I waited for months for someone else to change my son's bedroom door lock. Following your step by step method it only took 15 minutes tops! First door knob I've ever replaced...Thank you!!!
thank you ...finally someone has shared details of how to install a door handle correctly. No other video gave me the information that was necessary. Great Video
I used to be able this, but then had not done it in a long time. Thanks for the refresher course. Now I think I can do it. If not, I will come and watch it again until I get it. Thanks so much for making this video.
anyone want me to make a tutorial of this but with addtl info. will have explanations of where to put the circle insert. also may include section for if there are no screws visible on the lock. may also possibly include how to pick the lock incase key goes missing.
Our lock mechanic before was horizontal to stay unlocked and turn it vertical to lock it. But now the new one I got is the other way, where the vertical is to stay unlocked and turn it horizontal to lock. Is there a way I can change this?
Wow! thank you for the tutorial. It's much easier than I thought. they key to installation seems to be proper alignment of the latch mechanism inside the door knob opening. I think I could install this style (with screws) by myself. But what if there aren't external screws???
Great video. Do you know how to set the knob up so that it CANNOT lock? Our 3 year old son locked himself in the bedroom. We never knew the lock worked! We thought it was like all the others here where the piece you turn to lock it just spins. The older couple who lives here did it on purpose I think so that they wouldn't accidentally lock themselves in a room and couldn't get help. Well, luckily we managed to get my son out of the room and he even managed to put the inner half of the knob back on to turn the mechanism in the door to get it open. But now we want to put the knob back in without it locking. How do you do that?
i would never put screws on outside of a door you want to lock. defeats the purpose. for those that said its a fail-safe incase you're locked out, im not buying it. you could always pick the lock if that happens.
hmm I checked this video to see whether it would indicate something I did wrong which would cause the fact that the door would only seem to close but not latch. Cat can push door open. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong unless somehow the latch is too recessed. any advice anyone?
Thanks but don't you think it is strange that the disassembly screws are on the locked side. If I don't have a key I could just remove the entire lock.
Might be if you accidentally lock your door and leave the key in the room and are SOL, you can open the door by disassembling it from the locked side since its for an interior door. i feel like it might be different for doors like garage or back door and front door
this is older but i don't get the comments about the screws being such a huge deal. Did anyone look at the freaking thing? it is an interior privacy lock. all you do to open it is stick a screwdriver or something thin into the hole on the outside. I don't know if that constitutes "picking" the lock since there isn't a key. These aren't meant to keep out the killers on purge night. it is meant for the dumbass who just opens a closed bathroom door since they weren't house trained by their parents and they wind up walking in on someone. So take a deep breath
I found this link if you are looking to know what that other little “ignored” circular piece is. And how to install it with the circle piece. th-cam.com/video/Sp_KHiA7gQY/w-d-xo.html
You just wiggle it in ...and on the backside see how it fits in there...it fits nicely yeahh..lol I'm changing a doorknob and my mind is playing tricks on me😞😕😔😔😔😔
Has anyone in the world ever thought that if it burns on the inside of a door with a knob, it is impossible to open the door because the skin `melts` off the hand!
You weren’t decisive enough must be your first time. What is the brass looking piece used for also my doorknob like yours locks so where’s the key , wtf

What did you end up doing with that circle piece? Installing one myself and not sure what to do with it
Nothing put it in the trash
Fantastic instructions. It showed the exact steps. Lots of other videos leave out the one important step. Thank You so much.

Here is the answer. It is an optional extender if the door knob does not align correctly.
Ok thank you because i was wondering about that too

Thanks so much for your very helpful video!
Thank you. Helped a lot .
Can it be any doorknob or does it have to be made for that specific door?
Thank you!!! You saved me some money! Also mine didn't require the little ring 'thingy.'

Thank you!
WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THE ROUND PIECE I HAVE ONE BUT IDK WHERE TF IT GOES, AND YOU DID NOT SHOW WHERE IT GOES
You may not need it. It is an adapter for a different style lock, it's okay if you don't need to use it.
i think its for cutting it out in the first place if its your first knob on a door.
Thank you so much
This helped...Thx
What do you do with those two small screws
May be in the part (otherside of the door he showed at the end) he didnt replace
blinkmeacs Thank You 🙏🏽
Thank you
What kind of doorknob is this
I did it. Thanks

Sapio Phile adjust the plate/hole on the wall where the latch clicks into. sounds like its offset a tad
Thank you

How about the drive?
You just wiggle it in ...and on the backside see how it fits in there...it fits nicely yeahh..lol

Has anyone in the world ever thought that if it burns on the inside of a door with a knob, it is impossible to open the door because the skin `melts` off the hand!
I can't slide it out
You weren’t decisive enough must be your first time. What is the brass looking piece used for also my doorknob like yours locks so where’s the key , wtf
It's a safety doorknob, you don't need a key, just stick a small screwdriver in there and turn.
I can't get the half moon part in the lock 😂
push the slider in and it gives you more room to get the knob in place
Thank you, great tutorial!!! 🙂
Thank you very much
