- The film is about Robin Wood making a set of ash nesting bowls from a piece of branch wood, on a pole lathe. Robin is Britain's leading pole lathe turner. The film came from research I undertook while writing The Man Who Made Things Out of Trees, my book about man's relationship with ash through history. The book is published by Penguin in October 2015.

Walking in the peaks I came across your mans lathe here. Didn’t want to intrude so watch a moment and went on my way. Glad after several years I finally got to see him using it a bit longer.
Nice, thanks for that. I've read the book and as a passionate green wood carver I was curious about how the bowls looked like. Also I was fascinated to discover that the bowls were made by Robin wood. He made some great tools I'm using 👍

There are many factors in best bowls tips. One resource I found which successfully combines these is the Berts Bowls Guide (check it out on google) definately the no.1 guide that I've seen. look at the extraordinary information.

Well well, reading your book Robert and had to search up a video just to get it right in my head how the lathe worked and what do I find? Brilliant. The book is a dream by the way, have recommended to some like minded friends.
I can see this clip goes back 5 years but what a beautiful bit of workmanship, a true master craftsman and an absolute pleasure to watch admire and learn.
One thing that would concern me is the very close proximity of the pole and your head, has it ever happened to anyone ?

I watched an old British dude doing the same thing last night. Thats how this video was recommended. Not much of difference. I dont know if the word Leading was necessary considering the work looks about the same. If you based it on sales or something that could be. The work looked the same.
