I drove from Arizona to Arkansas to look at a car I came back empty handed. Car was rough and had a title issue.

Had a similar situation with an E36 BMW I bought, never asked if it was a clean reg vehicle, buying from a paralegal everything should be on the up and up, but went to register the car, it was a write off and I needed a salvage title, and boy were those some hoops to jump through here in Canada

Super great spot on advice on buying a classic. I've bought lots over the years and usually go get them with the furthest was when me and my wife flew to San Francisco from Western Canada in 2008 and drove the 99 OBS Cop Tahoe home from there and still ave it. Yep, classic vehicles make memories. I think u had 6/7000 Subcribers when I subcribed to your channel and am enjoying your content as you grow. Its great you have Lauren on board while doing your dream job. I will be sending you license plate or tag a you guys call them in the USA. 😀

A friend of mine experienced the same issue, he bought a truck and numbers matched title. He sent the title in and hadn't looked at the tilte when he got it back. A couple years later he decided to sell it and potential buyer noticed on number didnt match, it was a 2 instead of a S. he contacted the state and went round and around and finally got it corrected. He had a picture of the original title before sending it off. By the way we live in illinois, one the the hardest states to get something titled.

Great video and information. Barrett Jackson uses Woodside Credit. I was just there last week. Another nationwide collector car financier is JJ Best Bank and I’m sure they have plenty more.

    So much good information Josh!
Before the Internet, I was going to buy a 73 Blazer 3 hours away I saw in the Auto/RV trader paper. It was a total waste of time, the owner claimed it was all original, basically it was junk...!
    Great video

I live in Ind. , about seven years ago i bought a 1978 F-150 4x4 through a flipper. The truck was out of Portland, Oregon , truck came back clean but the BMV wouldn't let me change title cause it was out of state . Had to get a court order title ! , judge was like this is a waste of time every thing was legal and in order !! Took me a year to get this straightened out , still have the truck !!! It is clean and only comes out on nice days !!!!!

    My rules when buying:
    1. Must have a title if in a state that issues for classics.
    2. If signature on title is in the wrong spot, seller must fix it.
    3. If there is a title issue, seller must fix.
    Buying issues I've had:
    1. Bought one off ebay once. Not quite what it was supposed to be, but I wasn't scammed.
    2. Two sales back a seller signed in the wrong spot. The current seller had no idea how to find the seller, and the "DMV" required an affidavit byt the former seller. Fortunately, the seller "found" the guy, got the affidavit signed, and got a new title issued so they could sign it over to me.

Appreciate the info on truck titles and vin. We purchased a new fire truck, never once thought about checking the vin, once we got back in our state for the tags we realized the title didn’t match the vin…thinking the wrong chassis was put under the truck in the build.

If all the numbers were the same except for one, the two was an S that wouldn’t stopped me, that is a common mistake it would have been fixed easily now if more than one number was not the same that I would’ve walked away!!

In order to remedy this in most states a couple steps have to occur. First vin must be verified by a state official like, DMV or highway patrol. Often an etching will be done with paper and pencil on the physical vin plate. Secondly, the seller must register the vehicle in their name and a new title will need to be printed which means taxes and registration responsibilities are completed then and only then can this be legitimate.

I inadvertently bought a highly collectible motorcycle with a Title that had a VIN error. Fortunately I am close with my local BMV and Police Department and was able amend the VIN. There were two numbers flipped and it was an obvious oversight since all the numbers were correct. just out of order. But I agree 100%......Vet your purchases wisely! Same with my finances. It's MY business and in order to keep it my business I have to be smart about it. So far, at 58 years old, I've managed to keep most of my business my own and keep the ole i r of s oblivious. Hopefully the gent gets the Blazer title squared away and you get another shot at it. BTW, I've owned 14 OBS trucks in my day and currently own two. 1995 GMT400 C3500 Single Cab Long Bed with 79,000 original miles and a 1999 Classic (OBS) C2500. Both are constantly getting compliments. Love your Dually the most I think. Cheers! Zip~

Had a similar situation happen, but dmv was at fault when re titling. They put a typo on the vin. Even though it was the dmv that was at fault it still took close to a year to get it corrected

Tough luck on the BLAZER.... If he get's it straight and you go back, don't forget that NC requires their title signings to be notarized. For example, I live in SC and they won't transfer a title from NC without the notary stamp on it.

💯 right! My wife deals a lot in cash in her business and she tried to deposit a large sum of cash and the bank wouldn’t take it. She had to make it three deposits and show the bank invoices where she earned the money!

I tell people all the time go look at or have someone look at it. I’ve had a few friends get something that wasn’t what was said it was. Here in New Hampshire 20 years old don’t need a title bill of sale but if there’s a title out there they want it if not they’ll do a vin verification with a cop or local garage. I’ve bought one vehicle off of pictures and luckily it was a cream puff 83 Chevy dually with 62k on it

Something to consider when dealing with cash. I bought my 1967 c10 two years ago from the actual builder. Guy wanted cash. Went to BofA to withdraw and they said that they had to “order” the money. It took three days for the cash to arrive, so keep that in mind when buying. Banks don’t keep large sums of money on hand. Don’t lose out on that bucket list classic because the bank held you up.

Man I forgot to mention that. I had to call around to a couple of bank branches to make sure they had the funds. One of them said they had to order it and another (thankfully) had it ready to go.

    • @arnoldrodriguez3803
      @arnoldrodriguez3803 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@yeahbuddygarage you must live in a large metro area with multiple branches nearby. We have only two within 25miles of each other and neither had it. I was able to get $5k from my branch that day to give to the seller as a down payment to hold the truck. I was really afraid he was getting cold feet and would back out of the deal and not sell it. This deal could have died an early death thanks to my bank’s cash on hand policy.
