Tips for Plebe Summer and Applying to USNA

List of things you should do if you're applying to the Academy:
1. Get in shape (participate in sports)
2. Do well academically
3. Take leadership roles. Lots of them. (ECA's, clubs, sports teams, etc.)
4. Do community service.
5. Develop an articulate statement of why you want to come to USNA (make it something unique and memorable).
6. Get to know your congress rep and send them a formal letter expressing your interest in attending the Naval Academy. They are the ones that will be nominating you, after all.
Tips for Plebe Summer:
1. Get in shape (you should be able to comfortably run between 3-5 miles, be able to do around 40 push-ups and 60 sit-ups minimum)
2. Have a positive attitude.
3. Get to know your company mates well.
4. Stick through it, it's only 6 weeks.
5. It isn't about getting everything right, it's about not giving up when you fail.
6. Care packages from mom/other people help a lot.
