WHY do you "feel awful" for him? They could be playing Tammy Abraham instead. He would have TWICE the goals and assists and people like you you would STILL e all over him like you were Lukaku, who scored 42 goals for United at $7.5m pounds. They paid $47 million for him, and he's a TOTAL FLOP and you "feel bad" for him.
Feel awful? I feel disgust. This guy has no business starting for Chelsea. The guy has a ton of talent, but the job of a striker is to score goals. I don’t care how much space he creates, how good he is in the build up - the bottom line is he hurts his team very seriously. He might have cost them a spot in the CL final, and when a player demonstrates a total lack of finishing ability, not once or twice, but literally dozens of times, that really saps the energy and confidence of a team. Werner should be replaced by Abraham or Giroud immediately. Maybe then they’ll have a chance in the 2nd leg. Then Chelsea should sell him while he still has value. Striking is an instinct, and players can develop it, but they have to have at least a baseline ability to perform. Werner does not have that. I truly believe his best days on the pitch are already behind him. He has clearly shown that he is not capable of performing consistently at the top level. He would be a nice player for Leeds or Wolfsburg or Atalanta- a club like that.

All the way from a quarter of a meter, with an empty net and the ball floating down to him, he somehow managed to find a way to get the ball into the net. I was absolutely stunned. Maybe the single greatest goal ever scored. I mean, he only had about 180 degrees of angle to squeeze that one in. And from that distance, I just don’t know how he managed to. Pull it off. The most accomplished strikers, from Drogba to Henry to Berbatov to Messi to Cristiano and Zlatan routinely "disappear" through whole games. They are snipers, not energizer bunnies, which Werner is. When he came on transfer, I warned this would cost Lampard his job, as Werner is really a singer without the pace to beat Premiér league defenders and will force the team to change the roles of a lot of young players that got them there. Tuchel has put a bandaid on the problem for half a season, but once the euphoria wears out next season, we'll be back where we began. We'll see.

I find myself making excuses for Werner and pardoning him but when he missed that open net yesterday against Real, for the first time I genuinely got angry at Werner. He could've shot anywhere but decides to shoot directly towards Courtois.
Tbh, I’m literally the exact opposite of you. I haven’t been making excuses at all, and have honestly been sick to death of his performances all season. His assist stat is only so high because he can’t score the chances he gets and so it’s better to pass. But I’ll give him this - he’s played better over the past few games, and as for that shot against courtois, he had mere mili seconds to think about his shot. That ball came in fast and with the angle and distance he was from The net there was no other way he could have shot.

My theory is that Timo has some kind of dirt on Tuchel. Because Tuchel seems like a really good manager in all other respects. He’s really brought life to Chelsea, but he has probably cost them a shot at a CL title because of his blind spot for Werner.
