      It's amazing the motivation that the fear starving to death will give one. Whack away with a pick at solid rock all day everyday, no hydraulics, no mask, safety measures, no oxygen.

    Very cool Jeff. The guy who I was looking into filing that claim over on Shadow Mountain with lives in Pahrump. By the way that claim was claimed just a couple days before we filed on it. Bummer but now I'm living in NV so it's all for the better I suppose. I sent him your video to watch. I should be in Pahrump sometime in the fall so I'll be sure to go see the museum and the Johnny Mine. I'd love to see more videos like this. I'm really more into the history of mining and all the camps and people than I am in the gold.

    Have you ever fantasized about having a super-power? Most folks wish for the ability to fly, or super strength or speed, perhaps x-ray vision, or maybe psychokinesis.
    Me? I would love the ability to touch an object, and be able to see into it's past, back to when such things were in their prime. Imagine the chance to see this mine and mill in full operation! To see how people lived, how they worked, and how they survived!

    • @elkslayer7399
      @elkslayer7399 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stope is the Hole the miners created as they were digging and following the Gold.....Stoping is the actual work of digging into a mountain with a table spoon like Jeff does..lol or drilling, blowing it up...or just willing it to leave the ground like Jeff has been practicing....

    • @canufi6my
      @canufi6my 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      First, a shaft is sunk, next tunnels are struck following the ore vein, then stopes follow the vein upward, sometimes to the surface. The process is repeated until the ore vein runs out. AEDD PS. I worked the Johnny Mine for 14 years.

      With some of the awesome modern tools we now have for mining it would be a breeze to clean out collapse and make a nice clean smooth path to move in and out of [carbide tipped face cutting machines]
      And with rubber treaded crawlers one could pull rubber wheeled ore carts or just make a crawler with a dump bed on it and drive in and out, even on grades way too steep to use carts!
      That says nothing about conveyor belts! With those, you just keep on digging and the ore just keeps on rolling! (~_^)-b
