- The brutal rape and murder of six-year-old Zainab Ansari in Pakistan has sparked outrage across the country. Secunder Kermani reports for Newsnight on the investigation into her murder.
Pakistani officials say they will investigate allegations police carried out an extrajudicial killing of a man wrongly accused of murdering a child.
The allegations uncovered by BBC Newsnight focus on DNA tests suggesting the child victim was killed by the same man suspected of murdering six-year old Zainab Ansari in Kasur.
Police officers deny the claims, saying the man was shot resisting arrest.
The rape and murder of Zainab sparked outrage and protests across Pakistan.

I can't believe I was once in a position where I could've ended up like these beautiful unfortunate kids it still shocks me and breaks my heart.
I was 7 living in Karachi when I was approached by a man, he told me to follow him, that he had things that belonged to my dad. I think it was a Friday and he wore grey sharwal kameez along with a prayer hat. Naively, I followed him. I saw my house as I passed it and followed him through the busy market. I was lucky because half way outside the market I just had the worst feeling, something told me to run. I saw the opportunity when we were about to cross the road into a neighbourhood which I wasn't familiar with and as he began walking again I ran and didn't look back. I wish these girls had the same luck it sucks so much that there are men out there who would hurt a little child in the most gruesome way possible and just throw them into trash as if they meant nothing. That's not a human, it's evil in the living form.
Teach boys manners and proper behaviours be stricter. Too much attention on the girls not enough on the boys. Also where the hell are these kids parents? Why were they alone even for 5 minutes?

Even though the early delay and it's dire consequences was a failure in the part of police, the judicial system's apt action and execution of the culprit is respectable.
