It was, the soundtrack was really amazing and the gameplay was really unique. You had classes but you could have a secondary class, finding synergies and creating something unique that worked was something I deeply enjoyed
It still is, the servers aren't dead and people are still playing, even if it's over a decade after its prime. It's also a unique game, there is none other with this kind of gameplay system. Don't be fooled into thinking this is just a typical tab target MMO. Unlike fights in any other MMO where you usually fight one enemy at a time, hold aggro with tank, nuke with damage dealers and heal the tank, GW1 is different. In GW1 PvE fights resemble PvP fights. You have your 8 man team and the enemies also come in groups. And they use the same abilities like you do, they have their healers, damage dealers. Oh, and their damage dealers don't give a crap about your tank, they go straight for your squishies, so it's up to you to slow them down, bodyblock them, interrupt their longer cast spells to survive.
It was and still is. Everybody that played GW1 gad different reasons for playing the game. Mine was the crafting of good builds for pvp and ofc the luxon/kurzick pvp fights in general. Then also came on seasonal events bug racing and ofc getting endgame gear in underworld runs. GW1 had much to offer even if people didnt see it at first.
Lol I love that those factions actually created real animosities out of a video game. The Alliance Battles, Jade Quarry, and so on were always so heavily tense with this real sense of hating the enemy
Never played Guild Wars but judging by the soundtrack... It must have been a darn good game
It was.. The Soundtrack was composed by Jeremy Soule, who also did the OST for the Elder Scrolls Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim
