- So here's my second week of post-op waffling!
In this week's recovery vlog, I make quite a few mini achievements and show the state of my hair after not showering for almost two weeks... that's something I don't wish to go through again, I don't take showers for granted now😂
Oh, and just because I cant stop mentioning it, I also had my big chest reveal where I got to see my chest for the first time this week! @Evan That's the exact reason I wanted to share my experience as a trans person; to try and help others going through the same thing. The first few years of my transition were absolutely awful, but then I started testosterone and suddenly things started to feel better. And now being on the other side of top surgery I'm feeling more comfortable in my own body than I could have ever imaged.
Years ago, I never thought I could be this happy or content with my body. Sometimes it can feel impossible and like it will never happen but I assure you it will, and its definitely worth all the difficulties along the way💙☺️
i get my top surgery on the 5th of may. i cant wait to get to wear tank tops and stuff that i would feel self conscious about wearing, and cant wait to not having to wear a shirt.

It’s so cool to see your transition, and where you’re at. I am just so happy for you. A lil jealous, because I want to have top surgery as well. Congratulations on your surgery! I felt exactly the same, recovery can be difficult and annoying. But it's all worth it once you're on the otherside😊

Over the past few months, I’ve been trying to pick a surgeon and with mostly your help, I’ve picked Mr Fitton! I was told in October/November that his wait is nine months so I should hopefully be having surgery towards the end of this year.
After your referral, did you get a letter from him accepting your referral? How long after did you have your first consult and what did it involve?
@Adam James Ah congrats on getting your referral! I'm glad my random waffling was helpful😂
I had problems with my referral and my gender clinic so I actually sent my referral to his secretary myself. Because I was already talking to her, I just asked her to confirm that my referral went through with no problem. As I wasn't referred in the normal way, I'm not sure if you'd usually recieve a letter from the hospital about them accepting your referral but I'm sure Leanne (Mr Fitton's secretary) would be happy to send you confirmation if you're worried at all😊
My referral was accepted in April 2021 and I then received an email in July 2021 with a date for my consultation and surgery to take place in September 2021. The dates for my consultation and surgery were two weeks apart from each other. Although I become unwell and had to move my surgery to November 2021 instead.
The first part of my consultation was with Mr Fitton, it was only about 30 minutes. He quickly looked at my chest and measured from my shoulders to my nipples. He was really considerate and never touched my chest. We then just spoke about what the surgery involved, the risks and complications, what my results would probably look like. He showed me photos of previous patients to show me what he'd aim for but also took on board what I wanted my scar placement to be. He writes everything down as you're talking and sends you a copy after so you can look back if you forget anything.
The second part is with a nurse, all that happens really is they ask you all sorts of questions about your health so they know how best to support you whilst you're in hospital and in recovery. Other than that, I just had my height, weight and blood pressure measured, a heart trace and a blood test.
