a guardian this is unacceptable in his eyes. He put her on the backlines in his demon invasion because he didn't trust her to not ruin his plans. From here on in the novels we see how Shalltear avoids activating blood frenzy. For a group of monsters worshiping "The Pillar of intellect Susuga Ainz-sama!" losing your reason isn't a desirable trait.
@@deusvermiculus1072 The real problem with the bloodlust is that it's a buff that increases her attack power for a loss of intelligence Exactly when intelligence, not power, is most useful. Specifically... to activate it, she has to kill a bunch of things.. ie scrubs that she can already murder without the buff, but if she's fighting someone powerful where the extra power might just be more useful than a bit of thinking power (rare as that is, it could happen), unless the challenger brought some mobs to murder to trigger bloodlust.... the buff wont trigger in the one use case where using it would potentially be beneficial.
10:19 Shalltear likes to abuse anyone (even sexually) who is serving her. Shalltear's crazy form is her blood frenzy. When a lot of blood fills up her blood ball she goes crazy but cant really control herself at that point. Also poor Brain he trained his whole life gave everything he had in order to become stronger and after losing to Gazef got even more devoted and then he met Shalltear and all of his hopes and dreams were shatteted.. 20:45 Brain is a very good martial arts user around Gazef's level, but to Shalltear this is nothing so wether or not he fights using martial arts doesnt really make a difference to her. 24:06 It was a healing potion, but since Shalltear is undead healing potions have a negative effect on her. 25:36 The red colour on the name means that a 3rd party has mind controled her and turned her into an enemy, Ainz says that when he sees the colour. Yeah its crazy the difference in the amount of info between the show and the books. For reference they do 3 books a season, just the timespan between the start and Ains fighting the people with the angels in the village was one entire novel. If you were still wondering, the reason Nabe was holding back against Khajit was because Ains had told her to take the persona of the adventurer who could only use tier 5 magic and she was going to follow his orders even if it meant she died despite being easily able to win if she fought seriously. Since she couldn’t beat the dragon with tier 5 magic she resorted to trying to beat it to death. When he shouted her real name and told her to show them the power of Nazarick he was saying she could fight as herself instead of the character she was playing
The best thing about overlord is that even though you know that they are so much stronger it always finds a way to make it seem like there. Sometimes you want the underdogs to survive, sometimes you just want to see them dunk on a unlikable character, and sometimes something else. However it always keeps you on edge. Especially in the LN (NO SPOILERS IN THIS COMMENT) there is always some doubt, fear of something falling into the gears of nazarics plan. This is what separates overlord from other isekais. Also the author NEVER forgets anything. There was a case of foreshadowing from book 2 (half of the first season) that was mentioned in a book 10 (unanimated just after Sezon 3) that was mentioned only to show that "wait for it. I remember and intend to do something with it".
You're very right...I enjoy that as well. Even Ainz plans being ruined is stressful to me ha. Also realized literally everything they say is important.
Yeah it's less about "can we overcome this strong opponent" to moreof "tactically whats the best way to approach this situation to get maximum benefit". I guess you could imagine that its like Poker. When you have a good hand you want to play it to get the most amount of money out of your opponent, and Ains has the best hand around.
Brain did marshel art. But Shelthear couldn't notice it because of her streanght. Thats why she said she only knows the different in meters and not mm. :) And of her character she has a penalty as a strong vampire so she goes in to blood frenzy which she can't Control. Also fun fact Solution is a slime and she can keep a lot of things inside of her in several compartmens. And she can keep them alive for a long time. Slowly disolving them inside of her. Because she likes them to suffer. ;)
Shalltear's Blood Pool skill drains MP from a victim so she can use it's mana instead of her own. Brain was once a normal farmer until he figured out he had a Talent that made him an extremely good swordsman. Gazef handed him his first loss, and since then, Brain resolved to win in a rematch and abandoned everything to pursue martial strength. However, being defeated by Shalltear completely destroyed his spirit. Brain sunk into really deep despair upon realizing that all his training was a waste of time. He didn't lose to Shalltear in the cave, he lost to her before he was even born.
Fun fact : Shalltear's allies are monsters called "vampire's brides". As their name implied, they are lesser vampires serving as concubines. As said in the novel, they are Shalltear's concubines (she loves women and undeads/Ainz). Also, Solution is a slime. Absorbing people is her way to eat (her victims suffer horribly being digested inside her for hours).
Shaltear did go in blood lust mode when she went all bezerker mode. Also the 2 moves that brain used was not all that he could use but they are the best he had.
At 17:41 he was getting cautious because there is an npc at nazarick that will be unstoppable(if she has World Class Item) if she gets turned by the enemy.
Just recently found your channel due to Overlord, as it is one of my favourite Anime, and the first one that got me into Light Novels. Absolutely loving your reactions, and looking forward to watching more :-) So a few things missing out of the episode that is in the Light Novel but won't be covered in future episodes so isn't a spoiler. Solution the maid is a High level slime as you guessed, she is able too keep multiple things within her including living creatures which she can dissolve over time, and can pick how long it takes to increase her pleasure. Brain is one of the best swordsman in the Kingdom, as it said he went one on one with Gazef and only just lost, since then he travelled learning new skills in order to beat him in the future, and the blade he uses is also magic to increase his strength. Losing basically broke him, as he thought he was at the height of strength that can be achieved, but won't go into more as it verges on spoilers. Shalltear when in the form you saw is suffering from a type of blood frenzy, it is sort of a handicap from the build she was given when built in the original game, while she knows who she is, she finds it hard to resist her instincts so isn't as logical in battle, thus the running head first into that fight. The red head adventurer who was under mind control was dismissed before Shallltear went into battle with the others and ordered to forget her conversation if I remember correctly, but has been awhile since I last read the book. Won't go into anymore as it goes into spoilers :-) Thanks again for the great reactions
Okay I'm gonna do some live commenting and signify timestamps around 5:30 yes it is past and the cool thing is in ep 8 there is a certain background detail that ovelaps what is going in this episode. 7:00 mark you can see the NPCs remember things happening between the Guild members if they were present for it, in LN Shaltear mentiones Peroroncino had "convulsions" while dressing her up. 8:55 the Vampire Bride specifically says "there is a man named Brain who can use martial arts" 10:20 Brain names himself Shaltear proves she's an airhead and doesn't remember two people telling her he's the man to take. 18:45 close on the speculations here, her mission was supposed to be secret so anyone getting away with information on this operation is a no-no. She took it as an allowance to go crazy on these fools but the universe decided to be cruel with certain other group being in the area completely by coincidence.
At 20:12 No, only the martial artist's life is important. actually,the only importance of the martial arrist is to have a sample to test the strength of the people of the new world. Now, shalltear's mistake is letting brain and the archer go, worse brain got her name and a little bit of her strength(that's info on nazarick. Momonga was afraid other guilds were sent to this world too.) . The archer got information that there is a strong vampire in the area.

let me clarify some part: you got it right about the potion. undead are weak to healing magic, and thrive with negative energy. Sebas actually not a floor guardians like shalltear. he's the head butler of nazarick who leads the battle maids. However, that doesn't make him weak, in term of strength the tier list goes: Mare, Shalltear, sebas > cocytus > albedo > sebas, Aura, and Demiurge Sebas is just being polite by calling shallter in a proper manner when really shalltear already acknowledge Sebas' strength is equal that of a guardian. btw Sebas is a dragonoid, half man/half dragon, who has a second form we haven't seen yet, but it's powerful. Solution Epsilon is a slime, but a special type called a Shoggoth, a type of slime from the Cthulu mythos. she has a fetish for "playing" with her food, solution size is disproportionate to what's inside her body, she can store anything from items to full grown human, that man who got suck in solution will spend the next week or so being slowly dissolved at Solution's pleasure. and it's not all at once, she can choose where to start and how much she want to hurt him. being inside solution is like being waterboarded while having sleep paralysis, you can't move and you feel like you're being suffocated without dying.
Abaut power lvls of the guardians. Aure and Mare are off the list, cuz first of all they always work together, second Aura is litteraly 1 elf army bossfight (she have over 200 beasts under her direct comand), and Mare is straight up magic caster, so he can be everywhere Gargantua, guardian of 4th floor is off the list for obvious reasons. And the list goes: Shalltear is more powerfull than anyone else, she is 1v1 optymized killing machine. Even wihout gear she was more powerfull than most of PLAYERS. After that we have Rock Paper Scizors situation. Where Albedo is a Tank, and beats Sebas, cuz he just can't break her awesome defence. Sebas is "the balanced one" and beat cocaytus cuz he is tanky enough to survive his attacks, and have strong enough punch to break his weak defence. And cocaytus beats Albedo, cuz with his 4 arms and radicoulous attack power he can overwhelm her. (That only includes basic forms, wihout outside power ups). After we have Demiurge, who is very weak in 1v1 fight and in "fair duel" wouln't have time to summon his demons. And at the very end Victim cuz he is straight up useless in 1v1 scenario. Oh and on top of everyting, outside of any ranking we have Albedos sister. Hidden deep in 8th floor she is a ultimate weapon. Even Touch Me, the strongest player in the entire game had 0 chance to win. But thats only expected if NPC is created by the ultimate power of 1-time use Wold Class Item
The light novel is quite heavy on expositions, inner monologues and details that I estimate they can make 6 episodes out of each volume instead of 4-5 they commonly used. Episode 5-9 is volume 2 and it's nearly complete in details and may just need 1 more episode to put it all in. By the pages of recent volumes, particularly volume 12 ,13 and the new 14, they can occupy a 12-13 episode season all by just 2 of them by the standard the studio omitting some details without breaking the plot. Much has been explained in the light novel that many readers had been reading between the lines that became hints for months of speculations of later possible volume events when the current volume was published. There was this twist the author tried to hide and be revealed in volume 10 which would be in the unreleased season 4 but the readers read it too deep that they figure it out since volume 5. Comment sections of Overlord wikia pages did have some long discussions and debates. Fans can get out of control and throw in too much information that some spoiler might fly in particularly when the discussion got too deep.

you are right about the healing potion. Healing potions can damage the undead, they need negative energy instead to recover hp ( you can see an example in the fight nabe vs skeleton dragon, khajit uses ray of negative energy and the dragon heals)
They cut a lot of the brutality out of the Anime as well. Solution is a Slime monster, she can change how corrosive her slime is at will. In the LN it explains that she essentially kept Zach alive inside of her, melting him over days. Nazarick doesn't fuck around
The group that attacked shalltear is the Black scripture of Slane theocracy.. it was purely coincidence that they encounter shalltear.. The group was actually looking for Catastrophe Dragon Lord.. because Slane theocracy believed CDL has been revived because of what happened to Nigun of Sunlight Scripture(the group that ainz wrecked on episode 4) and also they were countered attacked aggressively on their surveillance during that time.. this is all because of Ainz's actions.. (sorry for bad english)

@@YaBoyRockLee yeah, reviewing the episode let you make sense of some vague shit and stuff. Good on you. Just some thing are very subtle. i.e. not explicitly said or cut out from the og novel. I suspect many here are more enlightened than me on overlord lore, they have discord and reddit discussing so many things and can offer much more insight than me.
brain was using martial arts but like shalltear said, she can't tell the difference between millimeters so she's wondering if he's using martial arts or not. shalltear's orders were to find a martial artist and basically lay low, she had to chase after that escaped scout or her cover would've been blown but unfortunately that's when she clashed with the group that made her "revolt".
Shaltear is also kind of a dumbass because the name Brain Unglaus was mentioned in her presence multiple times as THE WARRIOR and she just didn't pay attention because she finds remembering names from outside Nazarick as a waste of time.
It is not just novels. The web novel that was the proto type for Overlord was an outlet for the author as he was missing D&D and so there is a lot of assumed D&D knowledge!
Finally someone realize that Shalltear got Brain's sword from the other side,it shows how much she is stronger than Brain who is at the peak of humanity in this world.

Watching for first time (overlord). And as I did some searching, it appears no-one noticed the suden ability to summon a NPC pop-up menu ? It was the 1st thing he wasn't able to do in the new world 🤷♂️ and suddenly he can ???
sebas is a head butler pretty much the current head of the pleades maids (guardians are the highest in NPC ranking putting albedo at peak for being their leader) Solution is a predator slime so yea i get what your at Shalltear talking about she cant even tell the difference between 1-2 milliliter is about she is actuallylooking for someone who knows martial arts (since its not in yggdrasil) and brain unglaus used it but shalltear is too powerful that she didnt notice the martial art being used also shalltearhasa passive ability called "BLOODFRENZY" it pushes her into maximum bloodlust nearly out of control so yea she has a tendency to lose her reasoning temporarily and just go wild
If she didn't use the purifying lance then she would be have been under their control but as the person who casted the world level item got wounded she is stuck in a limbo till she is attacked. Also the people who attacked her wouldn't have been able to kill her as she is so powerful. Get ready for the next 3 episodes they are very good and we get to see potentially the best character Pandora's Actor.
to be fair, shaltear is lvl 100 and brain is like lvl 30. Pretty much the hightest people in the world are level 30 or 40. all ainz's floor bosses and himself are level 100. they are waaaay op for this world. Just think how that would work out fighting a lvl 100 monster when you are level 30 in a video game. you would do 0 damage and take 999999 damage from one hit. oh and you have like 300 hp :D
Brain called out Shalltear for being arrogant over her power when there are those much stronger than her... than he was dumbfounded when he realized he was guilty of that same thing he accused her of and ran in absolute horror. Brilliant!

Just in case no one has told you yet, Nabe was holding back. You may remember a couple of episodes ago Momon said that Nabe can cast third tier magic. As part of their disguise, he told Nabe not to cast any spell higher than third tier. Nabe can actually cast up to 8th tier magic. When Ainz told her to go old out it was game over.

Morning after uploade...or middle of the night from your perspective...ehhh timezones...HERE I AM with some LN/hidden info...mostly LN tho More at the matter later, cuz of very minor spoilers but some fun things from the episode: 1) The first strike she catched with 2 fingers is basicly cheat lvl move in new world. Attack itself is "light speed", and the zone makes every strike 100% accurate 2) The red potion was a healing potion. Potions are basicly "liquified spells", and healing spells are the strongest dmging moves against undead. Well every holy spell in, but heals are just stronger 3) The bandits shalltear slothered had some girls hidden in one of the side rooms, the ginger girl was thrown there 4) Sebas position among other guardians is "thats complicated". Technicly he isn't even area guardian, so far below anything, BUT he is lvl 100, optymized for combad by Lord Touch Me (the strongest player not only in the guild, but in the entire game, back when it was a game), his "in-game" role, was being the last lane of deffence as a leader of Battle Maids before throne room, and in "lore" role he is superior of all servants=maids etc. So something simular to Albedo, who is superior to all guardians, or something like guardian of 9 floor, or even both Superior Ones floors, depending if you count Albedo as guardian of 10th (Abaut that, as you know Nazarick is basicly the unconquerable fortress, back in the day they wiped out 1500 players+NPC invasion, its 10 floors+1 "hidden floor". First 8 are basicly one HUGE DEATHTRAP, when 9 and 10 are private chambers of Supreme Ones, so there are little to none defences..."litle to none" still means that just before throne room the chandelier is made of high tier spell crystals, with enough fire power to wipe out 2 partys (6ppl each) of lvl 100 players, on top of spawning all 4 Primal Elementals) Deam I went off topic...again...so ending this point. "Private" and in power lvl Sebas is full out Floor Guardian. "During work" he is "outside the box" and a little bit below other Floor Guardians, but above everything else, so technicly they can't order him to do something, but they world have higher power...its complicated...and in "Anything official" he just never took place, and probably never will. 5) ANIME NEVER TELLS ANYTHING ABAUT IT, BUT IT CAN BE SPOILER...FOR SEASON 5 (and we have only 3 recorded, and 4th is only rumors atm) This group Shalltear bumped into at the end is Black Scripture. They are the most elite fighting force in existance (outside of Nazarick of course). Every single one of them can wihout much effort conquer a city solo, and the stronger among them entire country. That one guy she send flying SURVIVED IT. To be more precise HE WAS ABLE TO FIGHT. After tanking direct hit by super enraged Shalltear, with her Divine Class Weapon. So yea, after you have seen what she does bare handed this puts it on a scale. Oh and leader, and vce-leader are demigods. Oh and one of them is hinted to be product demigod+demigon. Answer yourself for what it gives 25% chances. Its simple biology. Not confirmed tho. 6) And now everyones favourite subsection: SHALTEAR FACTS! -The orb of blood that was seen over her head is "Blood Pool". This stores all the blood of her victims, and can be used as mana -Her "monster form" is how she would always look like if Lord Peroronchino wasn't the most cultured bird ever -That frenzy mode is one of her passive skills, and its a dubble edged sword. If she had too much blood spilled on her it activates. It doubles or even quadriples her DPS, but at the cost of some defence, and back in the game it was impossible to controll her, and in new world she have this red-white vision, the more insane she gets the more blurry and bright it gets...I'm pretty sure there was scene from her PoV with only white figures standing at red background, but I think you cutted it off. And on top of that its compleate Berserk Mode. It is possible for her to control herself in that state, but very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very hard, and more into berserk more "very" stacks you add -Deam I would love to explain every smallest detail of this super short fight scene at the end, but it would spoil next spisode, so I have to hold myself back. Sebas position it's not that complicated. He is one of the leader of Pleiades, *The Head Butler* of Nazarick. While Yuri is vice leader of Pleiades. Yes, Pleiades is under Sebas command and have another leader (the name will be mention in season 2) that really *The Leader of the Sisters* . So, regarding his status, he is below floor guardian. But regarding power, he is on par of floor guardian, especially have *Rock - Paper - Scissors* term of strength with Albedo and Cocytus.

Lets say, this noble house have a *House Owner* , *Head Butler* , and *General/Leader of Soldier* (some sort of leader of the noble family to protect them). In term of status, *House Owner* will be number one, *General/Leader of Soldier* will be number two, and *Head Butler* will be number three. But in term of order, number 2 can't order number 3 even tho they have high status and most of them usually from noble family too that work for that families for generations, because number 3 works under *House Owner* . Number 3 can order number 2 if the number 1 order him (and the way around). Thats why I said, its not that complicated. This system applies on Nazarick. Ainz is the House Owner, Floor Guardians is the General of the Nazarick, and Sebas is the Head Butler. That's what I can concludes from reading a lot of the story that have drama in noble house. LOL

If by nuts you mean trash, yeah. You gotta really dislike Overlord if you like it. Or just storytelling in general. Only thing s3 does i spoil the novel. All the epic moments, all the cool moments. It was treated like trash, and it was supposed to have some of the best moments. Which ended up being just hilarious and comedic due to how badly they were done. Amateurs do better work. Broken very low quality 3d models with stretched broken textures. "Animations" that consist of jerking the character up and down. Cutting countless things even in scenes that made it in, in order to cut as much as humanly possible from production, leading to very poor and inaccurate adaptation of the novel. Even in dialogues at times. It should be highly embarrassing for a pro studio to release anything nearly as bad. And it's a kick in the face of Overlord and people who care about it. Beyond being X brand you attached to, ready to swallow anything with the brand name regardless of how messed it is.
The old lady from slane theocracy use a world item (mind control) towards shalltear but got kill by her before she able to control the victim(shalltear). one more thing is the player who transform into dragon was coincidently meet shalltear and try to defeat her but he cant due she was powerful.it prove he has to use his full power dragon form but still lose.

When Brain attacked with his Martial Art, Shaltear asked him "Maybe you can't use Martial Arts?" then he attacked wildly at her without Martial Arts and she asked him "Was that a Martial Art?". She literally couldn't tell the difference between the two attacks. "I can't tell the difference between a millimeter or two."

Completely blocking an attack requires you to match the force behind the attack, like taking a strong grounded stance and making your body rigid to resist the impact. Deflecting attacks is much easier and efficient, because the force needed to push an attack aside instead of stopping it in its tracks is so much less. Stopping an attack from behind, when you are in front of the strike, is damn near impossible. Momentum works against you, and you can't brace towards something you are trying to pull away from yourself. Brain realised this too, and its what shows him that he is hopelessly - hilariously - outmatched.

In Shaltear's defense, their mission is actually covert ( stealth information gathering &kidnapping if necessary) and being attacked by random bandits who planned to rob (and rape them) she thought she was just killing a bunch of trash bandits with no skill just for fun with the exception of katana dude, but in her eyes when Ainz talked about martial arts she had far higher expectations in terms of power to at least put her on edge, so she deemed the guy worthless cuz nobody THAT WEAK could ever teach Ainz anything.

Lil explanation: Shalltear's lamprey monster (Edit: True Vampire) form is caused by her vampire racial trait "Blood Frenzy". In the new world this trait is almost a pure de-buff that causes Shalltear to go into a unintelligent rage. Should Shalltear kill too much or let herself be consumed by her rage/bloodlust she will go into her (Edit: True Vampire) Blood Frenzy state.
(Edit: In the game this skill gave a slight power boost for these kills with the downside of lowered intelligence. So it could be considered both a positive and negative trait. But in the new world the Pro's don't outweigh the Con's)
The potion was a healing potion. Undead are harmed by normal healing potions which are filled with "positive energy". Instead undead heal with "Negative energy" we saw this in action from last episode when the Skeleton dragon was healed with negative energy. Very easy to miss though.

@@GTBAnime It's my and others interpretation of the trait. In Yggdrasil it was a passive skill that empowers her as she kills, with the downside of Intelligence loss. However in the new world the downsides of losing ones rationality far out ways the benefits of a slight stat boost. In a game, especially as a npc, Shalltear's intelligence loss wouldn't mean anything, but in the real world it is a huge deal as it affects her decision making process. Therefore overall it's a negative trait, especially since its mentioned in the LN how Shalltear later goes out of her way to avoid activating it.
Yes you are correct, nowhere does it say verbatim that the trait was a "Debuff" but I think that's an easy interpretation of the skill so long as you are considering the New World.

True i guess, but that's only assuming Shalltear is facing foes weaker than her. Now as we know the New world is under leveled compared to Nazarick so that's likely to be true most of the time. Although who knows for sure what will happen as we get to the finale. So I'll concede to you Blood Frenzy does have a use.
BUT If Shalltear were to face an equal or group of semi equal foes, the winner will be the most rational and Intelligent one. In Overlord fights are mostly predetermined as Nazarick fights intelligently. Ainz was an off meta player and had to fight smart and dirty to win against top tier meta players. The Author Murayama rewards these types of fights. Either ones power is overwhelming enough to win by default, or specifically counter the opponent, or one has the intellect and resources to win. As such in a equal battle Blood Frenzy is a negative. Plus there are more social/Nazarick policy reasons its a negative:
Throughout the novels Nazarick has been operating very carefully. Their extreme caution in the beginning and later with the carefully laid out plans to subdue and control the other nations around them are examples of this. The guardians throughout the entire series are mostly used as surgical tools and operators to guide things to go towards Nazarick's goals. A guardian who can't be trusted to be delicate and "surgical" isn't as useful. At least in Demiurge & Albedo's eyes. Its not like Nazarick is lacking in force either.
This is part of why we see Shalltear depressed in season 2. Demiurge had lost faith in Shalltears abilities as he thought her careless and unreliable. For a guardian this is unacceptable in his eyes. He put her on the backlines in his demon invasion because he didn't trust her to not ruin his plans. From here on in the novels we see how Shalltear avoids activating blood frenzy. For a group of monsters worshiping "The Pillar of intellect Susuga Ainz-sama!" losing your reason isn't a desirable trait.
@@deusvermiculus1072 The real problem with the bloodlust is that it's a buff that increases her attack power for a loss of intelligence Exactly when intelligence, not power, is most useful. Specifically... to activate it, she has to kill a bunch of things.. ie scrubs that she can already murder without the buff, but if she's fighting someone powerful where the extra power might just be more useful than a bit of thinking power (rare as that is, it could happen), unless the challenger brought some mobs to murder to trigger bloodlust.... the buff wont trigger in the one use case where using it would potentially be beneficial.

Shalltear's crazy form is her blood frenzy. When a lot of blood fills up her blood ball she goes crazy but cant really control herself at that point. Also poor Brain he trained his whole life gave everything he had in order to become stronger and after losing to Gazef got even more devoted and then he met Shalltear and all of his hopes and dreams were shatteted..
20:45 Brain is a very good martial arts user around Gazef's level, but to Shalltear this is nothing so wether or not he fights using martial arts doesnt really make a difference to her.

Yeah its crazy the difference in the amount of info between the show and the books. For reference they do 3 books a season, just the timespan between the start and Ains fighting the people with the angels in the village was one entire novel.
If you were still wondering, the reason Nabe was holding back against Khajit was because Ains had told her to take the persona of the adventurer who could only use tier 5 magic and she was going to follow his orders even if it meant she died despite being easily able to win if she fought seriously. Since she couldn’t beat the dragon with tier 5 magic she resorted to trying to beat it to death. When he shouted her real name and told her to show them the power of Nazarick he was saying she could fight as herself instead of the character she was playing

The best thing about overlord is that even though you know that they are so much stronger it always finds a way to make it seem like there. Sometimes you want the underdogs to survive, sometimes you just want to see them dunk on a unlikable character, and sometimes something else. However it always keeps you on edge. Especially in the LN (NO SPOILERS IN THIS COMMENT) there is always some doubt, fear of something falling into the gears of nazarics plan. This is what separates overlord from other isekais. Also the author NEVER forgets anything. There was a case of foreshadowing from book 2 (half of the first season) that was mentioned in a book 10 (unanimated just after Sezon 3) that was mentioned only to show that "wait for it. I remember and intend to do something with it".

Yeah it's less about "can we overcome this strong opponent" to moreof "tactically whats the best way to approach this situation to get maximum benefit". I guess you could imagine that its like Poker. When you have a good hand you want to play it to get the most amount of money out of your opponent, and Ains has the best hand around.
Brain did marshel art. But Shelthear couldn't notice it because of her streanght. Thats why she said she only knows the different in meters and not mm. :) And of her character she has a penalty as a strong vampire so she goes in to blood frenzy which she can't Control. Also fun fact Solution is a slime and she can keep a lot of things inside of her in several compartmens. And she can keep them alive for a long time. Slowly disolving them inside of her. Because she likes them to suffer. ;)

Shalltear's Blood Pool skill drains MP from a victim so she can use it's mana instead of her own.
Brain was once a normal farmer until he figured out he had a Talent that made him an extremely good swordsman. Gazef handed him his first loss, and since then, Brain resolved to win in a rematch and abandoned everything to pursue martial strength.
However, being defeated by Shalltear completely destroyed his spirit. Brain sunk into really deep despair upon realizing that all his training was a waste of time. He didn't lose to Shalltear in the cave, he lost to her before he was even born.
There are two possible emotions to feel when watching this anime:
- Horror
- Arousal
Fun fact : Shalltear's allies are monsters called "vampire's brides". As their name implied, they are lesser vampires serving as concubines. As said in the novel, they are Shalltear's concubines (she loves women and undeads/Ainz).
Also, Solution is a slime. Absorbing people is her way to eat (her victims suffer horribly being digested inside her for hours).
Shaltear did go in blood lust mode when she went all bezerker mode. Also the 2 moves that brain used was not all that he could use but they are the best he had.

Just recently found your channel due to Overlord, as it is one of my favourite Anime, and the first one that got me into Light Novels.

So a few things missing out of the episode that is in the Light Novel but won't be covered in future episodes so isn't a spoiler.
Solution the maid is a High level slime as you guessed, she is able too keep multiple things within her including living creatures which she can dissolve over time, and can pick how long it takes to increase her pleasure.
Brain is one of the best swordsman in the Kingdom, as it said he went one on one with Gazef and only just lost, since then he travelled learning new skills in order to beat him in the future, and the blade he uses is also magic to increase his strength.
Losing basically broke him, as he thought he was at the height of strength that can be achieved, but won't go into more as it verges on spoilers.
Shalltear when in the form you saw is suffering from a type of blood frenzy, it is sort of a handicap from the build she was given when built in the original game, while she knows who she is, she finds it hard to resist her instincts so isn't as logical in battle, thus the running head first into that fight.
The red head adventurer who was under mind control was dismissed before Shallltear went into battle with the others and ordered to forget her conversation if I remember correctly, but has been awhile since I last read the book.

7:00 mark you can see the NPCs remember things happening between the Guild members if they were present for it, in LN Shaltear mentiones Peroroncino had "convulsions" while dressing her up.
8:55 the Vampire Bride specifically says "there is a man named Brain who can use martial arts"
10:20 Brain names himself Shaltear proves she's an airhead and doesn't remember two people telling her he's the man to take.
18:45 close on the speculations here, her mission was supposed to be secret so anyone getting away with information on this operation is a no-no. She took it as an allowance to go crazy on these fools but the universe decided to be cruel with certain other group being in the area completely by coincidence.
At 20:12 No, only the martial artist's life is important. actually,the only importance of the martial arrist is to have a sample to test the strength of the people of the new world. Now, shalltear's mistake is letting brain and the archer go, worse brain got her name and a little bit of her strength(that's info on nazarick. Momonga was afraid other guilds were sent to this world too.) . The archer got information that there is a strong vampire in the area.

let me clarify some part:
you got it right about the potion. undead are weak to healing magic, and thrive with negative energy.
Sebas actually not a floor guardians like shalltear. he's the head butler of nazarick who leads the battle maids. However, that doesn't make him weak, in term of strength the tier list goes: Mare, Shalltear, sebas > cocytus > albedo > sebas, Aura, and Demiurge
Sebas is just being polite by calling shallter in a proper manner when really shalltear already acknowledge Sebas' strength is equal that of a guardian.
btw Sebas is a dragonoid, half man/half dragon, who has a second form we haven't seen yet, but it's powerful. Solution Epsilon is a slime, but a special type called a Shoggoth, a type of slime from the Cthulu mythos. she has a fetish for "playing" with her food, solution size is disproportionate to what's inside her body, she can store anything from items to full grown human, that man who got suck in solution will spend the next week or so being slowly dissolved at Solution's pleasure. and it's not all at once, she can choose where to start and how much she want to hurt him. being inside solution is like being waterboarded while having sleep paralysis, you can't move and you feel like you're being suffocated without dying.
Abaut power lvls of the guardians. Aure and Mare are off the list, cuz first of all they always work together, second Aura is litteraly 1 elf army bossfight (she have over 200 beasts under her direct comand), and Mare is straight up magic caster, so he can be everywhere Gargantua, guardian of 4th floor is off the list for obvious reasons. And the list goes: Shalltear is more powerfull than anyone else, she is 1v1 optymized killing machine. Even wihout gear she was more powerfull than most of PLAYERS. After that we have Rock Paper Scizors situation. Where Albedo is a Tank, and beats Sebas, cuz he just can't break her awesome defence. Sebas is "the balanced one" and beat cocaytus cuz he is tanky enough to survive his attacks, and have strong enough punch to break his weak defence. And cocaytus beats Albedo, cuz with his 4 arms and radicoulous attack power he can overwhelm her. (That only includes basic forms, wihout outside power ups). After we have Demiurge, who is very weak in 1v1 fight and in "fair duel" wouln't have time to summon his demons. And at the very end Victim cuz he is straight up useless in 1v1 scenario.
Oh and on top of everyting, outside of any ranking we have Albedos sister. Hidden deep in 8th floor she is a ultimate weapon. Even Touch Me, the strongest player in the entire game had 0 chance to win. But thats only expected if NPC is created by the ultimate power of 1-time use Wold Class Item
The light novel is quite heavy on expositions, inner monologues and details that I estimate they can make 6 episodes out of each volume instead of 4-5 they commonly used. Episode 5-9 is volume 2 and it's nearly complete in details and may just need 1 more episode to put it all in. By the pages of recent volumes, particularly volume 12 ,13 and the new 14, they can occupy a 12-13 episode season all by just 2 of them by the standard the studio omitting some details without breaking the plot. Much has been explained in the light novel that many readers had been reading between the lines that became hints for months of speculations of later possible volume events when the current volume was published. There was this twist the author tried to hide and be revealed in volume 10 which would be in the unreleased season 4 but the readers read it too deep that they figure it out since volume 5. Comment sections of Overlord wikia pages did have some long discussions and debates. Fans can get out of control and throw in too much information that some spoiler might fly in particularly when the discussion got too deep.

you are right about the healing potion. Healing potions can damage the undead, they need negative energy instead to recover hp ( you can see an example in the fight nabe vs skeleton dragon, khajit uses ray of negative energy and the dragon heals)
They cut a lot of the brutality out of the Anime as well. Solution is a Slime monster, she can change how corrosive her slime is at will. In the LN it explains that she essentially kept Zach alive inside of her, melting him over days. Nazarick doesn't fuck around
The group that attacked shalltear is the Black scripture of Slane theocracy.. it was purely coincidence that they encounter shalltear.. The group was actually looking for Catastrophe Dragon Lord.. because Slane theocracy believed CDL has been revived because of what happened to Nigun of Sunlight Scripture(the group that ainz wrecked on episode 4) and also they were countered attacked aggressively on their surveillance during that time.. this is all because of Ainz's actions.. (sorry for bad english)

shalltear's orders were to find a martial artist and basically lay low, she had to chase after that escaped scout or her cover would've been blown but unfortunately that's when she clashed with the group that made her "revolt".
Shaltear is also kind of a dumbass because the name Brain Unglaus was mentioned in her presence multiple times as THE WARRIOR and she just didn't pay attention because she finds remembering names from outside Nazarick as a waste of time.
It is not just novels. The web novel that was the proto type for Overlord was an outlet for the author as he was missing D&D and so there is a lot of assumed D&D knowledge!

If she didn't use the purifying lance then she would be have been under their control but as the person who casted the world level item got wounded she is stuck in a limbo till she is attacked. Also the people who attacked her wouldn't have been able to kill her as she is so powerful. Get ready for the next 3 episodes they are very good and we get to see potentially the best character Pandora's Actor.

to be fair, shaltear is lvl 100 and brain is like lvl 30. Pretty much the hightest people in the world are level 30 or 40. all ainz's floor bosses and himself are level 100. they are waaaay op for this world.
Just think how that would work out fighting a lvl 100 monster when you are level 30 in a video game. you would do 0 damage and take 999999 damage from one hit. oh and you have like 300 hp :D

Just in case no one has told you yet, Nabe was holding back. You may remember a couple of episodes ago Momon said that Nabe can cast third tier magic. As part of their disguise, he told Nabe not to cast any spell higher than third tier. Nabe can actually cast up to 8th tier magic. When Ainz told her to go old out it was game over.

More at the matter later, cuz of very minor spoilers but some fun things from the episode:
1) The first strike she catched with 2 fingers is basicly cheat lvl move in new world. Attack itself is "light speed", and the zone makes every strike 100% accurate
2) The red potion was a healing potion. Potions are basicly "liquified spells", and healing spells are the strongest dmging moves against undead. Well every holy spell in, but heals are just stronger
3) The bandits shalltear slothered had some girls hidden in one of the side rooms, the ginger girl was thrown there
4) Sebas position among other guardians is "thats complicated". Technicly he isn't even area guardian, so far below anything, BUT he is lvl 100, optymized for combad by Lord Touch Me (the strongest player not only in the guild, but in the entire game, back when it was a game), his "in-game" role, was being the last lane of deffence as a leader of Battle Maids before throne room, and in "lore" role he is superior of all servants=maids etc. So something simular to Albedo, who is superior to all guardians, or something like guardian of 9 floor, or even both Superior Ones floors, depending if you count Albedo as guardian of 10th (Abaut that, as you know Nazarick is basicly the unconquerable fortress, back in the day they wiped out 1500 players+NPC invasion, its 10 floors+1 "hidden floor". First 8 are basicly one HUGE DEATHTRAP, when 9 and 10 are private chambers of Supreme Ones, so there are little to none defences..."litle to none" still means that just before throne room the chandelier is made of high tier spell crystals, with enough fire power to wipe out 2 partys (6ppl each) of lvl 100 players, on top of spawning all 4 Primal Elementals) Deam I went off topic...again...so ending this point. "Private" and in power lvl Sebas is full out Floor Guardian. "During work" he is "outside the box" and a little bit below other Floor Guardians, but above everything else, so technicly they can't order him to do something, but they world have higher power...its complicated...and in "Anything official" he just never took place, and probably never will.
5) ANIME NEVER TELLS ANYTHING ABAUT IT, BUT IT CAN BE SPOILER...FOR SEASON 5 (and we have only 3 recorded, and 4th is only rumors atm) This group Shalltear bumped into at the end is Black Scripture. They are the most elite fighting force in existance (outside of Nazarick of course). Every single one of them can wihout much effort conquer a city solo, and the stronger among them entire country. That one guy she send flying SURVIVED IT. To be more precise HE WAS ABLE TO FIGHT. After tanking direct hit by super enraged Shalltear, with her Divine Class Weapon. So yea, after you have seen what she does bare handed this puts it on a scale. Oh and leader, and vce-leader are demigods. Oh and one of them is hinted to be product demigod+demigon. Answer yourself for what it gives 25% chances. Its simple biology. Not confirmed tho.
6) And now everyones favourite subsection: SHALTEAR FACTS!
-The orb of blood that was seen over her head is "Blood Pool". This stores all the blood of her victims, and can be used as mana
-Her "monster form" is how she would always look like if Lord Peroronchino wasn't the most cultured bird ever
-That frenzy mode is one of her passive skills, and its a dubble edged sword. If she had too much blood spilled on her it activates. It doubles or even quadriples her DPS, but at the cost of some defence, and back in the game it was impossible to controll her, and in new world she have this red-white vision, the more insane she gets the more blurry and bright it gets...I'm pretty sure there was scene from her PoV with only white figures standing at red background, but I think you cutted it off. And on top of that its compleate Berserk Mode. It is possible for her to control herself in that state, but very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very hard, and more into berserk more "very" stacks you add

Sebas position it's not that complicated.
He is one of the leader of Pleiades, *The Head Butler* of Nazarick. While Yuri is vice leader of Pleiades. Yes, Pleiades is under Sebas command and have another leader (the name will be mention in season 2) that really *The Leader of the Sisters* .
So, regarding his status, he is below floor guardian.
But regarding power, he is on par of floor guardian, especially have *Rock - Paper - Scissors* term of strength with Albedo and Cocytus.
@@cencourang985 well yes, but accualy no. He is below flor guardians in status, BUT his direct superior is Ainz himself, not any of the guardians. Thats why it's more complicated if you think abaut it. The only time he was directly under a guardian was in Kingdom arc part 2 (volume 6 if I recall corectly), but that was by Ainz order giving Demirge leadership over "Operation Gehenna", and smaller thing directly before it, but I don't tell any more cuz of spoilers

Have you ever read story that have noble in it?
Lets say, this noble house have a *House Owner* , *Head Butler* , and *General/Leader of Soldier* (some sort of leader of the noble family to protect them).
In term of status, *House Owner* will be number one, *General/Leader of Soldier* will be number two, and *Head Butler* will be number three.
But in term of order, number 2 can't order number 3 even tho they have high status and most of them usually from noble family too that work for that families for generations, because number 3 works under *House Owner* .
Number 3 can order number 2 if the number 1 order him (and the way around). Thats why I said, its not that complicated.
This system applies on Nazarick. Ainz is the House Owner, Floor Guardians is the General of the Nazarick, and Sebas is the Head Butler.
That's what I can concludes from reading a lot of the story that have drama in noble house. LOL

Only thing s3 does i spoil the novel. All the epic moments, all the cool moments.
It was treated like trash, and it was supposed to have some of the best moments. Which ended up being just hilarious and comedic due to how badly they were done. Amateurs do better work. Broken very low quality 3d models with stretched broken textures. "Animations" that consist of jerking the character up and down. Cutting countless things even in scenes that made it in, in order to cut as much as humanly possible from production, leading to very poor and inaccurate adaptation of the novel.
Even in dialogues at times.
It should be highly embarrassing for a pro studio to release anything nearly as bad. And it's a kick in the face of Overlord and people who care about it. Beyond being X brand you attached to, ready to swallow anything with the brand name regardless of how messed it is.
BTW Sebas may be as strong as guardians but he in under them in status.
