As a kid I had Wild World and Let's go to the City and I swear in my memories the graphics always looked as good as New Horizons 💭

I’ve been playing animal crossing since I was 7. Honestly it’s so weird when new players are like “wait ACNH isn’t the first game?”
honestly, i thought that at first, then i put some research into it, and figured out it was animal crossing population growing/animal crossing.

When I first started playing animal crossing, it was mostly because of my sister (I got my switch and then the game in august so she had the game for a few months by then). I don’t think she ever played any of the games either. I’m the kind of person to watch others play a game (or watch videos talking about a game) and then want to buy it, so I do. I remember after I got the game, I watched a lot of videos from animal crossing content creators and through that I knew about the other games.
Just to let you know, I’ve never really gotten into video games (I have three sisters and only one of them plays video games and when I was younger all that she really played was COD on the Xbox). I had a 3Ds but besides that, nothing. I’m glad to be apart of this community rather now then not at all
This can also be a way to see how New Horizons has been the biggest AC boom. It made a looot of people that didnt even know the saga play it. The lockdown was a blessing for the thriving of the game, and these people, if they didnt have to stay at home for so long, may never have given the game a chance. Still, that explains the beginning of the sales. Them being sold a lot after a while means that the game is actually good for these newcomers and for old players. And with the 2.0 update, the game is starting to feel more complete. As a funny thing, now its not just "isnt it the first game?" but with the new update a lot of people think the new stuff is totally new, when a lot of things like the stretching activity or even some of the "new" villagers come from previous games. But the important thing is, to enjoy the game, newbies and oldies
In wild world the whole map is loaded at the same time so there's no screens moving between sections of the map. This was a huge tech step up from the gameube, I remember it was one if the selling points. We often take for granted how much loading screens have been improved from.
now you play open world games where entire country regions are 1 map with no loading zones its insane

Well, the game made it to the estimated 3-4 years.
After the big update announcement it was clear they wouldn’t do anything but bugfixes anymore.
So Officially seen its dead now, and a lot of people stopped playing because corona laws are long gone.

Welcome to another episode of “Where late night youtube recommendations have brought me”
Have played every single game every single version. Own a copy of all of them. Obsession peaked. Btw dobutsu no Mori is available thru emulators. I read about the creator. He had a difficult time moving away from home to work for this company and missed his friends. He had to pitch an idea of some sort and came up with the idea of being in the country where he missed his family, and making friends, as he had none in the city. So this slow paced friendly life style is intentional and came from the mind of someone who wanted a home and to make friends. I'll always find that so sweet.
Wild World helped me through a lot of rough times in my early teen years, same for City Folk for the latter. I had lost my grandparents in 2003, and had no support system (or many friends). Those two games helped me deal with all of that through high school and college.
New Leaf helped me with the isolation and reverse culture shock I felt after coming back from three years abroad in Japan.
And now, New Horizons has helped me connect with my friends in real life during quarantine, and has helped me meet new people through online communities.
I'm so grateful for these games, and the developers who made them. They've done so much to help me, and I'll be eternally thankful for that.

Wild world was one of my favorite ones. I remember when the version of valentines day came around and I gave Wolfgang a red rose and he was so flustered lol. He wemt from being angry and yelling at me all the time to being one of the nicest villagers I had and now have in ACNH ❤
New Leaf is just nostalgic for me. I remember hours of gameplay talking to villager, catching bug and fish, going to tortimer's island and playing online, and just having a great time.
New Leaf is superior in a lot of ways. I wish they would combine New Leaf and New Horizons! That would be the most perfect Animal Crossing game. 20 yr Animal Crossing fan here though! ♡ It will always be my favorite game.

@@MegaKirbySuperstar There are so many other great things about Animal Crossing, though. It is a different experience to New Horizons and has a lot to offer. I highly recommend it.
@@tuffdude7795 I'm sure it's good but the lack of having total control of look the outside is something that's a bummer. The decorating is my fave part. Also the more lacking character creator options is a bummer too.

Loved this ep! My first one was ACWW, followed by happy home designer, NL and NH. I gotta say AC has such a special place in my heart and I can safely claim it as my favourite game up to date. Especially with NH's terraforming and customizable furnitures, I feel like my creativity has no more limits!
This makes me so emotional 😭 my heaaaart. I cant believe ive been playing since 2002. I miss copper and brooker. Im so happy animal crossong has come back so strong. And i think there are many updates to come but probably another game in the making or very soon depending on if they plan on launching a new console or console feature. Maybe another spinn off but they seem pretty focused on acnh and amiiboos for it.
Booker was always one of my favorite non-villager characters in ACPG. I always loved his bumbling and grumbling, as he got conned out of the items in the lost and found. LOL

It’s crazy to think animal crossing was released exactly 2 years after I was born and a GameStop employee suggested the GameCube version for me when I was in elementary school. I grew up with this franchise.

i loved city folk. i probably put close to a thousand hours on that game between 2009 and 2017. so many fond nostalgic memories :) i hope they bring celestes observatory to nh someday.

This is an absolute nostalgia bomb for me. I played ACPG when I was a freshman in high school, living in a small, rural Texas town, with nothing to do and few friends. I spent so many hours awake at night, fishing at the shoreline, cursing sea bass. Billy was always my best friend, and Admiral always busted my chops. Same with Fang, but I still loved him.
Hadn't played any other version until ACNH, and now I'm close to 650 hours in, with no end in sight. I miss certain things about ACPG, like dodging emotional neighbors, so they couldn't yell at you. But I love that I feel like my villagers are my friends, even though they're just 1s and 0s. I cried last year, when Louie met me outside my door, to take me to my surprise birthday party...I'm 33, for chrissakes, but this series makes you feel something, at least it does for me...
I got new leaf for myself as an adult and then new horizons came out and I about died of excitement 😂 I wish I'd had them as a kid since I had all mentioned systems

New horizons is my first animal crossing game I’m very sad I never played any of them as a kid so I actually recently bought Wild World and started played it and I love it, but right after that I legit found a perfect copy of City Folk in my basement so now I’m play City Folk and Wild World at the same time
When you are done with those you have to play New Leaf. It is so good and is bursting with content.

Started with game cube animal crossing, had the ds one, loved it so much, and city folk was the last animal crossing I played until the pocket camp app and now new horizons. Love this game so much.
Pocket Camp holds a place in my heart, i was on vacation and i actually lost my 3ds charger somewhere in the hotel and i was sad because i wasn't able to play new leaf for the rest of vacation. So i played Pocket Camp while we waited for the staff to find my charger. And i actually was able to get a bunch if special items and i was absored in it for so long i didn't even realize they found my charger. I was happy to have the ability to play new leaf again but i had found myself even more absorbed in pocket camp!
Nothing will EVER beat the GC music. I see he even used it in this video.
Same. New horizons gets ceaseless praise, but no one points out how inferior some aspects are (like the music) compared to the original game.
Horizons has become my favourite modern game ever.
You should try the older AC games, they are far superior!
@@theBolderBoulder there are some aspects of the older games that are better than horizons, such as the personalities being better and a few more special characters, but the customization in new horizons cannot be beat. I don’t think any are better than the others honesty, they all have their own unique charm.

Somewhere is the forest of my childhood. Elsewhere is a city filled with City Folk whom helped raise me. Like a New Leaf changing colours eventually I grow and change, stepping into another part of my live. In the distance I can see them wave me forward to discover a new horizon, knowing I may never be back.

Right now I have acww (which I started playing daily since I like my island just like it is right now). Let's go to the city is still sealed, achhd and acnl are on their way.

I started my Animal crossing game journey with New Leaf for 3ds, then got New leaf Amibo for 3dsxl and Let's go to the city for Wii. Got Home Designer for 3dsxl but not keen. Two years ago got New Horizons for the switch.

Happy 20 years Animal Crossing! I still remember my very first villager in Wild World was Baabara. I loved her so much that I checked in regularly so she wouldn't leave. And then Stitches was my best buddy in City Folk. Bam was my man in New Leaf. I also spent a ton of time in Happy Home Designer. And Pocket Camp lol. And now I'm well over 1,000 hours into New Horizons. I love this franchise and I am so happy it has done so well, so we'll keep getting more! Great video review of these games over the years!

I've played all the AC games from the game cube it's so nostalgic I was 3 years old when I first played it on the game cube, obviously NH has the best graphics and more stuff to do but I miss so many old characters I even miss Phyllis
The Game Cube version was my first game and I played it soooo much as a kid. So much memories over the years
This is a franchise with memories attached that can instantly take me back in time.
Just looking at the thumbnail, it's nice to see how far the Animal Crossing series has evolved
Animal Crossing has been in an out of my life over the past 20 years. I played the original Gamecube release for a while, but didn't play any of the games between Gamecube and New Leaf on the 3DS. After 4 years away from my town, I booted up New Leaf because it was early 2020 and I couldn't get a Switch to play AC:NH. Playing New Leaf was so familiar and only got better when I discovered the Welcome Amiibo update. WOW did that bring new life to New Leaf. I am pretty happy with my little island, though sometimes I wish I could figure out a better way to decorate it.
New Horizons is great, but New Leaf is just the best to keep, if New Horizons had Brewster's Cafe, the Museam have a Constellation Exhibit and Custom Exhibits, and just more shops in general, that still wouldn't change, the Tree song is nostalgic to me, I don't have a 3DS anymore
There is such a long list of missing features that should have been in New Horizons at launch. New Leaf is by far superior in my eyes.

Happy 20 years Animal Crossing! I first played Animal Crossing Wild World when I was 2 years old in 2009. I now own all Animal Crossing games and I am very glad that I know alot about the franchise. I had been researching for a while.
Happy 20 years to Animal Crossing! I've played just about all the mainline titles, but I've never made more progress than in New Horizons. Only being the second time I ever got a fully upgraded house since way back in Wild World when it was more new.
Animals crossing and my favourite was definitely new leaf, my heart will always love wild world too x
I remember seeing the ad for the first game on toonami back in the day. They did a parody of The Real World for the commercial and it did not grab my attention at all. It wasn't until later that summer when I rented it from the video store out of boredom that I finally gave it a shot. I'm glad I did, I almost missed out on this amazing game series.

What i love about the franchise is that even if it wasn't as popular that zelda or mario, was also able to get a movie!! that's how amazing animal crossing is.
One of my favorite things to do is play New leaf, put some wild world piano music in the background, grab my coffee and some cookies and enjoy.

I searched for "animal crossing first generation" and this came up. Way more thorough than I was expecting. This is the complete story of a cute and silly social simulator with anthropomorphized animals in a tiny town which has a huge history.
