@@confusedlefty It's a reference to one of the world's in KH2, I'm just a little bummed out we didn't get more unique designs. I love that we got KH1 2 and 3 as costumes but I would have taken say the Halloweentown costume over 3D any day, for example
@@alexv0714 They could have done a bunch of other ones like the Nightmare Santa Sora in KH2 or the Monster Inc. Sora in KH3. PotC KH3 Sora is great too. Soamny great options but I love the designs. Personally like the 3D and Wisdom for sure
@@ProjectLuark Yeah tons of potential. I get Disney being tricky about their IPs but like some of those costumes don't outright show those IPs on blast so idk what the harm is.
I'm happy with the alts don't get me wrong but yeah the first four are definitely just red and black variants when you look at it without KH knowledge, and in that regard I just wish they could have had more liberty and freedom.

I'm really happy of this inclusion for the reason that I thought it would be the "best" choice as well and even tho I didn't play Kingdom Hearts before, I want to play the games now that they're coming to the Nintendo Switch cause I watched a bit of Kingdom Hearts 3 when it came out and I really liked it.

Guess it wasn't useless to watch an entire let's play of Kingdom Hearts 3 and to dive quite deep into the lore of this franchise in the end. Cause now the character is in Smash and I already know a lot of things on him.

@@alexv0714 I got Smash Ultimate by the time Byleth would come in, since then, I reached high levels of GSP with some of my favorite characters very painfully. This is because almost all of my matches were extremely disrespectful at all the means possible. And this all reflects onto the reveal trailers, it looks like an amount of Smashers are just into the game to pick their mono characters and then hate on disapproval to others. Like, come on man. IDC about Fire emblem, Xenoblade or Minecraft, and yet got very happy to see them as DLC, both for being good choices and for those who wished upon it so hard... Just enjoy this magnificent game dammit

The way I see it, there are three levels here: the "history of gaming" level, the "history of Smash" level, and the gameplay level.
On the "history of gaming" level, Kingdom Hearts is one of the biggest franchises of all times and an amazing crossover in its own right, so crossing it over with the other amazing crossover of the gaming world makes so much sense.
On the "history of Smash" level, Sora has been the most requested character for the longest time, he literally was the reason why Bayonetta ended up in Smash 4 to begin with (he won the poll, Disney wouldn't give them the rights, Bayo was second, she got in), so ending the life cycle of SSBU by finally bringing him in is the most poetic way of closing this cycle. From this point of view, there couldn't have been a better character than him.
On the gameplay level... It's literally a floatier Lucina with a bunch of projectiles, Pikachu's down b, and old Bayo's recovery. That doesn't exactly sound like a recipe for fun times to me.
That’s such a basic way to look at the character that ignores all of his fundamentals. Just based on the direct you can tell multiple things about sora that set him apart from most of the cast.
1. His control over the air probably exceeds any other character, with his floatiness complimenting that playstyle
2. He’s gonna excel at stage control with his projectiles and air movement because a lot of his moves look kinda laggy and not safe on shield, meaning he’ll probably struggle in neutral against combo heavy characters
3. His recovery mixups and landing options are gonna lead to some wacky stuff in disadvantage especially when he’s offstage.
4. A lot of his attributes will make him a VERY good doubles character
I was able to deduce all of that and the character hasn’t even come out yet. If you’re disappointed by sora than that’s fine but not every character with a sword is a Lucina clone.
You're right. For real tho they had so much great potential with this character and they just gave him a bunch of recycled moves and made him a boring ass characters. But hey in DLC general Sakurai did a great job so I can't complain.
He looks like Edgeguard: The Character. You go offstage and you’re in trouble. I think he’ll have some trouble in the center though.

@@aegeon5650 He didn't say the character was bad by any means. his playstyle may be kind of original, i don't think he's gonna be the most fun to play as and even more against. And for the moves, it's basically just a mix : swordfighter normals, hero lvl1 neutral B, first part of thunder, ice climbers down B, link's up B but not grounded, shulk counter but with a backwards deflect...
His side B is original and look good, but i think a little more original moves would have been appreciated.

For me it was seeing Mario actually pick up the keyblade, the moment it took on the silhouette of a sword instead of just a ball of fire I knew
Honestly I don't know how as I don't know much about KH. But when I saw the little ember I immediately thought it was Sora.
Im still in awe that there are people that legit thought it was Sora based off of the smash logo burning out and Mario throwing a sword shaped fireball. There's zero connection between that and Kingdom Hearts. I feel like he was just one of the very few characters people expected it to be and it turned out to be him.
I didnt get that impression in the slightest. I thought it was Cinderace or someone from Dark Souls up until I saw the fire covered Keyblade after he threw it. I could barely tell it was even a sword when I first saw it, if it showed the teeth of the key then I wouldve understood but, it looked like a typical plain sword to me.
@@caelum9471 The connection isn't 'fire' it's 'light' specifically the light going out/darkness taking over, which is a central theme in basically every KH game.
I love that as soon as they see Sonic blade, Everyone starts having Bayonetta Smash 4 PTSD Flashbacks, because I have them too
Seeing Marss's girl's reaction makes me really happy. I don't even play KH, but watching someone with a huge connection to the series get all emotional at the big reveal and all the little details that the team included was strangely heartwarming. I'm really happy for all the KH fans out there that got to see Ult DLC go out with a bang.

So… Imma put him in mid-high to high tier. He’s not really “fast”, but he’s versatile with a lot of mixups. Not SUPER strong or broken, but overall a super fun character to play with. I’m impressed, Sakurai… You’ve made me cry happily and sadly at the same damn time….
I forgot where I saw it, but someone said "the greatest cross over game got the first and biggest cross over character of all time" and I support that. I remember when kingdom hearts came out, and I was freaking out seeing Cloud, Goofy, Cid, Donal, hades, yuffie, ect all in a single game, and I couldnt wrap my head around it. Then as I got older and played more fighting games and smash, and seeing Snake, sonic, banjo, and so, so many more I felt that same feeling but never connected the dots. Seeing Sora in smash has bridged that gap I didn't know existed for me in the gaming world. It always felt like a fever dream, like this new Disney wouldnt ever let that happen. But here we are, at the end of one of my favorite games, bringing in one of my first and best utter mind-blowing experiences in gameing. Thank you to everyone involved, and thank you Sakurai for everything you have done.

How does Sora NOT make sense in Smash? Colorful design. Tons of moves from over a decade of video games to pull from. And he LITERALLY jumps between different worlds and franchises. As far as I'm concerned, Sora's right at home in Smash

He's definitely the perfect character. It was just a legal battle with Disney. We didn't even get Simple and Clean, Sanctuary, Dearly Beloved, etc., as songs in the actual game. Disney said nope to all the bangers, no Disney appearances in the game, etc etc. Expected, but a little disappointing given what could have been.

Hearing Battle to the Death being played at the end of the video has me slightly disappointed we didn't get a few more kh tracks or any final boss theme. In the end, I'm still happy that we got Sora and for everything.

For god sake, this is the last character, he won the ballot, he is from a series that literally made Donald and Sephiroth interact. Ngl I just don’t like Coney’s reaction. It’s you shouldn’t just diss anyone’s fav character/game or dreams of having that character in the game. If you can’t diss Steve then you shouldn’t diss Sora. Why does banjo need special poses? He was perfectly fine the way he was. Reasoning for Sora was because one he’s the final character, they have to go all out. Two Sora was literally #1 most requested since smash 3Ds/Wii U. Plus don’t you see how hard Nintendo had worked for to get Sora into smash? Like that took a lot of work to get Disney to agree even tho square co-owns Sora they still had to go through Disney. Just be happy with how it ended. At least it wasn’t someone ridiculous like Crash, (tbh I never saw waluigi getting in), master chief was just idk weird I mean doom slayer got in as a Mii costume, could’ve just done the same if it was master chief. Also Sora’s moveset may look similar to like Bayonetta, Link, be bouncy like Ness but more, but like he’s as close as he should be as Sora from kingdom hearts. After all Sonic blade is an attack in the Kh game, so makes sense he has it as a side b like dash attack. His three magic attacks are nice, his co3 hit combos literally is just the same from the actual game. They did amazing with him and I’m happy he got in. I never really disliked any of the DLCs we’ve gotten. Only one that sorta upset me but I am fine with was Steve. If I could’ve exchanged Steve for idk some random other requested characters I would’ve been fine with it.
Also the funny thing is that we now know that this pass was originally going to be only 5 characters like last time. They made an extra 6th spot specifically for Sora. Sora didn't take anyone's spot.
