After 20+ years mate he still kills it every set without him I don't think limp bizkit would have lasted as long as they have. It's a credit to him! Drum machine!!!!
@@pietdijkman1980unfortunately, you are wrong, it isn’t pure metal but it s more of a branch of metal called “nu metal” so in essence the comment above is only fax
I always thought it was crazy that jazz drums could work in a heavy sound but when you listen to jazz in general the drums are pretty heavy and sound like they wanna break loose
I got a pair of drum sticks yesterday and they felt amazing in my hands and they were so pretty and it had his name on them so I looked him up and now I am so happy his name is on the drum sticks
He does, two songs to name a few My Generation - "John Otto, take 'em to the Matthews Bridge" Just Like This- "We bring that beat back And we made sure that John kept them beats phat"
It's those ghost notes on the snare. That left hand doesn't stop moving and it sounds amazing. Never mind his signature china use as a main crash and all the little splash fills and hi-hat use. This guy is makes drums melodic.
I fail to understand why and how John Otto is not as famous as his counterparts! His grooves are mind blowing Nd he is one tight drummer , influenced a whole generation and brilliant to say the least!
Sorry about my english. Somebody knows how he activates the super low effect or 808 deep drum? He could do it thrue a brain or a single pad. But, if we hear the ends of the Jhon Ottos in live sessions he activates it sound. Question... Where is the pad?, or... Dj lethal do it activation. Thank you! I dont see it pad. Or is next of the bass drum. Thanx
Dj lethal records it and mixes it, then hits the pad. Im not talkin about studio, in live performances, he can record any instruments and vocals through the software, and then remixes or edits with effects, then can be played through a pad or how ever his setup is.
He is one hell of a drummer often overlooked.

I want to watch a whole concert with this camera angle/sound mix.
Me too

He's drumming is so solid I would build a house on it
Ok

He’s like a steady mailman-rain and shine, he’ll deliver
Ridiculously tight and funky, really underrated drummer. Those ghost notes!
Underrtaed? by whom?
Otto is a real drum master
Man, I love his drumming. This video ended too soon. I was looking forward to the breakdown.
Johns style resonates with me like no other drummer has before. Love it and can watch it over.
I love how he uses a secondary snare and hi-hat for the verse intro and pre-chorus.
I can hear and watch him forever
Probably one of the most tasteful drum cams I've seen in a long time
This is groove drumming perfection. All feel...
John Otto this is so smooth groove master , this is fire 🔥
That's what happens when you've got a classically trained jazz drummer playing metal. 🔥🔥🔥
Tons of these guys in metal with just as much feel and emotion and zero jazz history. We gotta stop being so pretentious in music.
@@derpderpin1568 1st) Who?? 2nd) It ain't pretentious. Just facts. Don't be mad.
I agree he is a great and very tasty drummer, but LB is not metal, and this is not metal drumming.

This is the God of groove!
I fucking love his groove!
“I don’t smoke but I love the way it smells”
^ the cymbal hit he makes after that line is one of the smoothest things on this record.
I got a pair of drum sticks yesterday and they felt amazing in my hands and they were so pretty and it had his name on them so I looked him up and now I am so happy his name is on the drum sticks

I wish Fred would give a shout-out to John Otto on the drums and the bass player too, not just Wes on the guitar, they're all awesome at what they do.
count in DJ Lethal for some scratches too

When they play rearranged they say welcome sam rivers
John otto and tico torras and rob bourden are my favourite drummers of all times
This is not even drum mic sound, it's just acoustic. Love it how he starts off the Verse without the crash and keeps it that way till chorus
underrated drummer!
