Let me know if you have any questions or requests for video tutorials! I'm here to support all of you fabulous teachers out there who are teaching online or transitioning to teaching online :)
Have you tried doing a video announcement? Great way to start off the week by giving your students a quick 5 minute greeting and overview of what's happening this week.
Hey Ashlee, Thank you for all your videos. Our district just went to Canvas this year and your videos have been a huge help to me for my classroom. Thanks again!!
each class functions on their own so you need to post on each one. but! You can use the copy course content function to pop it into each class with a few clicks versus copy and paste. I've got a video on that ;) th-cam.com/video/D4_K5tJDmzg/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so much for your amazing videos. I would love to see you provide a tutorial regarding how to use the STUDIO feature. Again thank you for making my transition to online teaching stress free. :)
HI, Thank you for your video! I always love yours. And, if you don't mind, please tell me the best way to send the important announcements to students so that they could see them neatly and right away when they log into the Canvas. I use announcement or Inbox, but it seems that the students have to click Announcement to see the new one. Thank you so much!
Thanks for kind words 😊 For announcements they do have to click on it to open up to read it but make sure you have your settings adjusted so they see it on the homepage when they log in at the top. I show how to do that in this video if you missed it th-cam.com/video/8vLia8KWP1A/w-d-xo.html
Hi! Thank you so much for your video tutorials. They are VERY helpful. Quick question - Is it possible to post a canvas announcement in multiple courses? Apologies if this was covered already.
Glad they are helpful! At this time there currently is not a way to post an announcement in multiple courses at one time that I'm aware of. Each course functions on its own. I like to copy and paste. Saves a little time at least.
Ashlee, I love your videos and wonderful voice! I am just beginning my Canvas journey. How do I post Announcements to be at the top of the Home Page like yours?
Great info Ashlee. Question regarding imported announcements. What does the "Blue dot", the "Square", and the "Encircled U" mean in the left margin of announcements? What happens when I check the box?
blue dot means = unread ...you haven't opened it check mark = you got me on this one. I for the life of me can't figure this out yet. U = since it's imported there is not user/un named person for that announcement. To set that circle to your image/user that created it I use an odd trick bc I can't figure out a better way to do it yet...I copy and paste that content of the announcement in a new announcement then delete the other one. Extra time I know but at least you can re -use and import and not have to start from scratch every single class. hope this helps.
@@VirtualTeachingPro Whne you check the box, the trash image at the top of the page becomes "active". That way, you can check and trash/delete multiple announcements.
Hi Ashlee so, quick question- my district has zoom integrated into Canvas, and we start next week. How do I go about putting a zoom mtg link into an announcement? It shows on the calendar and on the right side of things "coming up". When I try to copy the link and insert into a page, I go to paste in in, but i don't see it. When I hit paste, it shows other things ive previously copied to my clipboard. There is a way..I think..? THANKS!
check out this video th-cam.com/video/gl38oNPHQ5Q/w-d-xo.html also because zoom is updating now everything is slightly different than before. When you go into a meeting you should be able to click the copy button and then paste it into an announcement. Hope this helps a little.

@@VirtualTeachingPro Thnx. I thought that might be the case. The copy & paste process is great. I also use the “copy to” feature for announcements.
Very informative for a newbie like me
Glad to hear it!

There is now way to change the order of announcements in Canvas, is that right?
As far as I know yes you are correct. No way to change the order. It lists them by date.
