Enter the grass material and select the material's default node, and near the material view (where you configure the node parameters) you must search for "Foliage" and activate the option that is deactivated. It should look like a check.
I had the same problem for a long time but I found out the issue. All you need to do is go to the Material of your custom grass foliage, then go to the Details tab and find the "Usage" section. In that section you should find allot of options, but the one that you need to look for is the "Used in Instanced Static Meshes" and you need to enable it, then save changes. I'm not sure this is going to work for everyone, but that is how I found the issue.
For the people also that shows up like a grey texture in folliage mode. Like the youtuber said in the pinned comment, click into the grass material, then click in the panel with all the things connected, the grass material, the largest one or like he says, "the material's default node". From that, go to the options in the left side of the panel with all the things connected and below your grass image. Now for me, there is not a "folliage option" like the guy says, instead what I did and fixed it, is trying to tick all the options until your problem is solve, specifically, there is a tab under all the ones there, named "use", click it and tick all the options, I think that solved the problem, but if not, tick one by one looking up the option... 1:07 the place where you have to look up for the option is here in which he clicked Two sided. (Also, I am from Argentina, so for me the tab named "use" is "uso", I am supposing its named use in english. Besides that, if there is not or is called different, I think I made things more clear and hope I help and you find the option)
Hi Thank you for this tutorial. I've watched the tutorial several times, but I'm stuck at time stamp 2:14 adding vertex color, lerp, and constant value nodes,. Connecting them all just as in the vid causes all motion to stop for me. The grass just stops moving. My material graph looks just like the one in the vid. Any thoughts on something not in the vi
For all the people that can not do the folliage option, I am here to save your day. At least for me, didn't combine them well like in 2:21. You have to be sure to have both selected with shift and click both to combine them and then, transform it to a static mesh like in the video.
I didn't understand the key you used to get the value 0.0 at 1Minute 40' (I'm French so I didn't understand this part very well). Could you explain again how to get it, please?

You just have to hold down the number 1 on the keyboard and click the mouse button.
