This was I really helpful explanation of two of the features that I was most interested in the new version but it wasn't very well advertised and explained. so because of that, I didn't upgrade right away. after hearing your explanation, it's absolutely a feature I would have used
Hi Eli, just wondering whether the following has been bugging you about C1 as well: When one is tweaking a brushed mask in C1 by repeatedly switching between positive brushing (adding to the mask) and negative brushing (erasing parts of the mask), there is only one shortcut for the erasure brush but three different shortcuts for positive brushing, one for each brush type respectively. One always has to be conscious about what type of layer one is working on and hence switch between say "E" and "B", or "E" and "S", etc. depending on what your brush shortcuts are. I don't know if you know this but earlier versions of C1 had just one brush tool and it just adapted to the layer one was working on. Hence, regardless of the layer type, one could always just switch between "E" and "B" and there would never be any accidental unwanted changes to the layer selection because of C1 wanting to "help" by choosing a layer that fits the currently selected brush type. I'd be delighted, if you could let me know if you recognise the issue. AFAIC, it would be so easy to just add a fourth ("auto"-) brush that automatically adapts to the currently selected layer. Wouldn't that be helpful?
Thoughts on if they will come out with more AI masking???? Some people don’t see it as necessary, but for portrait photographers, it would be soooooo helpful in my humble opinion
I can't imagine AI selection of things in a photograph won't eventually come along especially for masking. how far out that is is a great question. I think their current answer to that problem would be the magic brush, so even if they didn't come out with something AI specific, if they boosted that brushes ability for you to drag it through a subject or object, it would definitely streamline the process more than it does now

Nice tutorial, thank you very much, I have a question, hope to be clear with my "bad english" ... I shot with my Sony and Fuji always in Raw and in Jpeg just to have a SOOC file as I like, but when I edit photos, I edit Raw... when I was using Capture One 11, every raw imported, was "washed" of its "picture style" preset the camera give to them, so I can see the pure raw colors, is it possible to do it now with capture one 23 or capture one express 22 during the import fase or after it?? Thanks if you can help me!!
Question! I have C1 since 2021, but recently it went out of sunscription, i hadn´t had my CC near by, so i couldn´t start the program. Luckly for me, i still had the Adobe Subscription so I installed the Lightroom classic. Then i realized that it has automask for subject and background...is there anything like that on Capture One?...i feel that brushing the mask trought the skin or subject feels old. Thanks!
looking for the simple simple tool just to send one image to trash...in capture 21 there was an X and in capture 20 there was a BIN logo and I could send those to trash..instead of starring and "dragging" to trash folder
I love your cheerfulness and positivity Eli but man…. You could just set your exposure and colour balance IN CAMERA… whilst shooting, and as the light fades adjust it, it’s called being a pro… instead of relying on AI
@@EliInfante yes you are fella and a damn good one at that..! I just don’t understand why we buy such expensive cameras and lenses…. Then don’t expose properly, just fire off 1700 frames, and spend hours (even with ver.23) ‘fixing it in post..’. I get it though… you ‘had’ to take millions of shots on auto… so you could help C1 sell their near useless new auto features..
Thanks for the quick tutorial. Eli I own a Canon R5 and looking to get a Leica second body. Will westcott triggers work on both cameras on the same fj400? Great stuff I watch your videos all the time. Do you have a workshop in the near future?
You're welcome Angel! As for Leica I'm not sure if the FJX3 trigger will work. I would give customer support a call to make sure. I do have a workshop announcement coming soon in Arizona and Ohio.

You're very welcome, Jason! Initially, these features don't seem like a big deal but they can make a massive difference for wedding photographers.
If you have capture one, can you just do an upgrade or do you have Re purchase?
Man that was great Eli! I don’t look into updates in CO very often but these will all help my workflow for sure. Nice job and thank you!
Appreciate it Matt!
This is really great! Awesome video, Eli! Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure!
This literally saved years of my life ❤❤ thanks

Love your videos. May I ask, what do you have underneath the woman in the silver sparkle dress? I love the reflective, almost water look it creates!
Its called mylar.
@@EliInfante like the heat blankets they give runners?? That's absolutely genius. Thank you my friend

I agree! I'm going to talk to the team about adding AI masking Laurie. 😁
@@EliInfante WOW that would be great!!! They keep saying “they have the masking brush” but that just doesn’t cut it
Yes. Im also waiting for this feature 🙏🏻🙌

You're welcome Anthony! Thank you for tuning in and supporting the channel. 😎
@@EliInfante Thank you so much Eli
Looks nice. What camera, lenses do you use in these images if I may ask? And where did you get the styles you use?
I use the Canon R5 and Sony A7IV. I bought the styles from the Capture One website.
@@EliInfante which styles?
thanks dude
No problem! Thanks for tuning in Des.
Nice Mr. 👍

Thanks for a very good tutorial 👍🏼 7:02 Did you just say that Capture One recognizes faces??
It recognizes faces for the exposure features for Smart Adjustments.

I have free RAW files on my photoshop tutorials. Thanks Cesare!
The Smart adjustment works great IF the reference image is VERY similar to target image. It is not working great for weddings IMO.
What type of images are you using? Light condition-wise
@@EliInfante VERY similar outdoor images looked fine. Indoor natural light is not working. In some cases, copying settings is working better.

Hey Carlos there isn't an AI automask feature just yet. I'm sure that's something they're looking into.

That's a great idea Sophie
My imported image in capture one 21 are always red

Thanks 🔥
Cr3, is from Sony? WOW....
"After 1st February 2023, new perpetual license purchases will not receive any feature updates" WTF I'm glad I didn't upgrade.
I just heard about this. I'm still trying to understand what this means.

No way im buying a subscription for a software.
No worries do what works best for you. ❤️
Too little features to be jumping to capture one 23 from 22.
This should just be an update patch
Hopefully they'll add subject selection soon!
