Inside the latch plate. You can pull the tab out alil to take up that space to make the door tight!!

This works fine so long as the paint on both the door and the jam are properly cured (at least a week, 4 weeks if you follow paint recommendations). If you repaint your door or frame or both, you cant close the door for weeks without it sticking and ruining the paint job. Pretty sure thats why they leave some play in the door.
Same goes with the hinge side, too close and it will stick or rub.
Does that also prevent slipping a card between the latch?
How did you line up the screws that hold the door knob in place so quickly? It always takes me like 10 minutes

Try removing the door handle before screwing both sides together. The metal flange inside the door strike is there to adjust the tightness of the close and didn't your mother tell you not to chew your finger nails!

I got the mechanism and the whole thing installed but it was to far from the latch and wouldn’t keep the door closed I tried putting pieces of cardboard behind the latch before I drilled it in to push it out and make it connect but it was a loss I can’t really do anything right now
Is there an easy way to align those two screws, it's kinda annoying I find it very hard sometimes.

I would still pre-drill. The reason for pre drilling is to avoid cracking the frame. It is very easy to do with "new pine growth" wood that these door frames are typically made from. Hope the video helped you out! Thanks for watching!

ALL my existing doors in my house that I just bought ONLY have that little round part. I'm going to have to get a chisel and carve out space for the rectangle part - OR - maybe the new ones all come with that little round piece??
What if you don’t have the cut out in the door already? Not for the knob but for the plate that goes on the door side, not the plate on the wall side. Hope that makes sense.

So was the hole in the door already there? Did you have to drill it yourself. How did you drill it. What did you use to make the hole? How did you measure where to put the hole???

I just tried replacing two entry door knobs and for whatever reason the new pieces don’t line up with the pre made holes in the doorway. The hole that it’s supposed to latch into is too high. The metal piece when screwed, covers the bottom half of the hole! On one door, the deadbolt scrapes the bottom of the hole and on the other door the latch for the knob scrapes the bottom of the hole as well!!
Without the metal part of course. Cause with it screwed to the door frame it stops it from even entering the hole
How do you pull ii off
What's the diameter of the big hole. Why need such huge hole in the first place?

The top and the bottom on the inside of the knob (indoor side of the knob) are not identical …I don’t know which way it is supposed to sit, obviously because it just locked myself in the bathroom, twice! When I look at the inside of knob (again the inside part of the knob) it has these slots with tabs coming out . The top or bottom, which is what I can’t discern, has one (horizontal) and the bottom has three (2 horizontal 1 vertical) . I guess this makes no sense. What other reason would I lock myself in the bathroom ? 😩😩😩

Hey, Vanesa! I use what is called a "wizzy roller". Just a small 3 inch paint roller and then back brushed it with an angled paint brush. Thanks for watching!
