  • The Stock 2 is one of the most successful competition pistols of all time. It's been around the block time and time again, known for its accuracy, reliability, and speed, but how does it keep up against modern day offerings?

    The tanfoglio 10 mm was the first gun I ever fired that hit everything I aimed at right out of the box. There was no learning curve. It just hit like a laser. Excellent pistol.

    My family recently inherited a TA90 from my grandfather's police days in the 80s, I think. That gun continually wows people with the smoothness of its action, its accuracy, and ease of use.

    Only the Tanfoglio's built on their larger 45acp frame do not take the standard CZ75 mags .. the ones built on the 9mm frame use standard CZ mags .. This particular model is built on a 45 frame and uses proprietary 9mm mags to fit its larger frame.

    I had one almost 20 yrs ago. Should never have sold it. Not sure why I did. One of my favorite pistols. I'm more of a rifle guy and probably looking for moa accuracy. If I recall it was deal in price at the time being cheaper than the 1911s of the time. Accuracy was very good. Fit in my medium sized hand was very comfortable and recoil was very controllable. If the Laugo doesn't come out with an Alien in 45 soon I'll buy another Witness and never sell it.

      The PO7 is the perfect do all pistol IMO. It is my intention to get involved in competitive shooting with the sole reason is to become very proficient with my pistol. So these purpose built pistols for competition are very nice and sexy, but I will be carrying and competing with my "duty" style P07. I don't care if I cannot win all the time... but if the need ever arises to point it at a bad guy, he will instantly regret some life decisions at that moment.

So for the competition, the mechanism is worked or it is replaced by some parts (xtreme), it would be very helpful to make a comparison between the shadow 2 and the Tanfoglio but in its extreme version. I think it would be a more fair comparison. I love your channel. my congratulations from Argentina

    The difference in trigger travel in respect to the CZ Shadow is not due to "modernity". Is due to the CZ lacking the firing pin block. The same thing that makes the CZ it unfit for home defense, despite the rail, since dropping the gun in that situation is too much likely to not be taken into account.

    • @btsoc1397
      @btsoc1397 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's because the shadow is the competition version of the 75 sp01. The sp01 is more than fit for homedefense, the shadow should stay where it was designed for, competitions.

    Out of curiosity, were you malfs using 115 gr ammo? It has seemed to me that that type of action just kinda hates lighter ammo. I have run into a few of them where I just don't shoot anything lighter than 124s. I think the 115s I usually had nose up ftf s had a shorter oal also. Chris, have you ever shot a Sig 210? The CZ-75 is basically a Sig P210 that is DA/SA versus SA only. CZ gets all the credit for the design but truthfully it is Sig that should be touted as the brilliance behind the platform that so many have grown to love. If you can imagine a well tuned 1911 trigger in a CZ-75 then you owe it to yourself to shoot the P210 because it is just that a CZ-75 with a 1911esque SA firing group.
    I love CZ-75 pistols and am in no way taking anything away from them; however, the Sig 210 had served as a preferred police and military sidearm starting in 1948. You could easily mistake the Sig for a CZ if only giving it a quick glance, and then the obvious differences will draw you in because the grip panels and trigger will baffle you as to when CZ started offering a 75 in that configuration. Hope you and the family had a great holiday.

You could argue the same about CZ2s except they at least come with a FO front sight, and better trigger OOTB. If you do a comparison - make sure it's against a stock S2 vs a stock Stock2. Otherwise you need to throw a bunch of Patriot Defense parts in your Stock 2 to make it fair. Hell... have them work it over and then you'll really be able to see what a Stock 2 can do.

    Just buy a lighter hammer spring from cajun. Its about $10 go with a 15lb for reliability the DA will drop to like 8 or 9lbs and the SA will be closer to 4 lb or atleast thats how my Jericho was. It was initially a 20lb stock hammer spring with a 12 lb DA and 5 ish SA

    EAA is no longer importing Tanfos (no longer listed on their site). Italian Firearms Group/IFG is now conducting imports.

    Tanfoglio started the Witness line of pistols kind of cloning the CZ that cloned the Hi Power but now they aren't really clones. If anything Tanfoglio moved away and CZ started cloning them. So the reason they don't take the same mags is the same reason your glock and MP look very similar but take different mags.

    • @btsoc1397
      @btsoc1397 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing about a cz is a hi power clone. Completely different pistols that don't even resemble each other. The browning is a single action only, whereas the cz is a single/double. The cz has a slide that sits in the frame and the browning doesnt. If anything, the browning resembles a 1911 more than anything. The beretta 92 resembles a hi power more than a cz 75, and i dont even think a 92 is a hi power clone. Dude, we are talking a 50 year gap between the two firearms, you honestly think they would create a firearm specifically for military use by just cloning an old outdated pistol?
      The cz 75 has been around forever, and the shadow is clearly modeled after it, and even uses the same mechanics. The tangfolio started these pistols by emulating cz, and when cz released a new variant of the 75 (p01, shadow, sp01, etc), tanfolio released their own variant soon after. Tanfolio's also use many similar parts, and even the same mags on many of the models. They're definitely a cz clone, but who cares? They still do their own thing and they're nice guns, they just got their inspiration from a classic og, cz 75.

    The Tanfoglio is a great starting point.
    Polish the moving parts and you drop that trigger pull exponentially.
    My Limited Pro (same internals) ended up at around 6lb DA and, depending on hammer spring, as low as 1.8lbs I moved that up for competition use.
    Trigger reset has NOTHING to do with speed. That said, you can improve on it if you want, I wouldn’t waste the time on a non-factor.
    A major difference with the Tanfoglio vs the CZ, is on guns with a firing pin block, the CZ raises the block when you pull the trigger, where the Tanfo Lowers the block. This is why CZ still needs to make guns without a firing pin block.
    Polish the parts, replace the springs with something more to your taste, and you end up with a gun that is everything a CZ is, if not more, for a good bit less $$$

    Hey man, real question, when you shoot I notice you have little to no muzzle flip allowing for fast follow up shots. Can you do a video on you you keep the weapon on target so well? Keep up the good work.

      Take a shooting class technique and even breathing can affect your shots plus where your finger is placed on trigger......focus on accuracy first before speed

    To say "Tanfoglio is not CZ" is a subjective statement seeing how Tanfoglio sure has been putting a clinche in all divisions. Yea the CZ TS2 is good and like two other shadow variants but where CZ is loosing out to Tanfoglio is Tanfoglio has multiple variants that are blowing past and fae beyond Cz. You were shooting factory ammunition of the most popular handgun cartridge ever created. Its made fast with less attention than any cartridge. I also feel anyone who would buy a stock ll (which i assume people would opt for the stock lll by now) would be someone like myself who does their own gunsmithing for the most part and would have that trigger fixed to their preference before a round ever goes through it.

    Wait it doesn't use CZ75 mags?? I run a couple Tanfoglio mags in my Shadow 2, but the Shadow 2's mags won't work in this Tanfo? 😪

    I've got one sitting in the safe. I agree with your wife. It's the best looking pistol in my safe. My big gripe with it and the CZ 75 is neither fit my hands well. You really need a big pair of mitts to get a good hold on the gun. I've tried 3 different style grips to fix it and have yet to find a set that works for me. That said, it's a range pistol and I just deal with it.

      Hi Terry, try Armanov grips. That changed night and day the way the Shadow 1 shoots. Armanov allows you to chose CZ grips according to the size of your hands.

      LOL! I’m still looking for bigger grips for mine. It’s too small stock.
