Can you imagine the conversation if they had T.C. come back to voice young Kratos? They could have added a whole final boss fight and still be in line with the "Master thyself" theme. They could have still had Kratos forgiving himself at the end of it. Imagine what young Kratos would have said to his older self.
He has already fought himself in a previous game, and it wouldn’t really fit with the narrative they were going for. They want Kratos to accept his past not fight it anymore.
I was imagining an extended fight where whenever the younger Kratos initiated a cutscene QTE event, the original god of war theme would blare overpowering the fighting music and whenever Norse Kratos had the upper hand or rebuked portions of his past, Fayes theme would start playing. It would have been awesome. But it is never going to happen likely because such a direct confrontation goes against SM's theme of removing most testosterone from Kratos in his actions lol. I wouldn't be surprised if Kratos one day became trans because it is problematic for the concept of Hope to be represented by a Male in the eyes of the people creating the game.
It would fit given that he has wrestled with his past up til now. The fight would have been the symbolic apex of it. And then, like I already said, he would still forgive himself at the end. All still staying in line with the entire theme of Valhalla.

@@arpadszabo661 Since the Valhalla DLC was just a giant callback to the Greek era games, it would've been more fitting for SSM to at least let the current Kratos have a heart to heart with his past self. I can easily see the younger Kratos voiced by TC mocking the older one voiced by Chris, saying that he's grown weaker caring about others and trusting other deities given their past experiences with them, but older Kratos convinces him that he's actually gotten stronger because he's learned to forgive himself, quelled his rage, and actually allowed himself to place his trust in others. It would've been an interesting dynamic between the two.
Chris Judge defines the term "class act". He realizes how truly blessed he is and is happy with everything he's accomplished. Aside from his amazing talents and his fantastic portrayal of Kratos, that is why he so loved and appreciated by fans worldwide.
I appreciate Chris Judge immensely for respecting the groundwork that was laid previously by TC. I hope through that respect that TC can come back to the franchise in some form, be it a remake of old GOW games, or another cameo of young Kratos. I sure hope so.
@@Mankey619 I agree that the OG games are still great. They will always be timeless. GOW3 specifically still has phenomenal graphics for its time. Perhaps GOW1 & 2 could use a graphical overhaul. I'm sure the devs have better ideas than I do though.

TC Carson could've pulled an older and wiser Kratos. Kratos is not the only voice he has done, and voice acting is not his only career. He has been in movies as well and he is also a great singer. I get why they replaced him, but I don't believe the reason behind it. They should've kept him. He was passionate with the character. He was also offended when Santa Monica didn't even give him a heads-up. It's not cool.

Santa Monica and many of Sony's studios as of late have become very incompetent and hard-headed. I love Christopher Judge so much as a person. Really shows how much he respect TC Carson, and its true that he'll never intends to replace him nor ever thinks about being a better voice actor than him.
I really wanted TC to come back for the end of valhalla. The dlc is still the perfect love letter for all god of war fans, but to have TC come back for a few lines with old kratos would have been the ultimate cherry on top

No wonder the memories in the DLC had OG Kratos being a mute, it felt really of to not get any dialogue between current and last Kratos, this answers it. I wonder why TC isn’t even contacted for legit just a handful of lines, they seem to have banned him and I’ve never heard of any story where he was a diva or bad to work with for them to outright neglect him and his contribution to the IP to this extent, it’s also a very bad decision, I dare say that people would’ve gone crazy to see him reprise his role even for just a few cutscenes.

I see it as kratos getting older. he's much older then he was in the original gow games. so his voice changing makes sense. but glad to see a favorite actor of mine (chris judge) give respects to his own source material in a manner of speaking.
Yeah, I've always found it weird that when they went to Hel they used old sound clips for Zeus but not for young Kratos. I'm glad he didn't voice young Kratos, TC deserved better!
what do you mean unmatched, i have played the 5 ealier games (GOW1,2 and 3 and PSP ONES) and was amazing yes, but Chris conveyed a lot of emotion at the right times, sure we can only appreciate the greatness of GOD OF WAR now, due to the incredible work that TC did, but Judge was up there in voice acting. The thing is an interview 2 years ago, showed TC as hurt by them not telling him he wouldn't be needed for the new games (if this is correct or not we don't know, in terms of heads up), but that's not Chris fault and also remember that Cory was not involved in GOW in directorial capacity since GOW2, on top of that, TC is older and Mocap needed to be used for long hours with a lot of physicality (TC) at 60's probably wouldn't be the best fit anymore, on top of that Chris is just more shaped. Lastly like someone said, if you want to have a reboot, fresh let the old be gone, then TC had to go, he would probably say, but Kratos is this or Kratos is that. Let's appreciate that 2 amazing talented people give us amazing performances of the same character (think of of Reeves as Superman and Brandon Routh)
Santa Monica didn’t even inform TC that he wasn’t Kratos anymore. He found out on his own that God of War (2018) was coming out soon and that’s how he knew he was no longer Kratos. That’s pretty messed up of them.
I really think they can still use judge for mocap and etc and keep carson , Carson defined kratos the line : Zeus your son has returned , I bring the destruction of olympus Still sends shivers down my spine , really hope santa monica can make it work.
Man, i would have killed if young kratos got up and started a boss fight with mid fight dialog speaking about all the atrocities young kratos did while using all his old gear. He would have so many mini phases and ur R3 would be old kratos tearing his gear apart until after like 15 R3 its just the blades and the final one would be a hug. Accepting his past knowing what he did was wrong. Saying it is ok to have felt that way. But now it is not. Throwing him back into the throne. Then doing the monolouge we have now.
Judge respects TC Carson unlike some of the people that handled at Sony that didn't even call TC Carson to tell him they wouldn't be using him in the next game.
He voiced him in 2018 though, in Helheim when it shows the vision of Kratos killing Zeus, Zeus sounds the same but they redid Kratos' lines with Judge's voice

@@Apathy474 Eh? I and no one i know or have chatted with, has ever had even the briefest of trouble remembering they're the same character. to the point where its not even a notion we thought of. When i saw and heard kratos in the reveal trailer, i thought "yeah this is old kratos", which playing the game later reinforced further.
I say "miss" as if I played the originals, which I haven't unfortunately. I don't have a PlayStation and haven't emulated them yet, only seem videos. Still, I love TC Carson's voice and I think he did a great job

Santa Monica and many of Sony's studios as of late have become very incompetent and hard-headed. They are now wasting time and resources on nonsense, such as Sweet Baby Inc., when they could be spending that in making great games with competent developers who actually listen to gamers and/or constructive criticism.

I really wanted TC to come back for the end of valhalla. The dlc is still the perfect love letter for all god of war fans, but to have TC come back for a few lines with old kratos would have been the ultimate cherry on top

No wonder the memories in the DLC had OG Kratos being a mute, it felt really of to not get any dialogue between current and last Kratos, this answers it.
I wonder why TC isn’t even contacted for legit just a handful of lines, they seem to have banned him and I’ve never heard of any story where he was a diva or bad to work with for them to outright neglect him and his contribution to the IP to this extent, it’s also a very bad decision, I dare say that people would’ve gone crazy to see him reprise his role even for just a few cutscenes.

A beautiful scene indeed. *if Young Kratos would’ve spoke back, I would’ve lost my mind.* Yet, they dropped the ball on that scene. Everyone was waiting for young Kratos to talk back. Yet, TC stated he felt disrespected & disappointed that they didn’t even call to let him know they were moving on. He also stated he found out they moved on when 2018 GOW was announced, & he knew he didn’t voice it. That’s foul. “A consideration call would’ve been nice after all we’ve done.”

Yeah, I've always found it weird that when they went to Hel they used old sound clips for Zeus but not for young Kratos. I'm glad he didn't voice young Kratos, TC deserved better!

what do you mean unmatched, i have played the 5 ealier games (GOW1,2 and 3 and PSP ONES) and was amazing yes, but Chris conveyed a lot of emotion at the right times, sure we can only appreciate the greatness of GOD OF WAR now, due to the incredible work that TC did, but Judge was up there in voice acting.
The thing is an interview 2 years ago, showed TC as hurt by them not telling him he wouldn't be needed for the new games (if this is correct or not we don't know, in terms of heads up), but that's not Chris fault and also remember that Cory was not involved in GOW in directorial capacity since GOW2, on top of that, TC is older and Mocap needed to be used for long hours with a lot of physicality (TC) at 60's probably wouldn't be the best fit anymore, on top of that Chris is just more shaped.
Lastly like someone said, if you want to have a reboot, fresh let the old be gone, then TC had to go, he would probably say, but Kratos is this or Kratos is that.
Let's appreciate that 2 amazing talented people give us amazing performances of the same character (think of of Reeves as Superman and Brandon Routh)

Santa Monica didn’t even inform TC that he wasn’t Kratos anymore. He found out on his own that God of War (2018) was coming out soon and that’s how he knew he was no longer Kratos. That’s pretty messed up of them.

Man, i would have killed if young kratos got up and started a boss fight with mid fight dialog speaking about all the atrocities young kratos did while using all his old gear. He would have so many mini phases and ur R3 would be old kratos tearing his gear apart until after like 15 R3 its just the blades and the final one would be a hug. Accepting his past knowing what he did was wrong. Saying it is ok to have felt that way. But now it is not. Throwing him back into the throne. Then doing the monolouge we have now.
