    This has to be the best product demo I’ve seen on YT. Low key, no hype, complete explanation of all features, methodical. Very well done, indeed. 👍

    Proud owner of a AT Habitat on a diesel RAM. It’s a tried and true design; that’s why it’s been around for so long. We optioned for artic tern window on drivers and passenger side, rear window, and front access window. A lot of room for our family of three (soon to be family of four) plus our two doggies. Interior room is unmatched by all other campers out there when fully opened (i.e., no need to set-up or move sleeping panels out of the way). Other camper configurations work for others respective needs. Our AT Habitat has and continues to provide our family joy and peace of mind when out on adventures. Lastly, Mario and AT stand by their products and provide customer satisfaction above and beyond.

    This is a very informational video and I love seeing all the positive comments. That said I have something so juvenile to ask that I'm debating putting it on here. The question is this. I'm trying to figure out what advantages there are to this (at a very high cost) to putting a tent on the ground? Our truck camping set up now currently consists of a sleeping tent and two pop up tents (bought from Walmart) that allow covered and screened in cooking area and relaxing area. The truck bed is reserved for gear carrying and has a cover to it. I was really interested in looking at these until I really started thinking about what the advantages are versus the cost of 14K?

    Yes. Those flip-open topper tent is the bomb. I don't think I'd mind one that was clankier, and didn't rely on gossamer-thin gas struts. Just looks like an obvious point of failure. Maybe that bit's just a little too fussy for hard use by people who had a beer before setting up the sleeping quarters. Something simple, mechanical, and bulletproof. Have some kind of hook or loop on top, at the front, and maybe a slot at the hinge, where you can fish a long pole from the back to the front, with a ring or hook at the end to snag the loop or hook on the front. Then with the long pole extended out about as far from the truck as the topper is long, bear down on the end and lift the front of the topper. Once it's close to half way, the weight's off it. But your gas struts are at a mechanical disadvantage, and I can see the thing breaking if I'm the one using it.
    I looked really hard at some of the Australian tent trailers that folded open on a hinge the same way. Properly executed, they are the slickest tent setups, and you double or triple the footprint. I've seen them triple the footprint by folding out in more than one direction.
    I have an offroad teardrop camper on order, so of course I start seeing these camper ideas. The main reason I didn't go with a truck camper was I like to operate out of a base camp for a few or several days running, and you can't do that with a tent sticking out the top. That's why I'm also more partial to the idea of parking adjacent to or under a decent free-standing shelter.

    Great Demo!! I love this product. Will seriously consider this when I get my new 2025 or 2026 Tundra. I need to have access to all the features of the original bed, which I do with this product- some bed covers do not. I'd be interested to know if flip-up windows on the side come in a non-see through or utility option.

    Nice unit if you have a pickup. You use to have one of these that you had mounted on a Jeep but I no longer see that in your videos unless I’m missing it. Want something like this for my 1997 Land Cruiser. Guys I’ll need to build my own from fiberglass or carbon fiber. I need to visit your website to see where yours at in Oregon. Home I’d in eastern Idaho but used to live in Oregon.

      A few adventurous folks have gone through the effort of flipping their Habitat for that reason. I originally thought of doing that, but after mounting a Frontrunner roof rack (recovery gear, spare parts, extra water/fuel), I decided I like my Habitat exactly as it is.

    • @WallyKuhns
      @WallyKuhns 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. I've had a Habitat on my F350 for 4 years, love it. Everything closes up from the inside. I do a lot of solo travel for work and often stealth camp using the truck bed floor (6.75 ft.). Because I have some gear cabinetry, I have 31" (width) of space remaining, perfect for various air mattresses.
