☕ I love kitchen gadgets and this Ninja coffee machine looks to be crammed full of them... I suffer with terribly hard water, and that water testing facility is a big plus if it adds to the long life of the machine.
Heya. Same here on the water hardness. I'm on a well, so it's pretty typical to have a lot of minerals in there. I still use the water filtered through my fridge, but I'm sure there's still a little that gets through.
FYI, it has manual frath mode if you you want to froth it manually. I watched lot of reviews about this ninja. For the price and what it does, can't beat it. I bout one two days ago. So far I like it.
We just bought it. But do you know if it has a Descale bypass hack? We use our Rain Collection System water which is 99.9% pure, no need to descale. Thx
Was looking in the settings and the hidden settings for that. Haven't seen a bypass on it yet. I know on their other coffee makers, you can bypass it by unplugging for 5 mins, and when it comes back on it resets it supposedly.
Thanks! Not sure. This version just came out a couple of months ago, but the have a different version in the EU. Turn around for them is usually under a year, so maybe another 6 months or so I would guess.
Will you guys please put a measuring cup under the machine with no grounds in it and run a 6 ounce classic coffee and report back how many ounces actually came out. My machine puts 2 ounces sometimes 2 1/2 out more than it’s supposed to. Is this normal?
The max I would get on the 2oz basket is 1.5oz so I called Ninja. The rep said I should be getting a max of 1.6oz on the factory setting. It looks like people are getting more on their videos but I don't see anyone taking measurements when they are doing reviews.
@Tothefloor nice for the price, but I agree it's not up to those Breville machines just yet. If I remember right those are stainless construction too, aren't they?
Great video, solid recommendations for watching other content creators as well, and to use filtered/purified water, etc. I want an espresso machine, but not sure this is the right one yet... I'll see if Gen 2 brings a hot water dispensing option, and maybe a better build quality for the unit and accessories.... I've seen multiple creators say the plastic accessories have broken, some multiple times.
I have had mine for 2 months now. I put a 20oz travel mug under it and I select 16 oz and for some reason it always overfills the mug. I wonder if there is a way to recalibrate for amount of water it flows when making coffee.
Hmm... That's an interesting one.... Have you by chance measured out the inside of that mug to make sure it's actually 20oz capacity? Sometimes they fib on those a little.
Not super hot.... It gets to about 165 F, and that's about it. Might do a little better if you start with hotter water, but don't it will make it into the 180 range where some people really like it.
If there was a way to bypass the bean hopper for grinding a different type of bean, that would be amazing. Otherwise, I love everything about this unit.
You can grind from another grinder and still use the unit. I have drip grind that I use without using the one in the Ninja. I use that for my wives cold brew. I'll also use the Ninja to grind a double shot, then turn the unit off and back on and reselect quad shot. I want more water with the shot but if u grind it in the machine, it will not allow you to use quad shot if you use the double shot filter, just a little trick. I use all kinds of drip ground coffee in the Ninja
Technically no since shot size determination is typically based on basket size and the amount of coffee your using not the final liquid volume. Theres no quad shot basket.
On that quad basket, you have to put extra grounds in there in order to get the tamper to compress it properly. How true it is, I don't know though. I feel like the machine slightly under-pours.
You use the quad shot basket and it just drips right into you cup or travel mug. Takes a few minutes though. So it's not super ideal for that, but it works.
Both can produce good coffee. Yes if you want better temperature stability a dual boiler will get you that but that’s really only for the espresso enthusiasts.
Dual boiler machines are significantly more expensive than thermablock as well. So yes, if you can afford $1,200 + espresso machines, go for it. The improvement though is marginal so question is if it is worth it for you.
It can, but you need to use the whole beans if you want to use the grinder... Unless you're talking about French vanilla creamer in which case it works great.
This price point is really on the lower end of espresso machines. So, you are getting a lot for $500. I know a lot of people will balk at that amount of money but there’s a reason coffee shops charge what they do for lattes and cappuccinos.
I did it with fat free milk, so it came out a little flat. That was on me, not so much the machine. I did it again with whole milk and it was a lot fluffier.

Thanks.. Appreciate that!
It's so well thought out on design and function. I can only dream.

Yeah... I'm drinking waaaaaay too many capps now... On the bright side, I can make lots of videos....since I no longer sleep.
It is crucial to set up what kind of drink you want before you put the Porta- filter in the bean grinder.
Yep...Confirmed. Thanks!
Seems like a pretty neat starter machine
You took it up the level Joe! Studio looks fantastic and beautiful + quality

does the milk frother make a "thumping" sound when in use?
It does a little while it's heating the water to create the steam.
Great review
When is the new improved model coming out?
Thanks

@@AlonzoWard I returned mine and bought a Breville. I spent more money, but it was worth it in the end. Ninja needs more work

So far mine is solid. No problems yet, and I use it daily. The water dispenser was a definitely fail to leave out though. Totally agree with ya.

I thought about getting a second hopper to use for that stuff.. Might work?
@JoesPhenomenal I'd probably just find a roast that works decent for most things and break out the hand grinder if I wanted something different.
@@weightsnwaves that sounds like a solid idea.

Is the quad shot true espresso?

Just not sure of a thermoblock vs dual boiler - some people say coffee tastes better from boiler based machines.
Seems like good coffee can be suuuuch a subjective kind of thing.

I need this manhine.
Will this come to Australia im sweating on it have asked around NO one has any idea at all.All the big stores have zero idea useless they are.
It's a pretty new machine. I would think it would get there sooner than later. Ninja's release schedule is just kinda weird.

Can this machine make French vanilla coffee?
It can, but you need to use the whole beans if you want to use the grinder... Unless you're talking about French vanilla creamer in which case it works great.

Agreed... I think it's a pretty darned good value, myself. I'm a coffee nerd though.
I was interested until I saw that the European version has a hot water button to make americano and has other options as well. That disappointed me
Same... Can't imagine why they would have left that out. It's in their other coffee makers.
4mins is an eternity....nice commentary on this generation
When I need coffee, I need it yesterday!
Your side measurements are wrong. You need to add 4 inches on each side to access the accessories.
Aha! Yes... Absolutely correct. Thanks for that.
That foam did not look good

that capuccino made me sad :(
Fat free milk.... low cal.... low fun.
