My parents took my sister and I to the Tucson Community Center in 1974 to see George his then wife Tammy W., Tom T Hall and a couple of others. They all put on a great show. George and Tammy did a few of their hits including “Golden Rings” which was an Omen for their marriage. Have a great day!
Thanks SO MUCH for posting this. I love it. The young George - no auto tune, no drums, no electrification! Just a guitar, a microphone, the backing string band, and THAT VOICE!
Probably the only thing in this world I’m really jealous about is that I can’t sing George Jones songs like the possum can. I don’t think anyone can, haha.
I just started reading his autobiography "I Lived To Tell It All" so I just had to come and check out his earliest performances when he first started out! ☺️ George is a legend !
I see Gordon Terry to George’s left, Harold Hensley playing fiddle, blind Jimmy Pruett ( aka Wilson) on piano, Pee Wee Adams on drums, and the emcee is Jay Stewart. You can tell George hadn’t quite gotten out of his “Thumper Jones” style yet at this time. Seasons Of My Heart, co-written by Jones & Darrell Edwards, was and still is one of my favorites. What happened to our music?
@@joshartall8368he’s the closest resemblance wise, but I’m not sure if Jim Carrey could convey the waywardness of George’s life. Maybe I’m wrong though 🤷♂️
AND Gordon also used the viola, which he called his "superfiddle", when playing with lower pitched singers. Check out the Johnny Cash version of " She's Just A Honky Tonk Girl" for a good example.
I had the privilege of seeing the Possum in concert in the 70's. I'll never forget it. Best concert I ever saw. I miss him a lot.
The absolute best voice that ever sang Country Music

Agreed
I agree 1000 percent too!!!!

It would be so good if we could turn the clock back and relive those years and good times and moments we loved.

I see why my daddy liked him so much...

Merci beaucoup pour ces images !
❤❤Refreshing.
Look at Jerry Carrigan on piano. Alabama Music Hall of Fame. Played also with Elvis and Jerry Lee himself.
That actually looks like Jimmy Pruett on piano. He was blind also.
He was also an excellent actor in The Mask !
I really want to see a biopic with Jim Carrey playing him!

Compton, Calif

Nope. It's Jimmy Pruitt...a great, great player.
You are Right ! Thanks !
Would anyone here happen to know the song/titles that make up this masterpiece?
Is that the same fiddler that played with Merle Haggard????

You Gotta Be My Baby.

Wish I could think of the blind piano player.. He can really smoke those 88's
Jimmy Pruitt.
Gordon Terry on "violin"
Alabama native!

You Done Me Wrong
@@colinmurphy3478 Also Ray Price, who also did ‘Don’t Do This To Me’. I think both versions of both the songs were done great by both George and Ray.
