I loved that chat unanimously agreed that Banana Guard was low S/high A. BG is so easy to combo with, has multiple kill moves, quick ground to air control, and his neutral B buff-up makes anything a potential kill move at high enough precent
He is literally shaggy with a spear. I'm not joking the only that makes him worse than shaggy is that his side special has a lot of endlag and gains no armor or stacks weaken when buffed
@@daniellink8727 His side special has wayyyyy more range than Shaggy's. His normals also have way more range. He has nowhere near the combos Shaggy has, but all of them are much easier to execute. If at all he's the "easy mode Shaggy".

almost 1200 wins with harley and I completely switched to Banana Guard as my main I think BG gotta be top 3 rn
@ThefamousMrcroissant shaggy can cross the whole stage if u power up and side special. BG can do half the stage max. Plus shaggy's side special is a lot faster and safer. BG's vulnerable to attacks from above where shaggy isnt. But yeah he's basically a beginner shaggy.

Stripe deserves at least B tier imo. His forward air has an insane disjoint and comes out fast. He can easily combo off sawblade. His up and forward tilts are also really solid.
As someone who plays as him, I'm surprised by his placement here. I'm no pro by any means, but he definitely feels more powerful in this compared to the beta, combos are so much easier with him too.
He also has a much easier time killing now. Up air, Skateboard, and even up tilt are all kill moves despite their issues overall.

I was top 1K with him in beta and played him for the matchups my lebron couldn’t keep up in, and the strings stripe could do were devastating

I try to play Stripe, and while I can rack up damage I find it hard to kill with this guy

Right I main him and the amount of projectiles you can have up on screen at once (tracking projectiles if you do it along a mars flag) makes the game almost unplayable for the person trying to get back on the inside.
I actually think he’s by far the best zoner in the game
I get so many people just jumping off the edge after I zone them to death and they’ve hit me for 4 damage … he’s crazy good

From the 3 tier lists I have seen so far, including this one, this is definitely one I can't agree with a lot of placements.
Ain't no way you gonna tell me Stripe is on same power level as Velma when she was heavily nerfed, or Finn and Taz on the same tier as Bugs, Arya and Batman... And this two above T&J?

Yes, Stripe is rare to see. But he's nowhere as jank or in desperate need of buffs like Velma. Moreover, Stripe does have a better matchup VS Jason due to faster attacks + ways to break through it.
I disagree with a lot of placements on the tier list. Some of them are very fair and totally agree with (T&J, WW, BG, BA, Bugs, Batsy, Steven, etc), but others are just weird.
Heck, he even mentions they haven't seen a Taz, and he's placed that high. And I DO main Taz and from all of those on that tier (except Finn) he struggles to get an opening. Rick, Morty, T&J, LeBron and arguably Marvin make it a struggle for him, and is that high? Ain't no way

I can’t tell if Shaggy is really good, just easy to play, if I’m good at using him, or if my opponents sucked. But I had just had a long run of like 10 matches and I won 7 or 8. And no rematches too
Shaggy is actually really good, he has a ladder combo that kills at 45%, his kicks are lethal and I'm pretty sure that you can just go up tilt, up air and up special and it just kills at like 50% it's madness and he's just overall really good and has no actual weaknesses, he even has a projectile, like Shaggy is definetly low to mid S tier
Food for thought, Tier lists are not be-all-end-all reviews of characters. I know it shouldn't have to be said, but some people will take a look at this and say "I should never play Velma."
But she's just as capable of winning matches, it's that she requires more setup than others in order to do similar things.
It's not that she doesn't have any advantages. She's actually kinda fun with a 2v2 partner that you're communicating with and you can bully some characters into just not being able to play. She also has a semi-ranged ledge-covering tool that spikes with her down-attack on the ground, which is actually pretty safe due to the distance her hurtbox is from the active word-bubble hitbox. Like anyone offstage is either going to have to trade and if they try to airdodge through you, you can catch them with a turnaround side-light and start another combo from there. She's got options....but other characters just have more / easier to use options.
Black adam can just carry you off the top of the screen with his up attacks and his full movement flight recoveries canceled into even more up-attacks.
Really, what's being rated here isn't how capable a character is of being played, but how much work you need to do to setup your gameplan as that character.
There's also a tons of little matchup variances where some characters just poop on others. Jake kinda gets bullied by characters like Harley for example, but he makes characters like Wonder Woman, superman, and Iron Giant cry because he's just got so much range and they lack the mobility to really pressure him when he's just chuckin' out aimed F-airs.
But that alone doesn't maker wonderwoman outright bad. She still has one of the meatiest F-airs herself, and her side combo does some low-profile stuff which makes her great for chaining against smaller characters like Marvin, who can walk under some people's side/neutrals like they just don't exist, even without crouching.
Just remember at the end of the day to play who you enjoy. Cheesy, probably overstated, but still.
All that out of the way, This tier list feels about right.. There's some places where it makes perfect sense, others where I'm going to need to see more to really get why they're where they're at here. I'm no pro player, I've only got 500-ish wins under my belt, so please don't beat me to death for this.
But the take of "We haven't seen them maybe they're bad" isn't entirely true. Velma has some potential, I feel. she just has some weird mechanics that keep her from being super easy to pick up and play.
A good way to think of her is kind of like a weird zoner-support in 2v2, and in 1v1's she ends up having to use her stubby Fair for mobile pressure and her side-attacks on ground for coverage since you can delay them a ton and dodge out of recovery to make it safe.
Her Neutral attack on ground or air, when charged, tracks to ALLIES hit with her neutral B, then causes herself and them to explode when she charges enough to make the beam from her megaphohe make contact. In 2v2's she reduces cooldowns with her buffs, and while it might not seem like much, it could be the difference between getting having those options and not. Like if you play with someone who uses a LOT of cooldowns, that could be a daymaker for them.
In 1v1's Velma does suffer and has to do too much for too little. But if she had a bit more range on Fair attack and make her forward special on the ground have a followup for after the throw, she'd be easy B IMO.

@@LayIowAlo Ayy~ Sorry. Didn't mean to be preachy or anything. I just kinda enjoyed Velma, and have been playing pretty well with her against a few specific characters. Her matchups REALLY hurt though. Like rick? Shuts her down hard. He just does everything she does, but better and with more reach, though his Fair isn't quite as good....but that might just be me. His always just feels weird whereas I can float forward then back then forward again then release the flashlight more consistently. Like doing little fakeout charging float attacks. But he does WAY better in the long range department by FAR. And his recovery? I'd KILL to have his recovery on a couple of different characters, actually lol.
She's surprisingly competent vertically though. Her Dair's reach can be a hassle but her up-air lightbulb attack is kinda solid. She can ladder and do some decent damage with it, though she certainly needs more "reps" to kill than say, Harley or iron giant.

As someone who mained iron giant in the beta when he was terrible this makes me very happy
I think a big reason we don’t see Velma’s is because we’re still in the first rotation of free characters, and no new players are going to buy Velma. There’s too many more enticing options, and Joker being the newest and most expensive, players aren’t going to use the little currency they can earn to buy Velma. I got her in the beta, I think she’s going to take off in the future once people realize how high her skill cap, but we shall see.
Makes sense to me when you put it that way about Velma.

@@johnmokeypants2753 they nerfed it, it no longer covers the entire map. Still a good ability, though it could be a little longer. She’s got plenty of other range based moves.
Well I main Velma and will be streaming soon. I can say she is D tier but she has some things.
Not even because that. People that played beta most got Velma either because liked her (my case) or just had all characters.
Reason you don't see her is because her nerfs were massive, there's not many ways for her to get in, and all her attacks are very stubby with little to none kill power. In singles, she basically has to play the game of the opponent because she can't force others to her things like before. Teams she's slightly better, but why would you use her when other characters can give better support or better fire power.

Damn Iron Giant really has had a comeback since beta. I recall people saying he was the absolute worst character in the game before it shut down.

As a Joker main, I knew right off the bat the moment I tried him out that he was going to be top tier. That character is cracked

I think he’s bottom of B tier at best… he had some really drastic changes to his kit that have made him much worse than he was before the beta ended
I think taz is underrated, his side special still pretty decent and his up special is pretty much a guarante kill if they're over 100 points
Yea Taz isn't horrible because he can rush down a lot of low tiers but he just gets outspaced/prioritzed in my experience by anyone good who rushes him - you just can land any attacks on fast characters. Maybe it's different LAN but online Taz is a real mixed bag. Side and Up special are good but a good player will just plan and avoid them and you don't have anything in neutral after that to eat a character like Joker or the ridiculously easy execution that is Shaggy (Shaggy kick is tornado but he has it constantly and can make it 2x stronger than tornado with charge.)

I use to be a god at Jake in the alpha and beta. When i replayed him on launch i thought i was just playing terribly bad, then everyone i've seen has said Jake has been brutally nerfed :((
Seems like this game has a pretty balanced meta. Too bad the game has tons of greedy microtransactions and slow gameplay.

Still was fun in beta but holy shit the game is like a proper fighter now without people flying across the screen with constant invincibility in instant moves
@@doug2555 The problem was the dodge spam, not the game speed. They decided to tone down the dodges (which is good) but they also went overboard with the speed reduction

Idk what they are referring to, but I’ve been playing a ton and haven’t seen like 80 percent of the roster, I’ve seen a shit ton of BG, Finn, Jason, and Mortys. Haven’t gone against a lot of the other ones not once. Forgot Steven was even in the game till this tier list

-Stripe: at least a C tier, A at best
-Marvin: Definitely an A teir! Bro has some insane combo potential
-Jason: B tier. Slow, but has crazy damage
-Tom and Jerry: Definitely S tier! Can do some devious combos with those characters, and some crazy traps!

As a Gaenet main i give her B-tier ... shes easy to read BUT she has options for everything youbwant and if you can consistently get rhythm and shock effects your team will eat

Both Jason and Marvin have weird placements.
Jason is definitely a C- due to his stubby normals and while he hits like a truck... You could just properly wait for his teleport or outdo him with any options your character has since he can't answer fast enough.
As for Marvin wherever Rick goes, Marvin is slightly behind since both have kind-of the same playstyle, just that Marvin has less kill options. His ray gun in the air was also nerfed, but overall solid character that requires a lot of setup.

Stripe in D tier is insane. He’s at least a A tier, when you know how to do his combos and with the chainsaw it’s crazy
I personally feel like Garnet is slept on. She has good damage and with the right perks you can literally grab someone and fly off the stage for an instant kill.
Honnestly, Stripe is really good! Easy A for me. Even with gun changes. Jump on your skate/chomp or anything and shoot without distance restrictions and projectile time travel is really OP. The chainsaw dude! So powerful too...

Not that I blame people for thinking Finn is good because I and many people can still cook with him. But I would put him B tier AT BEST.
He just stuggles way too much to get in due to the speed changes and coin dash being gone, and I've noticed he can struggle to kill, too.
And I don't think he should be put with the other characters in A tier as they all have a touch of death; you could die immediately playing against any of the others in that tier, but Finn doesn't really have that in spades like those other characters.
So I'd say he's good, not amazing. - B tier.

I thought I was just bad because I can't kill at all with Finn. BMO/highfive, dash attack, and up special feel like his only kill options. I usually get my opponent to 150 before actually being able to kill them with anything besides those 3 moves, and all 3 of them have problems.
Dash attack is a stray hit that you probably won't ever hit unless your opponent is playing reclessly,
BMO/Highfive have a large cooldown,
up special needing to be comboed into.
Both dash attack and up special also make you drop up a ton of coins and since BMO/Highfive have a massive cooldown for full power, it's as if the devs really don't want Finn to be able to kill.
Meanwhile Superman can kill you at 36, (I saw my teammate die at 36% by Superman at center stage and I'm still confused by this)
He also really struggles to get in (like you said), especially against projectile characters where it feels like he literally can't do anything against them (especially if he lacks coins) and then he just gets circle camped.
If he can't hit, he can't get coins, and if he can't get coins he can't get in.
This game has some of the worst balancing I think I've ever seen. Every character feels either insanely obnoxious or ridiculously pathetic with little in between.
(I'd also like to add that I'm not new to the genre. I've played thousands of hours of Smash and hundreds of hours of Rivals of Aether)
I was looking up tier lists and stumbled across this video to see if there was a reason I felt this way.
Maybe I am just rubbish at Multiversus, but it really feels like they could have done better, especially with the balancing.

Poor Jason gets combo-ed by everyone in the game. Banana Guard real talk is S tier, as his aerials and ground attacks have huge knockback, damage and range, and with his special making him buff himself, that makes him all the more crazy. I've made so many people in 1v1s walk off stage from me playing Banana Guard.

Garnet is at least B tier. She has a really easy air combo and some good kill confirms. Most people lose to her in 1v1s. The only reason she wouldn't be higher is cause her install takes too long, and you get easily punished by using it.

Stripe is bottom B tier. He has great combos and always threatens off stages with his gun but lacks projectiles and tech to push him to top spots. He gets diffed by a lot of the upper tiers.
I dont get the marvin hate at all, i think hes a slept on character albeit not exceptionally good like bugs and joker. Hes pretty fun, especially in doubles.

Ngl after seeing Evo champ/dev Nakat's tier list its bery interesting to see Hbox's reasoning for his placements.
But i am glad good players are saying Bugs id not S tier hes top of a or A tier quality character.
People assume Tom and Jerry are still good because they are hard to play and Void makes them look good which is more about how good Void is then Tom and Jerry. They are low B to high C atm. Most characters have armor on their moves or their moves flat out kill Jerry, and the projectile perk as well is a hard counter.

Imma need to see whoever told man to put giant in number 1. Whoever they are is beyond gasing. Without his infinite, hes combo food for days. And youre not stopping a single projectile character to save your life. Bugs stomps his shit into the ground

@kidfury1114 he's a low mmr stomper but when your mmr is over 10k, you should just not touch him unless you want others to test their infinite combos on you
Seems like a lot of "pros" are gassing up giant even though he's in a terrible spot. Cringe loops and infinites don't make a character good, that shit shouldn't be in the game. Period.
Iron Giants infinite can start off of literally any hit at all and his attack range is ridiculous. With his weight, projectile characters have to hit 20 projectiles, while Iron Giant only needs to barely scrape them once. When a characters worst matchup is 60-40 in his favor, then that means he's #1 with no contest.
@shybandit521 you realize almost ever character can infinite giant right? And unless your mmr is over 10k, you've never seen how good players can easily abuse his size and start up.

I just started playing the game again since Jason Voorhees was added, I'm gonna solo main him, I'm a horror fan fanatic.
I feel like we haven't seen a lot of the characters because people still have to unlock them

Marvin is easily A tier u can fight from far and up close he has a bunch of projectiles playing on the field
Steven has basically zero range. He is not an s Tier character until he has better damage options and more than 1 kill confirm

Jason C tier is wild, the only matchup I struggle against with him is Harley. Every solo queue I go into with him I win, and in 2’s he’s rlly fucking strong. He’s at least high B. He has good movement for a heavy, and crazy carry potential.
Jason is D tier. One of the worst characters in the game at the moment. Unusable character against competent opponents. Jason has non-existent down airs (both special and normal are total arse), very simple comboes that go nowhere and no means to get in. He does have super high knockback, which makes him a perfect noobstomper. Super strong earials, but he never wants to be in the air nor can he launch.
Someone else described it best: Jason is broken ON PAPER. In reality he's trash.
@@ThefamousMrcroissant I mean I’m playing against people with 1500 wins and am holding up fine against them. Every character (besides Velma) in this game feels viable. It’s just up to the player to get good with the matchups. His down air is a really good combo starter, and his ability to juggle people vertically is rlly good. Also being in the air is fine with him, he has ways of getting himself back on the ground. His air down special is a great move. Also his neutral b is a great get the F off me move. To me it just sounds like you don’t like playing the character and or just lose with him a lot. The only matchup I’ve struggled with Jason is Harley. Every other character I can body. Skill issue

Actually pretty good with Jason. I do think he needs bigger hitboxes and more reach cause every bladed character in the game has insane reach and he feels like he doesn’t at all on some moves. And can be combo food for people like bugs bunny and Harley and you’re probably having a hard time with Harley is cause when I was playing against one and parried by mistake then I went back and looked at the footage. During that parry she was completely above my head doing that triple kick thing and when she landed she would’ve been behind me, so she had no real chance at touching me and I parried which means if I didn’t I would’ve gotten hit. Things like that need to be fixed especially for someone as slow as Jason is his hurt boxes shouldn’t be that large
@@zeen9505 Nah, you're just bad and playing against bad people. Jason will never be viable against competent players with his current skill set. You ignored everything I said presumably because you subconsciously know I am right already. You have a character with no combo routes, a huge hitbox, strong upairs but no launcher, some of the worst specials and downairs in the entire game only offset by "potentially early kill potential". It's like Zangief in Streetfighter. The only way you can make it work is by outplaying the opponent by absurd degrees (like most people say "you need to read the opponent with Jason"; i.e. you're at a perpetual disadvantage).
1500 wins means nothing in this game. Go play ranked when it comes out and try to get anywhere near top 10% with this clown character. Don't blame me if you end up throwing yourself under a bus in the process though.

I’ve been playing Jason since it’s came out have been taken care of a lot of people. His Nair is top 5 and his axe has reach. If a character is about 80, you can kill confirm with a 3 hit combo with the teleport. The bed combo sets Jason for juggling in the air and you can grab them in the air. His Dair special hits for two and does stupid damage. The only con for Jason is that he’s slow and need more Armor
Also I know you don’t know about fighting games because Zangief is considered top tier in SF6 RIGHT NOW. So the fact that you are making a comparison between Jason and Zangief is more a compliment than a disadvantage lol

Stripe I wouldn't put in D Tier, he's got some interesting tools to use like the sawblade and the dynamite, plus some great aerials. Not great, but at least C-B tier, D is just too low. He isn't Velma bad. Gizmo was shocking to me, in the beta he felt pretty weak but now he feels so much better and stronger.

Infinite means an Infinite combo, which typically means the character can spam one or two of its moves and continue to combo you infinitely by doing so. "Without the Infinite " implies the character used to have one but was nerfed and no longer does.

I think people are overvaluing Ayra. She lacks range compared to even other assassins and so far I haven't seen any really solid combos that can't be dodged out of, or it ends up being love-taps.
That and her Dair actually loses to Reindog Up-attack on the ground. The sword actually doesn't hit him despite his attack being him throwing his body upwards. It hits her before it makes contact with her sword unless you catch him in the little pre-jump animation. Like, Batman Dair beats it. BG dair beats it. Morty Dair beats it. But Ayra Dair gets slaughtered. Same with fighting against Joker. That crowbar is CRIMINAL with how far it reaches. Like DEAR GOD.

I might even argue that gizmo is maybe High A, but I don't want to make too much of a slapdash reaction since I only got him this morning and have like.....6 games on him, but I also play with a friend in 2v2's who uses him. Never really seems to be able to "pop off" like some other characters can and his recovery just goes nowhere. Maybe you gotta dash-cancel into it to give it some momentum or something IDK.
