Awesome! I’ll have to steal a lot of your ideas for mine. I personally used an Alice belt, lots of tie in points and I can throw on the suspenders if I’m carrying heavy gear like my pistol or an extra canteen.
I really like BPS my favorite is the adventurer. Ive never found much use for a hatchet. I do like a tomahawk sometimes. Mostly i take a knife and a folding saw. The only time ive ever needed a ax is staying in a cabin to feed a woodstove. But a saw can get almost everything done. Very cool belt.
Hatchet comes in handy clearing a campsite of larger low hanging branches when setting up my tent. It’s been one of those things that I’ve gotten used to using over the years. Yes, BPS knives are great!
Thank you very much! Last canoe trip I was on was when I was 18. Long time ago! Looking forward to using this belt kit as all our meals will be cooked on my collapsible wood stove. My brew kit, I’m using my Esbit alcohol stove for it. Take care my friend!
👍 I agree with all the components in your kit, but worry it would be a bit much to carry on a belt; however, when you showed it in use at the end of the video this concern was lessened. Thank you for sharing.
Another option or add on, would be one or two old m16 mag pouch. Cut out the dividers and you can stor all sorts of stuff in them. Altoid tin fire kits, compass first aid and even an emergency tarp
Are you sure you could swim with clothes on and this kit ? Or are you so good in canoeing that you don't need to worry about tipping ? Otherwise it would be a better idea to pack it inside a backpack which is lined with a roll-top bag with enough air closed in to make it float. I also would prefer the axe to be secured, not only loose in the loop - a buckle-strap over top would take care of that. Sh** happens, right - be prepared. Have fun with your son - precious time, it will never come back.
Excellent points! Yes, I ended up stowing the belt kit in a roll top dry bag so everything would float. I pretty much situated all the trip kit this way. Even my coolers I cinch strapped so no contents could be lost. Today on the lake was brutal. Wind gust, large waves, we had to cut through to the far side of a lake to get out of the wind. We are half a day from home now, so picking up a cell tower 😁. Take care my friend!!

That’s cool! Glad I could help!
It's a good idea Scout. To have a utility belt. It is quick, and easy. Right on again bro. Cheers 🍻
Right on! Thanks brother!
