Interesting strategy. I completed my only GB campaign back in 2011. As far as I remember, my #1 priority was to bundle all units & ships to take out the pirate ships and settlements whilst they were concentrated, to eliminate the Pirates faction and secure the safety of future trade nodes. I think I took them out by like Turn 4. Then I focused on uniting the Americas, and finally on conquering India. Every turn I pumped out Trade Ships and sent them to trade nodes; I think I owned them all because I went to war with anyone who took one, and as soon as I was rich enough, I made 1 ship to blockade every Spanish and French port in the game so my superiority could never be challenged. By the time I won the game, I'd not taken a single settlement in Europe.
Hi I'm about to start my first empire campaign, your trade route node advice is really helpful, do you have anymore general advise for a first campaign?
@@rverhoeven6993 Yeah Europe doesn't have that many resources to export. Great Britain is by far my favorite faction cause I don't need to bother with annoying land wars in Europe... Land war in Europe is something I really hate. With Brits you can easily take over trade theaters, Americas and India. Although India can very annoying if Marathas manage to take it before you get there... But at least India is rich with resources, in Europe you're stuck fighting powerful land armies for little monetary gain.
Good video for the beginners faction. Also I think a reason Africa is just restricted to trade nodes is because it really was just trade posts on the coasts from 1700-1800. Hopefully in an Empire 2 we will get to scramble for Africa and have places like China and Japan included as well.

I typically will blockade France's norther ports and the straight of Gibraltar by turn 2 or 3 which pretty much neutralizes them and allows me to farm Spain for Galleons to feed my merchant fleets.

The reason factions like france, GB and spain are so OP is because their unique missions. Example France. You can turn 2 take london and just gift it to Louisiana and let the ai cheat and fix the public order issues and do that with almost anywhere you want making conquest an absolute steamroll. And just finish the mission whenever you want and get it all back all built up and in perfect condition while having soent nothing and just paying for armies and navys all funded by sacking and trading
@@FaramirsRangers oh thanks for you answer. Great britain campaign at normal difficulty is too easy for me now. (I get 50 regions by 1770) When I try normal or hard level campaign with sweden, united province, prussia and russia, the gap is very big for me. The uk is so protected in normal difficulty level! you're never attacked on mainland uk. I got used to this easyness :-) At normal difficulty, among 6 UK campaign I did, the A.I tried to land armies with boat only once (spanish trying to land an army by boat in mexico). When you play at hard level, It seems the ai is much more agressive, land armies everywhere and you get attacked by so many angles as prussia, sweden or united province or russia. I'm at this stage where obviously normal difficulty campaign with Uk is too easy, and I have trouble finding a campaign I can have fun with but a bit more difficult. Thank you for the great videos you host on this game.
what if your only territory is England, Scotland, and Ireland while every other territory you conquer is gifted to the 13 colonies? can you still win the campaign?
Time to boot up ETW and find out! At the very least you get an untimed mission that annexes your protectorate as GB/France/Spain, so you could give everything to your Protectorate then fulfil the mission at the end of the game

@@FaramirsRangers Lol......I remember those days well. Someday you'll likely look back in remembrance with fondness of them.....as unlikely as it may seem now. It was just good to see you were still with us and doing ok. Rock and war on Dave.😉😛🤡😜
I don't really do this as British cause there's no real need to. All you need to do is defeat French and Spanish navies at start, then blockade their ports with just 1 ship each... When port is under blockade, it can't build more ships... That way you basically neutralize their threat. Taking over Americas is pretty easy, you can send 1 army with navy from Europe and recruit another army in Port Royal in Jamaica. Especially Spanish will be totally strangled to death if you block all their trade from their colonies. France won't be, since France is very rich region... However, they will lose all their colonies, can't trade with anyone and can't build any ships cause you're blockading all their ports so you don't need to care, they are neutralized at that point. I rather send armies hastily also to India before Marathas take it over. So yeah I'd put all my resources on just steamrolling Americas and India, wouldn't want to bother with European theater too much as British aside from having strong navy there to block any enemy ports and defend your own. Also securing trade theaters is vital of course to upkeep your large navy + take out pirates as fast as you can.
Usually late game for me unless you play on lower difficulty. On hardest you will get everyone declaring war on you so your route will get raided. I usually don’t start until I take Portugal or morocco. That gives you a hub to repair and reload your fleets.
Just started playing mobile version since it dropped today, I’ve only played M2 and that one took me a bit to understand but ima bit better at it, but this one confused me
I started trying out the mobile version today myself and it is taking me a bit of time to find things that are different from pc version. Let me know what you are having issues with and maybe I can help.
@ appreciate you man, so the thing is that I have zero clue on what I’m doing. I don’t even know where to begin it’s overwhelming, I can’t even find how to change taxes, i tried to send some troops to Paris on a ship and it said if I did I would either start war or could try to gain access. In m2 I would send troops no problem and war would start when I attacked a settlement, not upon arrival. The ships also confuse me because now I’m not only seeing that I can buy ships for naval fights but also trade. Diplomacy feels wayyyy different too. My bad for just throwing random points all over the place but yea over all the whole game has me confused.
@@Dushanesully no worries. So land access vs older games is different because in this more modern setting communication although not great was way better than in Medieval times. If another nations troops were trolleying through they would be war. So it is letting you know to access their land without an agreement it will be war. Some of the other points I will address in a video later today as it is hard to put in writing. As for ships yes trade ships are used to gain you more money from trade by either putting it on an enemy trade route doing some piracy or sending to the trade nodes for resources. Much of the changes are reflective of the time period like how regions are structured.
@@FaramirsRangers ohhhh I see what you mean, I didn’t take in to consideration that the time period has to do with how that works it make much more sense now, that’s a real nice touch actually. And Spain is learning the hard way do not fuck with me when I have a bigger army. Like their army compared to mine is a complete joke. In my game I currently have three full units in Spain and I'm pretty sure the city I took was their main land cuz immediately after I took I had a rebellion which was destroyed immediately.
