Julie has the voice of an angel 😇 There's so much raw & honest pain in her voice here. She totally sold her heartache in this song & it really moved me.
I was so fortunate to move to Austin, TX in 1999 and then attend the 1st ACL festival couple years later. Buddy/Julie were not on the schedule line-up, but they were up on stage before Emmylou Harris came out and I was so delighted cause I was such a huge fan since 1991. Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin, Gillian Welch were all there and I was in literal Heaven with just surreal smile on my face watching these Angels sing.
Very few artist reach this depth of heart, very few artist makes a grown man tear up every time, and start healing old forgotten wounds. Suddenly I remember what real great art are capable of. Praise §;-)
First heard Julie at a church in So Cal at a fundraiser for a musician who passed suddenly at a very young age. Was able to meet her, she signed a book of inspirational quotes. Been a fan every since. Not your typical contemporary christian singer, but I don't separate great talent by their religion or otherwise.
@@joswrita Yes. Mark Heard, an American folk rock singer-songwriter, producer, and musician, suffered a heart attack during his final concert at the Cornerstone Festival in 1992. He was 40 years old at the time. Mark Heard's life was marked by his Christian faith, which influenced his music and artistic direction. He studied at L’Abri in Switzerland under Francis Schaeffer, a prominent evangelical philosopher.
My husband and I are great lovers of Mark Heard’s music. We knew about him teaching at L’Abri and dying during a performance. But you have filled in some details. Thank you. He was an incredible poet. And he’s both REAL and intelligent. I highly recommend him-though you won’t find videos, just album covers with his voice singing.
There is a fabulous cover of this great song by a Dutch singer, Ilse de Lange, but I keep returning to this original. Wonderful, really, keeps giving me shivers.
What can you say? Beautiful? Sensational?
Always heartbreaking....

Ilse de Lange wrote this song! So the cover is made by Julie and not by Ilse!
@@peterruyter645 Julie Wrote it. Ilse de Lange Covered it in 2000. Julie Released it in 1999 - But yes both are great!

where can i find the full broadcast? Unsuccessful on ACL archives. Any ideas?
From my heart I wish that Mrs. Miller would duet this with Vince Gill. I think it would be amazing. I’m stupid I guess.
What a great idea.

Ist mir bekannt mag diese version aber lieber und ist gefühlvoller
@@Umtali11 She has put her feelings in words and she sings them herself. This is real and honest. Everything else is an interpretation.
Also... Is the other gentleman on stage Dave Matthews?
Unfortunately I do not know it :-(
yup. did duet on emmy's record "red dirt girl" that came out around this time.
Sure is; check out his and Emmylou's duet on Nanci Griffith's "Gulf Coast Highway" from this concert.
bad buzz in sound -
Those are Buddy Holly's Crickets.
Absolute INABILITY to sing.
OK if she sings her own song?
Inability to hear. Or feel. My condolences- seriously, I'm glad I'm not you. My heart is aging and broken, but it still brings me so much joy....
@@peterdavis8585 No the song is written by Ilse de Lange!!!
