@@DeliciousDevious Bro it's so odd how the matchmaking works in that game. I'm in diamond and have gone against some teams that literally just get spawn trapped for half the game until they finally break out.
40-40-20 rule. Assuming a very large number of games 40% games are wins another 40% are losses no matter your performance, 20% is where your performance makes the difference. This is true for any 5 player PVP game. Quality of matchmaking is basically only „how hopeless“ these losses or wins are perceived ie how competitive each single game is.
This makes me feel a lot better about smite 2. I join a lot of randoms in call and they all say "I'm not going to play because all my skins and God worshipers will not be there" Many of my friends felt the same about it and said the same. I'm so glad many are playing and loving this game still. 🎉
Personally I'll lose my skins for a much better game and I think legacy gems are pretty fair. We'd all lose them at some point anyway when smite inevitably died on the path it was on.
@@Inters3ct fr, I used to hate a lot on smite devs until I learned that UE3 is over 18 years old. smite 2 needed to happen and the game is still genuinely fun without all the engine jank.
As a person who most likely spent more than 99.9% of players in Smite1, all I want is them to port the Limited Odyssey skins (and give them to people who should have them), and then take at least 1, ideally 2 most popular (maybe vote for 1 of them?) skins from each god, and port them to S2, having those purchasable via legacy gems. If they do that (even it it takes longer), I personally don't care and have no problem in supporting them for more upcoming years.

That’ll be a larger incentive to upgrade to the current gen or PC which hopefully further increases the player count of SMITE 2

I'm optimistic about more players sticking around this time. The game is actually good now whereas the last time we pulled these numbers (24/7 launch) the game was honestly pretty bad.
It doesn’t matter how good we think the game is no new players will enjoy having to read all the abilities plus all the items and the learning curve is massive no one has the attention span anymore unfortunately smite 2 will not amount to much as much as I wish it would
It’s really important that us veterans to the series help a lot of these newer players. Who cares if you’re losing. If people are honestly trying to learn, we are their best resource to get better. Just have fun and this game will flourish

Honestly, I played a few games last night, and it was an absolute blast. The game feels so much more fluid, it plays really well 10/10. I can already tell that it’s going to be a far better experience, and this is only the beginning. And also, the veterans of smite 1 like me have an enormous advantage 😂 I absolutely destroyed the people I played against 😂 now looking back to what I said about Cthulhu, I’m glad they haven’t added him, it would be unfair if I got to use that god right from the start. Oh and if you’re playing assault boys you need to be buying Amanita Charm. It’s the realest thing for that mode 😂 so good . 🎉
Cthulhu's burst would be glitchy asf if they added right away, also they are probably waiting for a lower player base phase, to release him again, Cthulhu's marketing will always attract new players, even if it already happened once on smite 1
I read the patch and really didn't think it would make the difference but when I played last night I can honestly say I enjoyed it and for the first time something about it felt like Smite. Maybe its the player base improving mm or maybe they have finally started to find that balance point, I am not sure, but Smite 2 finally felt like Smite.
The question now is to see how it does constantly. As Smite 1 holds players in the realm of Old school Runescape you can see a split in community. It's terrible to see that they will abandon Smite 1 except keeping it running to farm money. They should push unique updates for each to help both grow.

This was expected though it's ftp open launch day that doesn't mean smite is back let's give it a few weeks and see if it can retain the players I've been playing it lots of fun bur I'm not sold
It's free on console too, it came out a couple hours before on PC so you might've checked during that interim period where it was free on steam but not consoles
I am on PS5, i just got back to playing smite 2 when they ADDED in Assualt. On Console its going to be HUGE numbers lol the SMITE 2 community is gonna be more diverse than other like Leauge and DOTA because SMITE 2 is going to have people from CONSOLE and PC coming together and SMITE 2 feels better to play on CONSOLE to compared to smite 1, overall im loving the GAME and i love how the DEVs is trying to make SMITE 2 on PS5 more comparable to PC of course PC will always be better, BUT PS5 and other consoles feel alot better and smoother compared to smite 1
Sadly in Steam people are review bombing the game and screws up the rating. The funny part is that those people have around 1 hour or less game time as if they were just in the menu scrolling through the gods or only played 1 game and then they complain how the game has lost it's legacy and it cannot compare to Smite 1 and that there isn't anything new, just new graphics. What about CC buffering? What about all +1's for all Gods from Smite 1? What about the new item system? What about the aspects? What about the ascension passes? Like, why are people blinded by nostalgia??
The matchmaking system is so bad youd have to be mentally disabled to not notice how one sided every single game is. Theres no in between. The closest thing to matchmaking ive seen is the one game (out of over 100) where every person in the lobby was on the same platform, and there was still no contest! We killed titan before they could surrender at 10. I dont want free wins and impossible victorys, i want to have a decently balanced game
I’m happy the game seems to be doing decent for itself, but I wouldn’t call it until it’s been out for a month or two. Player retention is far more relevant to the health of the game than launch day numbers. Many games have launched great & went up in flames after. Not that I expect the game to crash. I just don’t think this is something to get carried away with.
Played for a bit and I just might be missing it but it is there some way to save builds like smite 1? Trying to look at all the items whilst in a game is not ideal for console imo
I had such good match made games last night. I played about 12 games throughout the day yesterday and they were all pretty balanced even with randoms in joust and conquest. I feel so much better about these numbers and glad to see people are willing to play.

A few friends and I had had trouble connecting our smite 2 accounts with steam. It was much easier to do on epic games. Wonder how many other people play on there too.
I played last night and it seems like they need to add quite a few audio effects still. Like I was autoing minions with Chaac and there was hardly any sound. Hope they can fix up stuff like that soon.
Ive been waiting for an influx of players since like you mentioned, matchmaking was pretty bad or non-existent before this f2p launch. Also we gotta give it up to all the YT creators that have been hyping it up, answering questions, and clearing up the bs that people spew about Smite 2 because of petty reasons.
Only issue is my ranked games are still filled with one or two people that remain level 15-16 by the time their entire team is 18-20 … it really makes it rough, I could really care less in casual (frustrating still) but ranked makes it like I am pulling my hair out. Also, still waiting for Terra to be implemented into the game … so I can play smite 2 full time.
I was gonna switch over to smite 2 finally with the free to play. Unfort that I need a better graphics card for it to run smooth at all lol. Once I get a better one, it's time.

idk but i have stuttering when there is lot of stuff happening and i play on lowest resolution, also everything in the distance seems blurry, other games on my pc run just fine tho overall it feels way clunkier than smite 1, or do i just have to get used to the feeling? either way a video about video settings etc would be appreciated
In terms of settings I haven't looked into it much myself as my game runs fine but I would recommend trying different Anti-Aliasing methods (or turning it off entirely) as that made my game look a lot better. Also I think Shadow quality and Effects quality have a large FPS impact so turning those down will get you more frames without making the game look like total shit (such as turning down resolution). I might make a full video on this though as I do get these questions a lot.
I expected to come back and be playing by myself yesterday. Last night I had a party of 9 (we split into two separate lobbies) everyone was having fun. Only minor complaints about the console store. We are so back.

Suggest that they add back the god builder on the "Gods" screen. I dont like going to practice to learn about items. I like reading them while waiting for a queue and setting a custom screen with preferred items. Ive gotten used to it now since i took a sick day to play, but the shop can be overwhelming

I did too, but I was unable to link my accounts in Smite 1 Divine Legacy since I was banned. It randomly popped up after the patch and I was very glad to get my legacy gems.

@brandonbordelon143 just because the devs say "more people are on console" doesn't actually mean that it's true, like intersect says you might be able to double the steam peak numbers to account for the entirety of the community, which is still a massive short coming in comparison to all other Mobas that are strictly PC as well.

THe real question at this point, will this stick? The past week had essentially everyone who tried the game stuck, so things look hopeful. My worry at this point is the part of the playerbase that's dropping Smite 2's review score because of the skin bullshit.
Played smite 1 for over 6 years and just tried smite 2 for the first time, meh. My biggest problem right now is the feel of the game. there doesnt seem to be a way to customize my ability settings. For example i like all my main abilities on bellona to be instant cast but ult stay as normal cast, thought i figured out a way to do it but it didnt change anything. Not being able to customize the abilities is part of it, but also just moving felt clunky. Maybe ill fix my settings over time to make it feel more like smite one, but rn it feels bad to play. Visually it looks ugly. I mean the game itself looks fine, but the menus and item shop look ugly af. I know its a beta but idc, its still ugly. gotta get used to using the new item shop too. Also didnt they say we would get something in smite 2 for our rank x gods in smite 1? I swear they did, thats why i spent last moments in smite 1 getting some gods to rank x, but i could be wrong. Either way i miss my worshipers but thats fine unlike the rest i ddint like.

I just hate the smite 2 vgs system compared to smite 1 cause I use controller and it's a ps4, and it displays Xbox buttons, so it gets confusing despite being the exact same inputs 😅
Exactly the game needs a lot of polishing. It looks bad, plays weird and it's unintuitive partly because of those STR/INT changes they made along with itemization. I think Smite 1, even if it's deemed "simpler" is 1000 times better than Smite 2. Smite 2 added weird mechanics from other MOBA's to the point the game feels like a shell of what Smite used to be.
Did they now hire more than 4 voice actors? Like some area where they always lacked since ever compared to the competition and never improved on? Edit: Steamcharts are also pretty mixed right now.

smite is screwed, 10s of thousands people cant play or download it, I downloaded it and easy anti cheat got flagged as spyware, even after allowing everything to use easy anti cheat it now doesnt let me fix the issue, as a regular smite player excited for smite 2 the fact they failed so hard on simply allow a game to easily download makes me not even want to try to fix the issue, and this will be the same for almost anyone who tried to install it, they shot themselves in the foot on something so simplistic as a smooth install
basically anyone who downloaded it without allowing easy anti cheat before hand which most people dont think of doing will now be cancelled from downloading or playing smite 2 unless you want to do hours of tiny fixes until one works, not worth it

It was ready and will last because out of all the criticism directed to the game, it plays solid it , I can’t wait for more content it’s a better game already just an incomplete one. But yeah whew I can already see myself undoubtedly playing smite 2 in the future over the original. With the unreal 5 so much more is possible, looks better feels better.

At time of writing it is currently 730AM GMT and SMITE 2 is already at 5500 and still rising despite is being early. I think we are back boys.

Ive been waiting for an influx of players since like you mentioned, matchmaking was pretty bad or non-existent before this f2p launch. Also we gotta give it up to all the YT creators that have been hyping it up, answering questions, and clearing up the bs that people spew about Smite 2 because of petty reasons.
Only issue is my ranked games are still filled with one or two people that remain level 15-16 by the time their entire team is 18-20 … it really makes it rough, I could really care less in casual (frustrating still) but ranked makes it like I am pulling my hair out. Also, still waiting for Terra to be implemented into the game … so I can play smite 2 full time.
I was gonna switch over to smite 2 finally with the free to play. Unfort that I need a better graphics card for it to run smooth at all lol. Once I get a better one, it's time.

Played JOUST just to see the new map and my friend made a crazy Aladdin play. I never want to play joust again, but we are SO back.

idk but i have stuttering when there is lot of stuff happening and i play on lowest resolution, also everything in the distance seems blurry, other games on my pc run just fine tho
overall it feels way clunkier than smite 1, or do i just have to get used to the feeling?

In terms of settings I haven't looked into it much myself as my game runs fine but I would recommend trying different Anti-Aliasing methods (or turning it off entirely) as that made my game look a lot better. Also I think Shadow quality and Effects quality have a large FPS impact so turning those down will get you more frames without making the game look like total shit (such as turning down resolution). I might make a full video on this though as I do get these questions a lot.
The game is more CPU intensive than BG3 on max settings... even just sitting in the home screen. Needs some serious optimizations.

I dont like going to practice to learn about items. I like reading them while waiting for a queue and setting a custom screen with preferred items. Ive gotten used to it now since i took a sick day to play, but the shop can be overwhelming

I did too, but I was unable to link my accounts in Smite 1 Divine Legacy since I was banned. It randomly popped up after the patch and I was very glad to get my legacy gems.
More people play console than PC. At least thats how it was with smite 1.
Yep, you can more than double the steam numbers for an actual player count with cross play accounted for
@@Inters3ctmultiply the peak number by 2 or 2.5 and that's what your community is... With the strength and intelligence and item shop changes it's fair to assume that around half of the people who tried it will immediately drop back to a better item shop, UI, and game being Smite 1
@brandonbordelon143 just because the devs say "more people are on console" doesn't actually mean that it's true, like intersect says you might be able to double the steam peak numbers to account for the entirety of the community, which is still a massive short coming in comparison to all other Mobas that are strictly PC as well.

Played smite 1 for over 6 years and just tried smite 2 for the first time, meh. My biggest problem right now is the feel of the game. there doesnt seem to be a way to customize my ability settings. For example i like all my main abilities on bellona to be instant cast but ult stay as normal cast, thought i figured out a way to do it but it didnt change anything. Not being able to customize the abilities is part of it, but also just moving felt clunky. Maybe ill fix my settings over time to make it feel more like smite one, but rn it feels bad to play. Visually it looks ugly. I mean the game itself looks fine, but the menus and item shop look ugly af. I know its a beta but idc, its still ugly. gotta get used to using the new item shop too. Also didnt they say we would get something in smite 2 for our rank x gods in smite 1? I swear they did, thats why i spent last moments in smite 1 getting some gods to rank x, but i could be wrong. Either way i miss my worshipers but thats fine unlike the rest i ddint like.
And that’s on PC f2p tends to affect console more.

I just hate the smite 2 vgs system compared to smite 1 cause I use controller and it's a ps4, and it displays Xbox buttons, so it gets confusing despite being the exact same inputs 😅

Every match I play is 40-3 or 4-40. It’s clunky and confusing. I don’t enjoy playing enough to commit to learning this game
Exactly the game needs a lot of polishing. It looks bad, plays weird and it's unintuitive partly because of those STR/INT changes they made along with itemization. I think Smite 1, even if it's deemed "simpler" is 1000 times better than Smite 2. Smite 2 added weird mechanics from other MOBA's to the point the game feels like a shell of what Smite used to be.
Did they now hire more than 4 voice actors?
Like some area where they always lacked since ever compared to the competition and never improved on?
Edit: Steamcharts are also pretty mixed right now.

With how people seemed to forget what an alpha is, if they had the alpha as free to play the game would be dead already due to people not understanding the purpose of an alpha.
smite is screwed, 10s of thousands people cant play or download it, I downloaded it and easy anti cheat got flagged as spyware, even after allowing everything to use easy anti cheat it now doesnt let me fix the issue, as a regular smite player excited for smite 2 the fact they failed so hard on simply allow a game to easily download makes me not even want to try to fix the issue, and this will be the same for almost anyone who tried to install it, they shot themselves in the foot on something so simplistic as a smooth install
basically anyone who downloaded it without allowing easy anti cheat before hand which most people dont think of doing will now be cancelled from downloading or playing smite 2 unless you want to do hours of tiny fixes until one works, not worth it

@@Snagavitch not sad at all want smite to do well, I love the game but the state the game is in isn't very good items are completely busted. Building tank is pointless literally have to build damage to clear stuff in solo just isn't fun right now.

It was ready and will last because out of all the criticism directed to the game, it plays solid it , I can’t wait for more content it’s a better game already just an incomplete one. But yeah whew I can already see myself undoubtedly playing smite 2 in the future over the original. With the unreal 5 so much more is possible, looks better feels better.
