He reminds me of some paintings of Picasso in his Rose periods, of harlequins and especially the "Family of Saltimbanques". So Harley, Salty or Picasso would be my choice.
I added some cherry shrimp to my tank a week ago and so far I have not had any issues with my betta trying to eat my shrimp. He's a very shy fish and he loves to just watch them while they pick at the plants and driftwood. I think they make him happy. They don't seem afraid to come out into the open and hang out with him so I am pretty certain he is leaving them alone. I'm so glad because I was very worried when I added them, but I've wanted shrimp so bad for so long that I just had to give it a try and see if they would get along.
Because I love your aquascapes so much, I was inspired to set up my first scape a month back in a 5 gallon nano for my work desk in my office at home. I. Am. Obsessed. I now have a shortfin betta named Patriot, four cherry shrimp, and a tiger snail living happily among my many many plants. I took all your advice that I had gathered from your videos (heavy planting, cycling tips, algae prevention, etc.) and these helped me to have a beautiful, thriving ecosystem that brings me and my family joy every day.
I picked up some good tips from this video, and the scape is very nice. The contrasts of wood shapes, soft background plants that are cloud-like and the foreground light colored stones and sand is just a very pleasing combo. That splashy looking Betta makes me think of Picasso!
Какая красота! Спасибо, что показываете не только момент запуска, но и аквариум в прогрессии. Мне кажется, что подходящее имя для этого петушка Спектр.
Great small layout with lots of details. It looks more roomy or vast then it probably is. Well done. Really liked how you added the small pebles to make a softer transition as well 😊
I really love this layout. I'm going to setup my second tank soon (a 35L for a betta) and I think I'll try using this as inspiration. Thanks for the great content!
Your videos are always inspiring. Love the vision you have for your tanks... Watching your videos is what got me into aquascaping! What you do is truly art. Thank you for sharing your time and effort:)
I love MJ aquascaping so far in TH-cam honestly this is only one things in creativity I like that skating is a passion beautiful love it please MJ look forward I would like to have reply from you
Wow! Very pretty tank. MJ is there a chance you could make a video all about filters in your nano tank please? A beginner here and I would like to make a good scape for betta but I heard they dont like strong flow. I am not sure what filter to get for small tank that that is not eye bothering.
Your designs are very specific and it looks nice. It's nice that you can draw inspiration because then you can do something of your own. Best regards from Poland. 🎬👍😎
I had a betta named Saturn for a while and I loved her! Maybe you could name this one along the lines of that, maybe one of our solar system’s planets? Jupiter, Neptune, Mars? It fits the galaxy betta name :) I love your videos!!
I am so jealous your betta gets along with the cherry shrimp! Our betta (Sprinkles - because I am a fan of food names for Bettas) is a 1-man show, he gets along with no one which always makes clean up and alge control a bit more challenging but I love him so he still gets a nice planted tank.
My betta looks similar to yours. I named him "Elvis" because he always wore sparkling suits mostly in white, red and blue - the colours of the betta 😂 He is also totally fine with the white pearl shrimps in his tank. Sometimes he sits beside them on the ground and watches them eat... as if they were his private TV-show😅
One of the best characteristics in most Bettas is that they are very happy with getting a good front row to observe what is happening , and just chill out !!! I suppose it's just as long as all the other fish would be to big to eat or faster to try. So much better when you have a cohesive mix , and I will always be adding a few new aquariums every year 💚💙
Since this is galaxy koi I'd name him 'Nebula'. Really nice scape. I enjoy it a lot. My betta also got along with shrimps to some point but then started to furiously eat the little ones as they appeared. Now only the biggest ones survived and they stopped breeding. For the betta lid is important to avoid temperature differences between water and air above the water because of the way they take air. Also you can consider adding ketapang leaf into your aquarium (or ketapang extract to avoid water color change). It will help your betta to grow big and healthy fins.
Looks great Mark! I really miss having a betta! Maybe name him Texas? Cause of the red white and blue of him, and you like the BBQ 😉 keep up the great content mate!
Really nice scape mate. I keep waiting for the videos... This scape has a different feel to it. The 2 wood structures has a space in between and that lends an element of open-ness to the scape.... I think that looks really nice... These kind of bettas look awesome...
A lovely aquascape and betta fish. I thought of Delphi as a name. Which is a shortened version of the star constellation, Delphius. Thus named after the porpoise shape of the constellation. I noticed your betta had a lovely blue sheen like a porpoise. I thought a constellation name might be appropriate for a Galaxy Koi.
Another great vid MJ. I'd call him Beni (after the koi). One small request from your follower(s), it would be nice to know which tank you took down to make this one in. Always interested in how your scapes develop 😊
I'm glad I found your channel. You recommend products and shops I can find easy. Like for example I could make DIY CO2 setup with exactly the same products and not screwing the proportions 😂 I live in NL but I don't use the language yet, so I'm happy to find your channel. Thanks for your content 😊
Wish you would do a video on how to arrange plants I can't find a video any where I know how to look after them plant them but it's arranging them so they look OK
Hey Mark , The newest addition is awesome and will quickly become another one of your living room displays that deserve the coveted shelf space that you have made so Amazing that still to this day whenever I see a furniture store , I want to check it out to see if there is anything comparable to it.......I am always leaving with the thought that maybe I should just buy some welding tools , some beautiful wood and it is usually around this time that I am not sure what I was thinking 💭 & go on about my day ! Just curious about the piece of driftwood you bought since I can't believe how much it has skyrocketed here in Minnesota in the last few years. The 1 time I remember you showed the piece from ZOO FLOTTMAN was 79 € ? Sure you put it back and it's always good to have a great deal especially when it has that rare quality that is going to make some aquascapes just for it being the missing link ? 💡 As always , you have inspired me to get out of the couch-----/----/ and make some little improvements to the conditions and the start my day with the essential weekend water changes and some Norwegian pancakes are calling!!!☕️
Hey mate! I believe the wood for this layout was about 15 euros, so not too bad. But yeah just like everything else, hardscape has become more expensive as well. Have a great day buddy
Hi MJ, Well the scape is absolutely beautiful..well done. Very inspiring.. So getting to the name of the Betta that is also mindblowing, i have to say with a name like Galaxy, the name that comes to mind is definitely 'THANOS'... Im not for bad guys, but he was powerful lol😂...
I'm here just for the koi... LOVE THEM! Awesome tank, I have one that size as well but no fish in yet... Just a few anubias and java fern. I don't have a lid as well and little scared that I might lose the fish, that's what stopping me :(
As always a fantastic result, good job. I have some questions: You don't use CO2 in this tank ? I see you use aqua soil with neocaridina, the PH KH and GH are not too low for them with that soil ? What kind of water do you use ? 100 % Osmosis water ? If so, do you use salt for remineralize ? Thanks by advance
Can you do an equipment list please? Looks like running an external filter? Make model? Is it a thermofilter or is the heater hidden in the tank? What wattage heater did you use and make?
You should call him Keith. I'm looking for a new koi beta some point to the end of Yr. I had a perla, he was black n red beautiful fish had him 4 yrs.. Love the scape, in going to go for a similar look I think. Very eye catching nice one
You could try to keep the carpet whole and weigh it down with some pebbles, maybe this way it will start rooting again. If not you can just tear the carpet into small pieces and plant them like normal
MJ, I got into aquascaping thanks to your videos! I really appreciate the little notes for the plants you used. Also, I'll be passing through Amsterdam the end of this month. Any suggestions on what I could do in a three hour layover?
I just realized there’s no filter..!? Do none of your tanks have filters? What moved the water so it doesn’t get stagnant? I’m new to This - please forgive my ignorance. 😢 Also- I’m obsessed with plants with large round leaves. I love Brazilian Pennywort.
Hi MJ, I have lots of cherry red shrimp in my 30cm cube and they continually eating my monte carlo carpet may i know the season and how i can protect my plants from them.(Note :-I my feeding my shrimp too on alternate basis.
Hi mate, great tank. I named my fist Betta Sergey because in german the Betta is called "Kampffisch" and translated in english its "fighting fish". Sergey sounds like the beginning of "sehr gefährlich" which is translated "very dangerours" found its funny, maybe because i was drunk at that time. I do have a question. How do you trim your moss? Because i just set up a tank with moss in it and im kind of afraid its going to take over the whole tank. Cheers
Great tank 🤩I have started same tank few months ago based on your channel - only with shrimps. I am still thinking about betta, my shrimps have many babies, but I am afraid … I don't have option to put betta somewhere else (my other 180l is not suitable for betta) in case of problems 😞
How should we name him? 😍 Also don't forget to smash that like button!

Cosmo like cosmos
He reminds me of some paintings of Picasso in his Rose periods, of harlequins and especially the "Family of Saltimbanques".
So Harley, Salty or Picasso would be my choice.
Rio, the colors says it all 😉
I would name him Taikan after the artist Yokoyama Taikan, or Nihonga, because he reminds me of that art style :)
Really glad you mentioned about Betta jumping. Many TH-camrs wouldn't.

Beautiful! I’m in the process of setting up my first tank and your videos have been so helpful and inspiring in planning the scape.

That looks great! I really like the little sandy beach area in the front, my betta would love that!
Piece of Art Mark! Your content is improving very well, amazing!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Glad you think so!
He looks like a piece of art so I agree with a prior comment made by R Gilroy. Picasso would be a fitting name. Great looking tank MJ!
This is some quality content!
Great small layout with lots of details. It looks more roomy or vast then it probably is. Well done. Really liked how you added the small pebles to make a softer transition as well 😊
I love your content so calming. never blasting the music lol. very beautiful tank.
Great video man! Every time you make one of these it’s always inspiring to me. Love it!
Thanks for the vid! I'm about to start my own 12 gallon tank and find myself soaking in any inspiration from all over - loved this tank!
Just finished a simple nano scape for one of my bettas and the video popped in my feed 😊
It's a very nice sharing, my friend, I'm watching it with love ❤
tanks in the backgound looking scrumptious 😍😍😍😍
ay wait did the crystals die??
Yeah... :(
@@MJAquascaping oh noooo , idk how people get them to multiply so quickly ...must be magic lol
You are an inspiration. Single handedly made me want to start aquascaping again after years of leaving it.
you should!! it's so rewarding!
I am counting the minutes for your new vide❤️❤️
Nice one Mark.
I really loved the scape and planting in this tank.
Hope the betta is happy in his new home.
I hope so too!
Love this scape. He is a gorgeous betta, he needs a beautiful name! I think Apollo or Aries suits him
See you got the summer vibes, lets goo
Stunning as always! And what a gorgeous Betta too...I think I would name him Nebula if he was mine ❤
Good timing! I just sat down for lunch! 🤩
Hope you enjoy!
Beautiful tank!
I love the triangular layout! I had a galaxy koi betta who recently passed (he was pretty old)- his name was Basho💙
Looks similar to a MD set up. Looks great!
"Pollock" is a fun double entendre for such a color-spattered fish! Great video, thanks.
Beautiful betta!
Beautiful tank and the betta is stunning 😍
great tank like always!!! 👍🏻
the betta is a galaxy... i love the guardians of the galaxy and the colours remind me to 'drax the destroyer'! 😁
MJ you´re extremely talented. And all your individual hard work appears in every video. Thank you. Regards from Brazil.
Thanks so much!
I too just bought a galaxy koi beta and he is sooo gorgeous
I really love this layout. I'm going to setup my second tank soon (a 35L for a betta) and I think I'll try using this as inspiration. Thanks for the great content!
beautiful tank man!
Helmut is a good name for this beautiful creature ❤
Your videos are always inspiring. Love the vision you have for your tanks... Watching your videos is what got me into aquascaping! What you do is truly art. Thank you for sharing your time and effort:)
He needs a name that is classy and matches his sweet demeanor. I'm thinking Milo will be perfect for him.
This is so beautiful ❤
Stunning ❤❤
This scape is awesome you’ve inspired me to redo my bettas tank
Thx again for you’re vids it’s such a pleasure to watch 😊🇦🇺🐠
Glad you like them!
He is Absolutely Fine . . . and so is that tank!!
Underrated. Beautiful aquascape. Happy fish. ♥️
I been waiting video from you and finally! 😂 i love it!
I really like how you tell us a little about each plant with the names
Beautiful setup ❤
Thank you! 🤗

Everything is so beautiful; including the music so relaxing. I enjoy watching your videos. Makes me relaxed! Thank you 🙏🏽😌😌❤
Wow! Very pretty tank.
MJ is there a chance you could make a video all about filters in your nano tank please? A beginner here and I would like to make a good scape for betta but I heard they dont like strong flow. I am not sure what filter to get for small tank that that is not eye bothering.
Favorite scape so far
Your designs are very specific and it looks nice. It's nice that you can draw inspiration because then you can do something of your own. Best regards from Poland. 🎬👍😎
Thank you so much 😀
Absolutely stunning work! ❤
Thank you so much!
I had a betta named Saturn for a while and I loved her! Maybe you could name this one along the lines of that, maybe one of our solar system’s planets? Jupiter, Neptune, Mars? It fits the galaxy betta name :) I love your videos!!
cant wait to see how that betta's color matures as he ages!
I am so jealous your betta gets along with the cherry shrimp! Our betta (Sprinkles - because I am a fan of food names for Bettas) is a 1-man show, he gets along with no one which always makes clean up and alge control a bit more challenging but I love him so he still gets a nice planted tank.
Complimenti bravissimo

One of the best characteristics in most Bettas is that they are very happy with getting a good front row to observe what is happening , and just chill out !!! if I was in your place I would name him Pluto , as always great scape MJ !!😃
Since this is galaxy koi I'd name him 'Nebula'.
Really nice scape. I enjoy it a lot.
My betta also got along with shrimps to some point but then started to furiously eat the little ones as they appeared. Now only the biggest ones survived and they stopped breeding.

Really nice scape mate. I keep waiting for the videos...
This scape has a different feel to it. The 2 wood structures has a space in between and that lends an element of open-ness to the scape.... I think that looks really nice...
These kind of bettas look awesome...
Orion would be a cool name for this galaxy beta ;)
👍👍👍
Awesome job! I think Cosmo would be a great name.
Nice! 😍
"Absolutely fine" 😀😀
Skittles is one hell of a good looking betta ;)
Nice work 👍🏻
A lovely aquascape and betta fish.

Just curious about the piece of driftwood you bought since I can't believe how much it has skyrocketed here in Minnesota in the last few years. The 1 time I remember you showed the piece from ZOO FLOTTMAN was 79 € ? Hey mate! I believe the wood for this layout was about 15 euros, so not too bad. But yeah just like everything else, hardscape has become more expensive as well. Have a great day buddy
You should play last 2 min only B-rool to enjoy your tank. It’s really beautiful....!
I think Akiro or Sakura (two Japanse names) would fit very well for a name. Beautiful fish!
Not sure why, but I love the name Haku 😀
Haku like Spirited Away! Great film
The betta with the purple hue to it would’ve been nice too
I'm here just for the koi... LOVE THEM!
Awesome tank, I have one that size as well but no fish in yet... Just a few anubias and java fern. I don't have a lid as well and little scared that I might lose the fish, that's what stopping me :(
As always a fantastic result, good job. I have some questions:
You don't use CO2 in this tank ?
I see you use aqua soil with neocaridina, the PH KH and GH are not too low for them with that soil ?
What kind of water do you use ? 100 % Osmosis water ? If so, do you use salt for remineralize ?
Thanks by advance
Hey!
I do use CO2 in this tank
I also use water from the tap, and this water is ph 7 kh 8 and gh 9.
@@MJAquascaping Thanks for your reply
Can you do an equipment list please? Looks like running an external filter? Make model? Is it a thermofilter or is the heater hidden in the tank? What wattage heater did you use and make?
Bobose is perfect
You should call him Keith.
I'm looking for a new koi beta some point to the end of Yr. I had a perla, he was black n red beautiful fish had him 4 yrs..
Love the scape, in going to go for a similar look I think. Very eye catching nice one
Do you keep the water lower than that normally? Like I'm afraid the fish will jump.
Great video as always. Unrelated question, any advice for rescaping using an existing established carpet? Thanks
You could try to keep the carpet whole and weigh it down with some pebbles, maybe this way it will start rooting again.
If not you can just tear the carpet into small pieces and plant them like normal
Thanks for the tutorial... may I suggest the name Neptune for your new betta...
MJ, I got into aquascaping thanks to your videos! I really appreciate the little notes for the plants you used.
Also, I'll be passing through Amsterdam the end of this month. Any suggestions on what I could do in a three hour layover?
watching youtube for 3 hours sounds nice😂
That’s awesome 😎
And a 3 hour layover at Schiphol airport? That’s not that much to be honest, so I would just chill at a bar over there 😊
I have a female galaxy they are beautiful and full of intrigue :)
I just realized there’s no filter..!? Do none of your tanks have filters? What moved the water so it doesn’t get stagnant? I’m new to This - please forgive my ignorance. 😢
Also- I’m obsessed with plants with large round leaves. I love Brazilian Pennywort.
This one has a small external canister filter 😊 it’s hidden behind the tank, and I’m using glass pipes to keep it pleasing to the eye 👌🏼
Koiku is a cool name
Hi MJ, I have lots of cherry red shrimp in my 30cm cube and they continually eating my monte carlo carpet may i know the season and how i can protect my plants from them.(Note :-I my feeding my shrimp too on alternate basis.
Keeping with the outer space them i think Neptune or pluto is a good name
Creo que Kyoto es un buen nombre para el Betta.
Nice scape but I liked the first tank the betta was in more suitable for him .I name all my bettas "Flamenco" followed by a number😄
Cheers
Yeah trimming moss is annoying... I always shut the filter off, then trim, and then immediately siphon out all the trimmings
I love your videos, perfection. Also, you're very handsome. And please call him Casper! (the friendly bandit).
Beautiful aquascape. What percentage do you run the Chihiros c2 at?
70% for 8 hours :)
Great tank 🤩I have started same tank few months ago based on your channel - only with shrimps. I am still thinking about betta, my shrimps have many babies, but I am afraid … I don't have option to put betta somewhere else (my other 180l is not suitable for betta) in case of problems 😞
Time for a third tank 😁
Bruce the betta
Do you have a video about the scape at 2:37? That is stunning!!!
