The "tenderizer" is called a jaccarder and is a staple in a steak house, usually used for chicken and coulotte sirloin, it not only tenderizes but also creates a more even thickness across ur protein so it cooks more evenly. There's also much larger versions that can fit an entire sirloin butt or strip lion to jaccard before slicing.

I appreciate that Poppy actually tries to see how this would be useful for someone else when reviewing, it's nice when people reviewing things try to think just not about what they think about it, but also consider how it could be useful for someone else. Even if something isn't for you, it could be for a friend or a relative, and could be a great gift for them, and nothing shows you care like putting that kind of consideration into a gift.

      @gardengatesopen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@myname-mz3lo I have to agree with you here...
      WHO NEEDS A "YES" MAN?!!
Because isn't the WHOLE POINT for the viewer to hopefully find out if we might be wasting our money on some unknown kitchen gadget?
(Aside from the entertainment value, of coarse!)
And wouldn't my gift to YOU be that much better if it actually worked?!!
      Sera-
Have you ever received a gift that turned out to be a worthless dud when you went to use it?
      It's just soooo disappointing...
I feel that a bad result in the gift I gave you shows that I did NOT give it much thought, OR do any research with this gift I have given you.
When a gift turns into a dud, all I've really given you is the burden of you having to now get rid of that terrible gift!
And then, after you tried to use the donut cutter, and it was clearly a dud, what will you say to me about it the next time we see each other?
Would you tell a big giant FIB by saying something like, "It's really fun to use!"
Even though it WASN'T any fun to use?
Even though it was frustrating to use, and you just want to exchange it?!!
But now you don't want to hurt MY feelings by telling me my gift was crummy, so you end up fibbing to me!
Which, really Sera, a FIB is actually a lie...
      So you see...
There's just all these problems stemming from a review that is not 100% honest.
Today's product was a great example of this VERY THING:
      That ridiculous donut cutter!
It barely cut donuts AT ALL !!
Poppy showed us that someone else had to help her use the gadget to just get ONE DONUT cut out of the dough!!!
      Ugh!!
And STILL she said it was "Worth The Money" !!!
      Double-UGH!!!
AND don't you think it also looks like it would be very irritating to clean afterward!?!!
I'm thinking 2 sharp cookie cutters would not only cut better, but would be:
      ▪︎FASTER
      ▪︎EASIER TO USE
      ▪︎MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE
      AND
      ▪︎EASIER TO CLEAN!!
      AND-
▪︎ 2 Cookie Cutters would result in a better shaped donut!
      AND•AND -
▪︎ 2 Cookie Cutters would take less time to use!
      AND•AND•AND-
▪︎ 2 Cookie Cutters can be used for other things as well!!
You know, like maybe cutting actual cookies!!
Heck, even using a glass cup, and a shot glass, would work better than that silly donut cutter!!
      So, no Sera.
I do not think Poppy's input was helpful AT ALL.
Especially in the case of the over-priced "donut cutter" which now needs to be in parentheses because it doesn't actually CUT donuts as advertised!
It doesn't do what it promises to do.
      Plus, Poppy's a bit of a ditz...
And no, I'm not being a troll to Poppy.
I would actually say this to her face, in the nicest way possible, of coarse.
Bcuz hey - if your friends can't tell you the truth, then you're prolly not a very good friend, are you?
If Poppy would stop worrying about saying the wrong thing, or saying "what she thinks people want to hear", and simply tell the truth - THEN she would be helpful !!
From what I saw, the truth for Poppy seems to be that she had seen this product before, and she thought it looked like fun (IF it actually worked like it says it does) AND even though it did NOT work like it said it did, and it was NOT fun bvuz she had to press DO HARD and then only ONE donut was cut, after ALL OF THAT she STILL wanted it to work! and be fun! and so she lied.
Perhaps she was lying to herself too? I dunno.
Either way, her review was NOT helpful.
But watching her TRY to make the gadget work WAS helpful to ME.
It was THEN that I saw with my own eyes that it is just one of those useless gadgets which is a waste of my money, and I'm betting takes up too much space in the landfill.
Because Sera, even though you were trying to be nice with your comment about Poppy, the truth is:
      Nobody needs a "Yes" man.
      Actual Truth is better. ❤

I think you guys entirely missed some of the best features of the Aeropress. For example, it is super easy to clean compared to every other coffee device I have ever owned. You just press out the puck of grounds into the trash and give the parts a quick rinse. There are very few nooks and crannies that accumulate gunk, unlike drip machines, percolators or a French press, and it doesn’t need any counter space.

Not all drip machines have, "nooks and crannies that accumulate gunk". My ninja hot and cold brewing system is cleaned in the exact same way the aeropress is. I knock the grounds into the trash, quickly rinse the coffee or loose leaf tea brewing basket, then put it back into the machine. I'm not limited to only a few cups of coffee, either. I can make anywhere from a 4oz shot of concentrated coffee/tea, to a full carafe. I don't have to purchase filters or have a separate device to heat water, either.

I had an idea for pass it on: Mix up. You know how you can get those Skittles where the flavours don't match the colours? Same thing for food. So the food team lays out a bunch of ingredients, that correspond to a load of alternatives and the guys can pick some ingredients, but can't take them. Instead, they get given the alternate that matches whatever original ingredient they picked.
So they say they want lamb, potatoes and a lemon and instead they get fish, mint and grapefruit. Of course, they would be limited to only being allowed to choose say 3-5 ingredients, otherwise they could just request 20 things and then use a couple of things from what they get. I feel like the chaos it would cause would be fantastic.

Put the dough through the sheeter and then on the stainless steel counters (little flour down to keep from sticking too much) and you could put a lot of pressure and get clean cuts without it sliding around. Hi! I´ve been following sorted for quite a while, and the work is actually superb! But there is something I don´t recall watching, and is a video with the challenge of 0 sodium. I´d personally love to see a video challenging restrictive diets that are, frankly becoming more and more popular each day. Just remembering that sodium is ever so present in high quantities such as in soja sauce, cheese and so on, some of us have a limited amount of sodium per day [in my case, 1.5g a day].

    • @danielamaterna7348

And low/no carbs sugar would be good too!

    • @Sunny-ot1vo
      @Sunny-ot1vo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I think the reason for this is because it get's too specific about personal diets. Veganism or vegetarianism can also be introduced based on environmental or cultural views. If someone if watching sodium intake (you still need sodium) it will depend on other vitamin levels, water intake, wholeistic diet, lifestyle and if you are on medications. They are not doctors. I understand your curiosity, but unless supported by a dr. I very much dislike diets that withhold any ingredient or food. Same with carbs. If someone needs lowcarbs what is the cause? Weight loss, inflammation, feeling lethargic, etc- it's not the carbs it's probably the quantity, frequency and type. Too low carb and you get into keto fad territory. That isn't for everyone and based on personal health it might not be a good option. Also not all carbs or sugars are created equal. When fad diets restrict something the body becomes deprived of it. Some say no sugar as in no additional sugar like sweets, soda, processed grains, syrups or honey etc. Others might think they should cut out fruit, dairy, and all carbs.
Typicall the cause of wanting to know this information is to get off medication or to lose weight. Diet is a part of it, but physical activity is what will drive everything. If there is a specific condition that prevents this normal process from happening (which is a slow process, no one gains 5,10, 20, 50, 100lbs over night) talk to a doctor and a nutritionist.
      I say this affectionately.

4:05 "The electric ricecookers can be a bit pricy sometimes" - True, but I can speak from personal experience that this doesn't have to be a problem. I bought my ricecooker when it was on offer at a local supermarket for 24,99 €. Reason being that I just wanted to see whether or not it makes a difference when compared with the method I usually used, which was rice in those cooking bags.
Result: The difference is huge and very noticable. Rice is way more fluffy and super easy to make, you just prepare the rice (wash it, then measure the appropriate amount of water and lightly season it), put it in the rice cooker, push the button, done. It'll be done in about 20-25 minutes or so, but the exact point in time doesn't matter at all, because the ricecooker keeps it fresh, warm and fluffy for at least 30 minutes up to two hours before it slowly deteriorates in quality. Where previously we ate rice about once per month, it's now at least once a week and it just tastes so much better.
Obviously an expensive rice cooker will give you more options to experiment with other dishes and it might offer some additional conveniences, but even a cheap rice cooker is absolutely worth it if your household doesn't have an inherent dislike for rice. (And you can find enough space to store it in or near your kitchen, some people struggle with that.)

If your rice cooker has more than one switch and two lights (cook/warm), you've paid too much for your rice cooker. You can get an incredibly simple rice cooker for $15 (6 cup) to $30 (10+ cup), and the simpler the rice cooker, the better the rice.
Sure, there are multi-function gadgets that claim to cook rice, but none work as well as a simple rice cooker.
And don't forget to buy a rice washing bowl.

So the tenderizer that they have is very similar to what my family would do with a fork on really cheap cuts

poking meat is an old technique from 70s that got proven to be bad for meat . tough cuts are just meant to be cooked with diferent techniques not tenderising . (i work in two michelin starred restaurant and any chef i know would walk off stage if told "look at this new gadget") lol

Areopress is great for a cheap make at work option! The inversion method is much much better I will say tho. And you can TOTALLY use the back of the spoon to give it a stir. No idea where my paddle is lol hahha

Absolutely love Poppy, she's such a laugh and so chill, especially for a chef, as Baz and Jamie were saying, she's so normal! Definitely hope to see her on the show more, if not becoming the new second chef!! (With James coming back occasionally obviously because his sass was on point)

My dad got one of the tenderisors so I'm glad it did well... because we just pre-tenderised and marinaded like 80 cuts of meat (there are between 2 and 18 of us here at any given time so prep is key
