    Yes! Bring Joy!! I'm from Maine. She lived in Vermont all her last decades. These photos from the books you now own are all from her off grid farmhouse home in Vermont where she lived since 1971 following two short marriages in the 1960s. As electricity was being hooked up across the country she moved into a run down 1789 NH farmstead. Twenty or so years later her sons Seth & Tom built their mom her house as a replica of her NH friends' house she so admired. Tom then moved in next door with his wife & kids. In her book the Private World of... there are details on this time period. Tasha lived as though she was frozen within the decade of the 1830s specifically though she was born in 1915 in Boston, Mass.
    She also had two daughters prior to the Vermont move. There are so many wonderful quotes from her writing and one of the motherhood quotes indicates she got electricity in her household finally installed when her youngest was 5. Her legacy directly after she passed became confusing for a couple years, it seems, when her children were not wanting to follow the burial wishes she’d set down in her will & they brought it to court until her ashes were divided. She had left most of her estate to son Seth & his son Winslow. Tasha also wrote her own autobiography twice. As a big fan of hers, I was delighted to recently find a glorious new website run by (maybe) her family (Tashatudorandfamily.com) & SEED packets collected from her gardens that utilize her darling illustrations on the packaging are now being offered!

    I discovered Tasha Tudor, in the 90's myself and I love, love, love, her art, home and garden much like you do!! I am soooo glad that your friend convinced you to get something for yourself. You are a very giving, gracious woman and I truly believe you have more than earned this little treat for yourself

    Thank you for sharing this joyful moment with us. I too was a weird teenager, and love 'meeting' others who were also. My dragon scale mitts have garnered compliments when I am out and about. Thank you.

    The woman who has influenced me most is Simone de Beauvoir. I was a teenager when I first read Memoirs of a Dutiful Daughter and it literally changed my life. It encouraged me to live my own life, to believe in myself, to think that being a woman didn't mean my path was already set. 40 years later it still help me to be a free person.
    I'm french, and I don't know if her name is known in the US, except maybe for The Second Sex, her most famous book.

    Being from Europe, Tasha Tudor is not very known here although I have heard of her through the internet. For me though, my hero must undoubtedly be John Seymour. I will forever remember the first time I read his complete book of self-sufficiency, it filled a piece in my heart that had always felt empty. His life and work are as inspirational to me as I feel Tasha her life and work are to you and many others.

    Thanks for the introduction! I have been looking for high quality books for my toddler and all the modern books are just awful imo. Just looked up some Tasha Tudor books and they look wonderful!

    I love those books! I bought them in the early 90's. I looked back to them quite often. I had to sell them with many other books earlier this year when I moved and needed to downsize. I also bought a book written by her daughter about Tasha's life and a cookbook. Those are gems, so dreamy! I totally understand why you bought them and know you will enjoy them for many years!

    Lovely video! I'm sharing this with my mom. I watched these two 80s Martha Stewart videos growing up...a lot, I think Xmas and thanksgiving specials. You might like jeri landers on TH-cam....she's extremely crafty/ illustrator/gardener and reminds me of Beatrix Potter and Tasha Tudor.

    I learned about Tasha in the 70's,she was sort of a goal post for my wanderings, attempts and I was inconsolable when she died as I realized I now had to guide my own journey.

    Tasha Tudor spent her life in VERMONT. Raven Road Marlboro Vermont to be exact. As a fan you should know that. Please correct.

    • @ParkrosePermaculture
      @ParkrosePermaculture  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did correct in the description as soon as I caught the error on upload! She lived in New Hampshire and then Vermont. I have no idea why “Maine” came out my mouth! Didn’t even realize it did until way to late to edit it. 😂
      I wish I could edit the video but I can’t once uploaded, only the description.
