I remember Shalla-Bal from the 90s Silver Surfer Saturday Morning Cartoon. There are so many characters from the MCU that you would recognize in that cartoon. Julia Garner is married to the lead singer of Foster the People.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for addressing the issue right out of the gate! Saying she’ll play a female version of Surfer is MISLEADING AS F… when the character already existed apart from Silver Surfer itself.

We don't know the FF are coming from another universe, but I can dig it if they are.
Even if they're coming from the past to the present it could make sense Galactus had Norrin as his herald, that fell through, he went back to snack on Zenn La, but was convinced to take Shalla Bal with a condition she hunts him down. Could make a good dramatic arc for the alien characters.
@@bajansamuraithey most likely are. They are pretty much at the core of it when it comes to multiverse stuff. So it wouldn't surprise me if at the end they end up in either the 616 universe or the universe Rambo ended up in.

Years back people always either had simplistic ways the mutants are revealed in the MCU (Blip causes mutation) or claimed it couldn't be done well after so many years of their absence, but I thought one of several, completely fitting ways to explain mutants' absence was to literally claim something suppressed their rise in the 616 but they're abundant in another world.
That take would see the FF of Earth 2099 trying to stop their Incursion with X-Men of Earth 1970 (their naming convention strictly based on the era their Earth appears to be in), and end up being bounced into the 616 (MCU prime Earth).
When Multiverse of Madness ended I figured Dr. Strange being out there trying to stop Incursions could lead to him meeting up with Reed, Xavier and Magneto trying to build a device that harnesses several mutants, Torch and Sue's energies to shift the Earth's back [using Krakoa as their flying platform, no less 😆]. Originally I considered interference by Doom 2099 leading to its failure, and Strange rescuing them to become refugees on Earth 616, unsure if their universes even survived. With Doom 2099's mask making it there as well and seeking out Victor von Doom, that would give him the insight and the means to seek the power of Reed's Incursion siphoning device and the shenanigans take off from there.
Now that Galactus and Shalla Bal got brought into the casting, it could fit that Galactus is their backup plan to eliminate an Earth to prevent the Incursion, and have the same outcome of being stranded in the 616.
Either way, with multiverse in full effect and Secret Wars what we're leading up to, I'm all for Reed being from another universe and Doom shenanigans like him getting ahold of Kang's tech leading to the merger of parts of multiple Earths to make Battleworld.

So I’m thinking another way they may differentiate the FF is that they don’t get their powers until going through the dimensions similar to Monica Rambeau in WandaVision.
Make a compelling story about them as people to hook the audience.
So basically, what they did in Ultimate Fantastic Four and Fant4stic?
The concept of the F4 hopping through universes to get their powers has been around for 20 years and it's been rejected by audiences every time, although I liked Ultimate Fantastic Four.

The movie (Fantastic Four) was heavily implied to focus on the family aspect. So it kind of makes sense that not only are we gonna focus on the family ties for Marvel’s original family, but also on other characters like Silver Surfer. I’m sure that they’re from an alt universe given that the newest poster from today 4/4/2024) has that retro future NYC skyline. I’m assuming that the movie will start out in this pseudo utopia alternate universe similar to what we saw in Multiverse of Madness except we will actually see the ramifications of incursions from the view of our heroes. The movie will end with either them getting sent straight to battleworld or instead coming to MCU 616 as heralds of “the incursions are coming”.
We need more John on this channel, he comes across as a guy who isnt afraid to say things how it is and if hes wrong holds hands up. To many people who get embrassied an hide an say no no ya cant say that. UP THE JOHN.

The Earth X comic run in the late 90's. It's actually going to be cool to see if Marvel will reference Earth X at all. If I had to guess, they won't but still cool for the ones who know.

Boo-Ya! My twitch question was talked about. It's hard to write a full on question in chat and my take is that it's "gonna flop" has more to it than "this is gonna be a bad movie because Marvel". I'm honestly just concerned for FF. There are so many great actors that have been announced that sometimes having big names in movies doesn't mean it will do well. I feel like most people, how it stays true to source material and how it connects into the MCU are real concerns. It really is, i think, are hard movie to pull off.
No it absolutely does not need to be more than that because the truth is the perception dictates everything.
For the longest time, I've been very low on this upcoming Fantastic Four movie. But between this news and the discussion today, I feel a lot more enthusiastic about it now. I think the casting of Shalla-Bal could be a way of tipping fans off that this is being done by people who know the Fantastic Four mythos. Thank you for making me a little less jaded towards this movie with your analysis. Also, I think Dan Stevens would be a great Silver Surfer with his suave Matthew Crawley-esque charm mixed with the sinister, menacing aura he had in Legion. As for Doctor Doom, Colin Woodell would be an underrated choice. The refined, yet cold demeanor he had playing the young Winston in the John Wick Continental show would be perfect for Doctor Doom.

They should introduce Victor von Doom in the fantastic 4 movie but near the end or as an end credit you see him starting to get his powers. So introduce the character and give a little hint in the first movie to set him up for the future or Secret wars.

I'm so excited Julia to be in it. That one scene in the last season of Ozark still gives me chills (if you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about). Some of the best acting I've ever seen, the raw emotion. She deserved those Emmy's.

My take is that she is silver surfer in a different universe. The fantastic 4 have to come from another reality because kang would've had to stop their existence in the 616. She will be someone they face but they lose their world to galactus and then they travel to our universe.

I'm just worried that a Fantastic Four movie will end up spending all of 20 minutes on the actual Four interacting with each other. The Four aren't defined by their villains like say Batman or something, and there's going to be precious little time to get to know each of these guys if they focus too much on a bunch of other supporting characters.

Whats wrong with Norrin Radd as the Silver Surfer?
Even the ole "red herring switcheroo" reveal is a luxury Disney doesnt have at this sensitive moment, as common sense should tell them that this comes across as mocking comic fans. At this point, Its almost like Disney is being brought down by an inside person. Sometimes people want the beef hamburger that they remember from youth, not a damn bean padddy sandwich.

Loki was classic. Echo was fine until the end. The Marvels is actually a good movie people just had an obsessive fetish to hate it years before it even came out. I also thought Ms Marvel was a fun watch for what it was.
Bro it’s ok for people to wonder if fantastic four will flop even though I as fan of comic book media and comic book reader/collector I ask that be cause none of my friends besides one read comics they have general knowledge on dc snd marvel but they know who fantastic four are but I find that they aren’t popular which surprised me a lot because i thought f4 was big in pop culture I was wrong people who aren’t into this don’t care about f4 but they care about Superman and even Deadpool and wolverine somehow people know Daredevil more than f4 and f4 had three movies I think the trailers for f4 has to be exceptional for people to go see it
It’s because most don’t read comics they play video games and watch movies which is why Spider Man and Batman are the biggest. F4 movies were not good and X Men and then Avengers always overshadowed them.
I think his name is John, but I’ve only watched them in one other video and both videos he comes across as a huge asshole, blatant disrespect to the people with him, to actors, to audience members with questions or opinions. Very weird vibes both videos I have watched with him in them.

THANKS!!! I can accept this. Even though the Norrin Radd Silver Surfer and Galactus are my favorite characters in all of fantasy. I'll always have that 1998 animated series and my TASCHEN book, so I hope it's done well enough to enjoy and even love.

@@Noid1220Yeah, I'm dramatic because the Silver Surfer is my favorite character and he's Stan Lee's favorite character. There's no other male characters in comics that are as empathetic and eloquent plus he has the most compelling story arc of any character created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
Of course I'm upset they threw that all away because there were enough female leads and they're replacing him with his irrelevant girlfriend from decades ago.

Y'all, it's Silver Surfers First Love! They didn't gender swap him 😭😭😭 Don't be weird about this 🙏🏽 She'll probably be a very big part of his origin story going forward in the MCU. Plus, they're still casting for Norrin Radd like almost every scooper under the sun has been saying for the last year. Again, SHE'S A DIFFERENT CHARACTER. Shalla-Bal is the love interest of Norin Radd, but she became a Silver Surfer herself on Earth-9997.
The Fantastic Four is not set in the MCU, and they really want to set that point across by using alternate universe elements like these.
